  • CSS (Central Superior Services) is a highly competitive exam in Pakistan, conducted by the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC). The CSS exam consists of written papers and an interview, covering a variety of subjects such as English, Pakistan Affairs, Current Affairs, Islamiat, and optional subjects chosen by the candidates.
    To score well on the CSS final papers, candidates need to prepare thoroughly and demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the subjects. However, understanding the marking scheme and criteria used by qualified and experienced paper checkers can also be beneficial.
    In this video, paper checkers with years of experience grading CSS final papers will share their insights and tips on how to score well. They will discuss the marking scheme, common mistakes made by candidates, and how to structure and present answers effectively. By providing this unique perspective, this video aims to help students better understand the grading process and improve their performance in the CSS exam.
    In addition to sharing their grading insights, the paper checkers in this video will also provide a glimpse into the lighter side of the CSS final papers checking process. With their years of experience, they have seen their fair share of common mistakes and humorous responses from candidates, and have developed a subtle satire and humor regarding CSS. This video will include some of these anecdotes and insights, making it an entertaining and informative resource for anyone preparing for the CSS exam.`

    In the Age of AI (Where knowledge is just a tap away) we are following the 5th century BC Plato's model of Philosopher King (Based on rote learning)... Worse than that papers are marked on the basis of presentation... Best administrator's standard in Pakistan is how to write a perfect essay (even Al Farabi identified 20+ skills/qualities for an efficient administrator in the 11th century) We are not even close to following Al Farabi's 11th century model... More than 150 Hard+Soft skills have no inclusion in selecting administrators for the country... Administrators are selected on the whims of FPSC that which papers are declared high scoring and which ones low each year... After listening to this I believe first there should be a separate exam for selecting FPSC members+employees and then the examiners... Notwithstanding few exceptions scum is selected for these posts.. ASPs are selected just on the basis of which subjects were by chance high scoring in a year and all other criteria i.e. height, love of adventure, empathy, courage, high values etc etc are ignored... Probably the FPSC and the CSS exam system is one of the many reasons we are centuries behind the first world countries.

      Just look at the objective of CSS, which is feeding docile servants to country's political/military elite. So you dont need anything fancy or intellectually rigorous to end up in the civil service. Look at India's UPSC in contrast and achievements of their civil servants today

    Css is a paper of writing, where you do not physically appear in front of the examiner, it’s your only paper which represents your thoughts, personality, knowledge, and time management skills. You can’t excuse that good handwriting is bad thing to appreciate and you can’t excuse more writing pages of answer is bad thing to appreciate. Everything is matter. Everyone likes beautiful things. Similarly, Examiner likes beautiful handwriting. Good Presentation is an art and you should learn this art. You can’t blame the system. You should focus on your writing skills, instead blaming the system.

    Makes sense why we have so many candidates who succeed with less effort and analytical ability, just because they are good at using market gimmicks like "presentation". Saw many candidates getting ridiculously high scores in some subjects even with fundamental shortcomings like irrelevance, poor grammar and misspellings. This system is built in such an arbitrary fashion, no wonder we are struggling as a nation.

    • @perspectives786
      @perspectives786  9 місяців тому +8

      That's exactly what we wanted to say. It can be very disheartening to witness gimmicks being encouraged while intellectual depth seems to be discouraged by the system. Unfortunately, such occurrences can reflect some of the challenges that our country faces.

      The guest in the very beginning mentioned that examiner is also a human who is stuck at may places in life at the same time. Besides the cost being paid for assessing the copy is not enough to encourage to read to word to word. In such cases it's very natural to be influenced by presentation.

    i hope that this is not taken amiss , but would'nt it be brilliant if the paper setters attempted their own Question paper , sticking , to the best of their abilities , to the 3 hr time limit and other circumstances of the exam and proceeded to evaluate their own answers ?
    How many marks , do u think , would a paper setter grant to himself, in his very own Question paper ?
    This may come across as rather futile , but i beleive it would establish great clarity within the mind of the paper setter(or examiner) as to the demands of his own Questions and the time constraints that inhibit student's responses . It would also help determine , whether the Question paper is , infact doable and therefore good , or whether the contents of the paper need revision .

      In the context of CSS exams, it's important to note that each sheet of paper typically contains two pages, one on each side. Therefore, for each question, you are expected to write at least 5 to 6 pages or the equivalent of 3 sheets of paper. This means that you should provide a comprehensive and well-structured response, spanning multiple pages, in order to effectively communicate your ideas

    11:28 if examiners don't have time then they should be not allowed to check papers. Do you think candidates have time to write outline in all Qs???

    • @perspectives786
      @perspectives786  9 місяців тому +11

      Improve your writing ability, you will do it anyway with or without outlines!
      (Mistakes in your comment)
      if examiners don't have time" - There should be a comma after "if" to separate the conditional clause.
      "they should be not allowed to check papers" - The phrase "be not allowed" should be "not be allowed."
      "Do you think candidates have time to write outline in all Qs???" - "outline" should be pluralized as "outlines," and there should be a question mark at the end of the sentence.
      So, the corrected sentence is:
      "If examiners don't have time, they should not be allowed to check papers. Do you think candidates have time to write outlines in all questions?

    • @mudabbira4884
      @mudabbira4884 8 місяців тому

      Not that one disputes anything regarding the manner of response to this comment , for it stands , as it does , as an OP reply , it has to be admitted regardless , that writting an outline to all questions is not entirely practical .
      On a different note , do paper setters or examiners ever indulge in the exercise of attempting the Ques paper in front of them , within a 3 hr time limit ? For if they do , it would , perhaps ,endow them with a clarity of circumstances surrounding the student , that speculation could hardly provide .
      I donot , at any degree , doubt the competence and erudition of our good examiners and paper setters , selected as they are , from amongst the best in the field . I merely suggest that this paper attempting excercise may do us all good in terms of accurately assesing the answers provided .
      E.g The paper setter attempts his own Ques paper within 3 hrs , with a tea break or two , and then , proceeds to grade his own answers on a scale of 100 .

    • @perspectives786
      @perspectives786  8 місяців тому +2

      Having bad handwriting alone doesn't disqualify someone from becoming a civil servant. What matters is that their writing is legible and clear, as effective communication is essential in administrative roles. So, if their handwriting is legible, they have a chance to pursue a career in civil service.

    • @perspectives786

      Good handwriting can make a positive impression, but what's most crucial in CSS exams is legible handwriting. As long as the writing is clear and understandable, it will be effective in the exams.

    ChatGPT is extremely overrated. I used to refer to for economics and more often than not it gave incorrect answers. Upon correction it always apologised.

    • @perspectives786
      @perspectives786  8 місяців тому +1

      ChatGPT, like any AI, can make mistakes, especially in complex subjects like economics. It's designed to provide information based on the data it has been trained on, but it may not always have the most up-to-date or accurate information, and it can sometimes misinterpret questions. Encouraging your student to verify answers and use ChatGPT as a supplemental tool for research is a good approach. AI tools are not infallible, and they should be used in conjunction with human expertise for the best results.

      Making outlines is discouraged in subjects other than essays due to time constraints; however, if you can manage to create outlines, it becomes very convenient for the paper checker to understand the entire answer. Rough outlines can help you keep track of your thoughts, and sometimes, in order to manage your time effectively, you can create imaginary outlines in your mind.

    8:14 is CSS a test of our knowledge or choice of our pen & handwriting & how much pages we've written. No wonder why our country is ruined because they've such pathetic criteria. Lanat ha is system pr.

    • @perspectives786
      @perspectives786  9 місяців тому +4

      At 8:14, your frustration echoes the sentiments of many. CSS examinations should ideally be a test of knowledge, critical thinking, and analytical abilities. However, the excessive focus on handwriting, page count, and other superficial criteria can often overshadow the essence of evaluating one's competency. It's disheartening to see a system that sometimes appears to prioritize surface-level attributes over intellectual depth. Your frustration is well-founded, and it reflects the need for a more equitable and intellectually-driven evaluation process in our educational and examination systems. Indeed, our society would benefit from nurturing and encouraging high IQ and intellectual prowess rather than discouraging it. The call for change in these systems is a valid and essential one.

    I must admit that this video has broaden my horizon and vision. With due respect, I want to ask for some guidance regarding penmanship.
    Can we use Ink-pen?
    Can we use remover to erase any mistake (i.e. spelling mistakes)
    May we use flowcharts, diagrams, etc. in exams like Islamiyat, and gender studies?

    • @perspectives786
      @perspectives786  9 місяців тому +2

      Good penmanship plays a crucial role in the CSS exam as it offers several advantages to candidates. Firstly, it ensures clarity and legibility in your answers, minimizing the risk of misinterpretation by examiners and allowing them to assess your responses accurately. Furthermore, neat and organized writing showcases a high level of professionalism and attention to detail, which can leave a positive impression on the examiners. This professionalism extends to effective communication, as well-structured and legible handwriting aids in conveying your ideas and arguments coherently. Additionally, having confidence in your writing's readability can boost your overall confidence during the exam, enabling you to concentrate on the content of your answers rather than concerns about legibility. Lastly, in an environment where time management is critical, clear penmanship can save valuable minutes for both you and the examiners, enhancing the efficiency of the evaluation process and potentially leading to more favourable grading outcomes.

    • @perspectives786
      @perspectives786  9 місяців тому +3

      Integrating flowcharts and diagrams into your answers can provide numerous benefits in the context of CSS exams. These visual aids can help elucidate complex concepts and ideas, making your responses more accessible and understandable for the examiners. Visual representations can enhance the overall clarity and coherence of your answers, effectively complementing your written explanations. Furthermore, they can demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter and your ability to convey it through different mediums. When used judiciously, flowcharts and diagrams can serve as powerful tools for concisely summarizing information, enabling you to communicate your points more effectively and potentially earning you higher scores in your CSS exams.
