Welcome to my channel. I make lots of music based videos, mainly dancing to really nice music. My music choices are based on having a first love of Soul and Funk music, although I love a lot of different types of music and rhythms. I enjoy sharing this love and making videos to re-imagine those tunes. I try to mix up classics with tunes not so well known, and putting creative and artistic visuals to the tunes can be fun and interesting, and the process of making videos is part of my journey which has led me to do lots of different things. I have released my own CD through Universal Music, and I have worked with many different companies and style brands where Music or Dance has been part of the campaign. I have worked for the BBC on Strictly as a choreographer, and danced with Pharrell at The Brits. I have had Music Radio Shows and I DJ as part of @streetsofsoul and sometime we put on events too!!

Northern Soul will never die.
I absolutely love Northern Soul music. I got into Northern Soul about 10 years ago when I was out one evening with some people I worked with at the time celebrating a colleague's birthday, we went out for a meal and then after that we decided to go into this club sort of place and they were playing soul music, mostly Northern Soul records. I hadn't really heard anything much about it before but when the DJ played Dobie Gray's 'Out On The Floor' I really started getting into it. That song is what really started getting me into the whole northern soul thing. I can still remember that night I was just sat mesmerised watching this one guy on the dance floor dancing to this great music thinking wow, he's a really good dancer. From that moment I was hooked. I have collected quite a lot of Northern Soul albums and singles now on vinyl and CD and I'm still collecting. KTF. Northern Soul forever.
The most amazing thing about UA-cam, I think, is how it exposes you to so many new and wonderful things. I just discovered shuffle and thought how much I loved the music you were dancing to but had never heard any of the songs in the US. Now, through your shuffle, you have exposed me to Northern Soul, which I think I will quite like 🙏🏻

Ha! That took me back to my first visit to my first NS nighter back in 2010 after living abroad for a long time ... the atmosphere was electric. i walked in and the hairs on my neck stood up, shivers up n down the spine. Awesome.
I,m a real old school Mod/Soul Boy, I was a Twisted Wheel and Golden Torch regular, and I love to see young people getting into it, it's the only way it can carry on, plus some of my contempories are plain embarrassing now,
I am and was as well but alas the left hip needs replacing just wish l could have my time over again and be at the start again as it took off.

Awesome to get someone else's take on how they came to love NS. My 1st night at Wigan's Casino club around 1975, I felt the Euphoria as soon as I stepped in. the atmosphere was electric! No waiting for the dance floor to fill, it was full from the get/go. Classics were cranked out from the off and the floor filled with stompers instantly, my dancing back then was basic but nobody cared .... you just enjoyed the music. The best of times remembered forever.

a bit of a similar story! I was 18 and also in Spain. I sat down with my dad for a farther son drink and he got up UA-cam and started playing R.dean Taylor there's a ghost in my house and I absolutely loved it then came the history lesson of Wigan and northern soul. then I came back to stoke a week or two later attended my first all nighter at the kings hall and I was hooked !!! that was 7 years ago and im still hooked now ! KTF AND KEEP SPREADING THE SOUL

I like the obscure sounds of motown ,doowop girl groups soul harmony music .what I'm trying to say is ,it was original in the day but we need girls like this to keep the sound of yesterday alive ,people who love the our music

Northern Soul has to be the most infectious of all the music genres i've known. your dancing is brilliant yet so smooth. Im 58 and i have what seems like two left feet, but even i can make a few moves to this music... With the CD purchased too, I'm now hooked on this !! Thanks.x

I spun the discs at a youth club in ‘82 when I was 15. One of the Mods handed me a single one evening and asked me to play it. R.Dean Taylor ‘Ghost In My House’. Those guys and girls dancing to that amazing track is an image burned in my memory - makes me smile every time I think of it, or hear the track - 37 years ago now😃 It was bloody brilliant!
Love that track so much.... My dad was a soulie n he had it on a tape compliation in the car. After he passed I found the empty case. So I bought a copy on vinyl. Loads of other great tracks on it too
Stoked that I saw one of your videos in my feed the other day! I learned about Northern Soul from reading a book called last Night a DJ Saved My Life which is a pretty amazing account of the history of the disc jockey. It goes in to so many scenes, reggae, hip hop, disco, house and it really gets in to the Northern Soul all nighters. Read this book long ago, before there was much info on Northern Soul on the internet. Now I can't stop watching these videos. I also got to see Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings here in Humboldt CA shortly before Sharon passed. We are SO lucky to have gotten to see them!

Lev I LOVE this. I'm 31 and been into the scene now for a few years but never plucked up the courage to go by myself to a soul night. Now of course we're in a pandemic and I'm ITCHING to go! I'm from Kent so hoping to find one near me soon. Love your videos!

Remember when Lev was a toddler. Used to pick her Mum up heading up to the Dome, 100 Club, Stoke or wherever. Her Mum was a Stafford regular in the 80s so Lev grew up with all this around her.

I traveled to Glasgow alone to see Sharon Jones and the dap kings at the rundown o2. She smashed it and filled my soul. She will live on through our memories.
it's hard to find somewhere to feel like you belong these days, everyone seems to be on some kind save this or that mission, but just look at Ms McClean, she is happy and calm and it makes me feel that way just listening to her. xx

It is interesting how some people can relate to something so well and share it with others. :)
I'd never heard the term Northern Soul. But, yeah, now that I know. Joyful, bright, good feelings, and those danceable rhythms. I bet that some of the music transcends to higher, more spiritual levels. And in dance, to this music, you can express spiritual, universal love and joy. I would look to Stevie Wonder to find this experience, as possibly the best example. Some songs from 'Songs In The Key Of Life': 'As', or 'Another Star', or 'Ngiculela - Es Una Historia - I Am Singing', to name some. If you want to tap into a spiritual dance high, check those out.

I was there in the seventies, Wigan, Cleethorpes,st Ives ect great times if everyone in the world had the attitude of people who went to the all nighters there would be know trouble in the world never did see any trouble made so many friends from all over the country
Cleethorpes not the same anymore, Winter Gardens is now a car park, its just so dead, not like the old days. 👍🍻🇬🇧

I was big in to northern soul in my 20s and still enjoy it. 80s soul and funk got my attention in my 30s. I would recommend it all.
Man, she heard about this at 16 whereas I only heard about this in my late 30's early 40's...?! I DEFINITELY feel I was deprived!
I was just graduating middle school in LA in the mid 60's when "Soul" ruled. I have always loved it and continue to love it. And I love all the people that love it. You all have SOUL!!! I love the British "Northern Soul" scene. God Bless you all. Love from New Zealand.

My first Northern Soul Allnighter was in Stoke also! Must of been in the mid 80's I think. They did them at Stafford around this time also which became a regular thing for us.

Genuine question for anyone - How difficult is it to learn to dance to northern soul, i love the music but never been to any northern soul do, i know they have one near me in BOLTON, does it really matter if i just got up and did my own thing, by the way i am nearly 55 now ..lol but i genuinely love to watch them dancing even here on youtube their feet are a joy to watch. TY.
