Such a pleasure to have good tools. Enjoy!
I completely agree, thanks😀
You are going to love that for rounding out bowl blanks.
You are so right, it's going to be so much easier than a jigsaw lol 😀
🤩 very nice machine! Yeah, first cut has been made🎉 Couldn’t wait to see your future videos incorporating this beautiful machine into the process of making your creations😊
Thanks so much Mary, they will be coming soon 😀
Great demonstration. It really is a good bandsaw
Thanks Rachel, I love it
Great bit of kit Mike 👌 👍
Thanks Will, it's great to have a proper bandsaw lol 😀
Fancy machine you've got there. Enjoy!
Thanks, will do! 😀
Great information, I look forward to next video on the band saw.
Thanks David 😀
Looks a great machine will come in very handy
This will be the second most used machine in the shop 😀
Thanks Mike! Glad you’re enjoying your new bandsaw. I’ve got an oldie but goodie I bought and rehabbed with some new shoes and trunnions and it was good to go!
Nice, that is what I was looking to do before this opportunity came up 😀
Ooh won't you have lots of fun! Cheryl from JacksonvilleFL! Be careful and have fun!!❤😅
Thanks and I will be very careful, I have already had a warning from my wife lol 😀
Thanks Mike, already ordered mine, mentioned your name to the salesman said you recommended it to me ,, didn't need the free course ,have been a joiner all my life so I no my way around a bandsaw. Delivery next week (can't wait) .
Thanks I really appreciate that! Have fun and if I need help with mine I'll give you a shout 😀
Someone on UA-cam (can’t remember who) made a push stick that looked like a pointing hand. I had to have one! So I made it. I wish I could send a photo. So I knew what you were making! Also, I made a rolling enclosure for my shop vac. Lined with sound absorbing material (but maybe not necessary) on casters, with an exterior on/off switch. Very quiet. 👍🏻 Congratulations and cheers from CA.
Thanks, I have seen the finger stick and will be making one when I have time 😀
thats a great bit of kit great informative video too
Glad you enjoyed it Colin ☺️
That's a great piece of kit. Wish i had room for one.
Thanks it's going to be so useful ☺️
That's a really nice piece of kit Mike, does it all with precision. I like the way it cuts through that really hard wood easily with the standard blade.
I must admit I was expecting it not to do as well. I'm going to treat it with a few top quality blades to see how well it can do 😀
Hi Mike.
Thanks for the informative video.
If you had told me a year ago I would be watching such a video, I would have laughed lol
Wishing you many hours of productive, but fun, use of your new addition. And of course safety.
Have a great week. Looking forward to Tuesday's post 🙃
Haha, I wonder what else I can get you to watch lol. Have a great week ☺️
@@MikeHolton lol if you're presenting, I'm game 😂
@@fionacrouch1732 haha 😂
today i learned that yew is harder than oak! the things i pick up when i watch your channel. so many fun projects that you roughed out today - can't wat to see the 3rd vid and what you do with the cuts from today. cheers!!!
Thanks Dee, not sure I will be using the same wood but it will be fun I promise 😃
Thanks 👍
You're welcome 😀
I can't wait to see what you do with the ash yew. So beautiful.
I know, that was pretty nice! 😀
Thats a brilliant pair. Can see them joined to make a great platter. Appreciate how you show all the features of kit like this. I need a bigger shed. Chris
@@chrisgrimshaw6358 Thanks Chris 😃
Again, congrats on the addition. I'll be very interesting in seeing how you integrate the band saw with your other tools.
Thanks, I used it on my last project. I'll be using it to process blanks to avoid waste and it will help me produce some interesting pieces (I hope) 😀
That really cool my first build would be the bowl blank jig 👍👍👍
That is what I was thinking 😀
Always nice to have new toys!
It is and I have been very spoilt recently! 😀
Very nice machine. Working well. Has plenty of power and seems to run quiet.
I like the design to catch most of the dust under the table.
Cast iron wheels are nice. My bandsaw did not have the option for cast iron wheels at the time.
Dave.
Thanks Dave, I I think it's going to need some good quality blades to get the most out of 😀
Love the features on this saw and the size is perfect for smaller shops. I know you are happy to have this in your shop, Mike.😎
You have no idea! This opens up a whole new world of possibilities 😀
@@MikeHolton ya! And being able to do some book matching is a great bonus !
😁
I have that machine's Great Grandfather, a Startrite, which is going well but this bandsaw is very attractive indeed. Good demo Mike.
Best Wishes, Brendan.
Thanks Brendan, before I got the opportunity to buy this I was looking at the old Startrite machines 😀
Thanks for the demos of this saw. I was considering the Sabre 350, but then they launched this one! It has some nice new features over the 350 and is quite a bit smaller, which is a bonus for me!! The only thing for me is not much saving over the bigger 350!??
That is true, I have a feeling the Sabre 350 will get some of the new features this one has and they price may go up. But that is just a guess. All the best, Mike 😀
Looks like a good acquisition Mike. I’ve never heard of a Janka unit before…every day is a school day!
Thanks, the Janka figure represents the force required to push a steel ball half way into a piece of wood dried to about 14%.. or something like that lol
Boys toys, I love ‘em. Have a great weekend, Mike. Maybe the rain will stop and we’ll be able to have a coffee or drink in the garden 🌞
I hope so too, my grass needs cutting but my lawnmower is away being serviced, it's back on Tuesday 😀
And girls toys!
@@brendadriver2702 Exactly Brenda 😀
@@brendadriver2702I couldn’t agree more. I like your surname 🌞
@@raydriver7300 thanks! I married into that name. What part of the world do you come from. We are in Missouri and my husband said his ancestors came from Scotland. Not sure if that was the Driver side or Stuart side.
Twice as hard as you 😂😂😂 lol love it
Haha I did have a chuckle about that as well when I was editing 😀
What a solid addition to the workshop, I’m wondering if they make a diamond blade for that model…
No idea Ken, I'll look into it 😀
Mike. Does the saw have a "power out" that you can connect extraction to, so one switch does both things in a single press?
What a great machine, I wish I had one. It is the destiny of every man to spend time in a workshop making pieces of wood smaller. Thing is though you are really good at it!
Haha thanks my friend. It has a standard plug and there are ways of doing it. I have put the vacuum on a remote switch so I can now turn it on via a small pad on the post, so much easier than bending over 😀
I use the 12 or 14 tpi raker blades for freehand and prettier cuts. It looks like that's what you have on yours now. It is a good blade and easier to stay in complete control of what's going on. Most of the time, I have a 3 tpi hook blade on for ripping and cutting bowl blanks. They are a lot more graby, and its better to use jigs when possible. They are easier to sharpen a few times, too. If I do not hit a rock or a piece of iron, the 3 tpi blade will always outlast the raker blade.
Thanks Loran, that is good info 😀
Hi great new workshop I've got the record 350 bandsaw think it's a good saw but I wish I spent the extra money on the Sabire 350 bandsaw as it is a far better machine for setting up the blades thanks for sharing cheers Ray
Thanks Ray, the Sabre 350 is still out of my price range but this is more than enough for what I need 😀
Thanks for the demonstration. That is a nice bandsaw. One of the few tools I want to upgrade at some point. Doesn't look like Record Power is readily available in the US though.
Thanks, they are available in the US and all around the world 😀
Love this! When you started cutting the pine, I thought, "Wish he had one of those guide sticks." It made me laugh to see you making one. Thank you for sharing. Also, do you sell the hoodies with your logo? Have a great weekend. 😊
Hi Cynthia, I don't (yet) I had a few make up for myself. I may consider selling in the future, I take it you may be interested?
@@MikeHolton definitely!
@@cynthiahamptonprince9449 I'll have a think, hope you have a great weekend as well 😁
Very little dust visible on the video. Nice extraction!
Thanks, there is dust left on the table but virtually nothing inside which is pretty amazing! 😀
Nice machine! I've been considering replacing my ageing Charnwood one with something decent for a while... The micro adjuster on the fence seems overkill considering bandsaws will inevitably have a small amount of sway, but I imagine it'll be useful on small thin stock. I like the dust extraction features too.
What's the noise like while in use?
I have a number of Charnwood tools. It’s nice that someone else has also discovered them 🌞
@RavensViewStudio The bandsaw is fairly quiet for a big machine, it's the vacuum that makes most of the noise
@RavensViewStudio
There's nothing like playing with a new toy, oops,I meant working with a new tool.
Haha, I know what you mean 😀
The only thing I would like to see is a switch by the on/off button that controls the dust collector.
That can be added fairly easily with a remote socket switch. I'll order one and have a go. 😀
Ok...I admit it...I am more than a little envious 😒 I have a small bench top bandsaw which is fine.....but size DOES matter!
It does and the power of this is amazing. I had a small bench top type and if you gave it an inch of oak it would just get bogged down
