I started (binge) watching sailing videos last month. Your videos and the videos from Sailing La Vagabonde are by far the ones I like the most. Thank you for the amazing content. Malin is so sweet and gentle. Of course, you're both very likable and make a lovely couple. I wish you the best!
I personally think Sailing Nahoa makes the highest quality videos of all these sailing channels on UA-cam, but I think it is because they have editing expertise and graphic experience, their videos are almost TV quality, need to check them out too, also the content of "Learning by doing" is awesome too, the guy is a photographer, so his videos not only have great content, they are also interesting too, but RAN Sailing is my favorite of all channels, so I am here before any other channel!
So much fun to look back on this time with you two. Now you're starting the same voyage 5 years later... with a beautiful 2 year old daughter and a stunning new boat.
just watched all 26 during 2 day rain storm here in NorCal, good stuff great videos, Johan i like your Logic and engineering skills, aptitude and attitude. will be looking for next episode.
So nice to find a sailing channel that's about sailing, and not about bikinis. Subbed. Still working on getting my gal to agree, one of these days hope to be out there.
Great video. I found it really helpful to see the level of planning that one has to do to provision a sailboat for a long ocean passage and then to actually see how much food that is and how much space it takes up. It's staggering to see how much stuff you have on board and the challenge to find sufficient space to store it all. I really appreciated the comments by others about the removal of paper materials in order to eliminate a breeding ground for insects of various types. Keep up the good work.
I have heard of that issue as well .. since this is a older video - how did it go? Sharpies (permanent markers) can be used to label the cans or "tins" as the brits say.
Interesting thought.. it makes sense. It’s good to be more specific at avoiding fungus and dirt to build up. But ripping the papers of the tins .. that’s a lot of permanent marking time
Great video, I especially liked the sequence of stacking the food on the table. The music for that was perfect. Keep up the great work. Be safe. Oh and thanks for the sequence of Johan's (sp?) voyage to Georgia Island. I really enjoyed that.
Great to see you moving on. Been waiting for that for a while. Try removing everything of food from cardboard boxes or paper wraps. They are really enjoyable by all sorts of bugs in the tropics. Looking forward to see your uploads next time. Sure it may take more than 7-8 days this time. Happy sailing - ha det så bra. Magnus, Falköping
I really enjoyed the content of this video, especially the provisioning process. Then ending with the chart explanation helped me understand your travels much better. Thanks. Keep 'em coming.
Wow, that was a SERIOUS provisioning run! I would guess you might be good for more than just a few months. I really like these "technical" videos regarding how you are working things out for the adventure. Good to see how things work out.
We loved our time in the Canary Islands so much, I'm glad to see you were able to have a great experience as well! Cheers on your Atlantic crossing, good luck!
I'm a Patron, but had to cut all my donation amounts because I'm buying my own boat and wanted to be a little more flexible. Your videos are great and are always of the best quality and content. Thanks for the inspiration and the views. I look forward to your posts!
Was an excellent idea to make curtains. It will definitely cut the heat and the boat inside will look nicer. I have made mine some time ago, and it added some charm to the boat ;)
Thanks guys for making my Monday 'sick' day! (Recovering from round the buoys racing in Wellington NZ) Just binge watched the whole lot! Look forward to future videos, and if you're ever in my part of the world, I've got a team of sailors who'd be happy to show you around!
Hi you guys! Love your videos, cannot wait for the next one. Love RAN too, beautifull boat. Malin, you look good, admire your braveness in this adventure! Be safe, all,the best from another world sailor from Holland.
Great video thanks for sharing. Having seen the South Atlantic videos I can see why you want more than tins of tuna this time - Fair winds and stay safe
So useful for a future sailer that i am. Congrats guys, keep going, i ll love to follow you on your journey. Showing the provisionning was a fine idea, i loved the artic journey as well. Greetings from france !
Thanks for posting.. Just remember, it could be more simple. It could be the 18th Century (1700's) and your supplies would be coffee, salted port, salted beef, salted fish, sauerkraut, fresh fruits if they could be found.. hard tack and barrels of rum.. LOL... I envy you two guys. I should be on your trail in a couple more years. It's a good thing they didn't have super markets back then. But at least your pallet will be happy. LOL!
You guys are amazing. Beautiful boat, beautiful people on a fantastic adventure. Please share the trip down to the cape. Will we see some chocolate covered cornflakes?
That was very informative and funny as well. Really enjoyed and have a good idea about what it takes to cross in style. Be very interesting to see what you do in 20 days when trying to find that last can of tomato paste. Good luck on your crossing and will be watching for your next installment.
it was interesto to see you guys prepare for such a long voyage. amazing you found space for all that food! also I really liked the time lapse shopping cart footage :)
Another great video, that shopping list and the work to store all was really scary. I used to do a lot of camping and I have often thought that when I do a sailing trip of that long between good stores I would consider freeze dried food. The freeze dried food has become really good and would store easily but I also know fresh or canned food might taste better. But it would be good in case of an emergency, just my thoughts. I hope you have a great crossing and cannot wait to see more of your videos.
Great video! I highly recommend taking off the labels, from cans and wiping them down with a rubbing alcohol/bleach solution. Mites and roaches like to lay eggs behind the labels, and that's how many boats get infested. Great video!
Hi guys, you should wash or actually it's best to remove the paper rap on all cans!! To avoid insects!! Cockroaches normally they lay eggs or some eggs gets stock to the paper, the last thing you want on a boat is cockroaches 🙈🙈
probably to late for this comment, as you'll probably be on your way by now. Beyond find a place to stow your provisions one of the most critical things is securing them. When you get into rough seas you don't want stuff flying all over the place. Broken wine bottles are a great hazard. Have to say of all the sailing couples I've come across on youtube you guy are in the top % for preparedness!
You are definitely right! We try to secure everything for bad weather. We have fitted locks on the hatches with heavy stuff in them, like the wine bottles and the canned food. It is a real challenge to secure absolutely everything though and at the same time make it usable. Thanks for your feedback and for watching! Take care!
WOW...your new video...what a treat with a glass of wine...You did nice on the curtains...I need curtains....the village celebration almost looks like any celebration in the states...except for a different, more beautiful language...where r u going to store all the items...I have a lot of confidence in Johan because anyone who sailed in the Antarctic knows what they are doing...trust me...! Beer & chocolate are equal....Wow, how stressful all that shopping.... is there any way u could put the list on youtube...it could save me a lot of work...ha, ha, ha...I am on the west side of the Atlantic...hopefully we'll meet someday...peace & love, Capt. Rob Florida USA
You guys are awesome! Safe travels on the crossing. A lot of work but man how rewarding. So awesome! Blessings guys! May God continue to protect you guys!
I can and have done the same amount of shopping for less then £600 for a family of three, and that’s all good hearty food, you may want to revisit your budget guys.
Your journey is magical. I am mesmerised by your trip, your sailing, your relationship. You are beautifully sweet souls and inspired my soul to go out in the sea again and get a multihull to travel the seas around the parts that I watched the first episodes of yours. Loved the Antarctica series ...memories to remember for ever. I have many questions but ...single hull or multi hull for the Atlantic? I still haven't seen where about you are at the moment but please tell me...if you reply
I would love to read your list of groceries and also your meals from the list. Curious what your meals consist of. Love your videos. Good luck in your travels.
You guy are awesome, I watched all of your videos in the row as soon as I found your channel. I was just wondering how are you guys in POVO, when are you planning on a new video. Spotwalla service is awesome, I am buying myself a SPOT to do the same when I am trucking.
Greetings from Indiana! Catching up on a binge day... and enjoying your channel greatly... great blend of sailing, travel/scenery, boat maintenance, and cool projects! Wondering about your curtains... specifically, what was used to mount them on the windows... wire, bungee, rods,??? I have a trailer sailor... a Catalina 22... and need to upgrade mine... Thanks and happy cruising! Dave.
WOW! Good stuff... I see other videos where they take off the labels from all the canned goods. Something about insects in the glue and paper. Keep a close eye. Safe travels look forward to your next.😎
We'd figure that we would get comments about not taking off the labels from the canned food :) I, Johan, have actually never done that before and have never experienced any problem with cockroaches etc. So we decided to keep the labels to make it easier to find the right tin without having to mark them. But we'll see, maybe this time I'm wrong ;-)
The roaches in the tropical parts of the Americas fly, specifically towards lights at anchor. Once inside, they eat on the paper packaging, especially cardboard containers. In colder climates, I never had any issues, but as soon as we dropped down into central america, the bugs took over quick. If nothing else, it will make for a good life lesson. Fair winds.
An eight-pack of Combat! roach traps in the largest size available, distributed throughout the boat has always worked well for me. Maybe two eight-packs for a larger boat. They last several months, and at the first sign of a bug, replace them. No mess, no spraying, no odor, no powders. The roaches will find them and they prefer the poisoned bait inside to almost anything else. Almost all markets and ferreterias have them. Not sure if the brand name makes a difference, some local brands may be more or less effective. On another subject, the kerosene from the airport in Sal will find their nice clean decks.
14:30 Buying bulk is so much better. store in airtight containers. although sometimes the bulk barrel foodstuff is not so fresh compared to the individual-boxed items. which means more packaging waste. and usually more expensive because of the name brand. just give me 25 lbs of lentils, 25 lbs of rice, 25 lbs of different nuts, 25 lbs of various beans for sprouting, oh and also good tea. that is about it. maybe some simple dried fruit like raisins and apricots. that would probably last me a year!
Interesting to see how your doing things. I'm getting some good tips from you. I'm now in the Algarve and will cross to the canaries in a few weeks. Have a safe sail.
Is it funny that I have a Viking sewing machine and you have a Singer? For the chain locker, do you think you will need a strike plate on the face of the cone where the chain drops onto? That's a lot of food. I hope you guys got enough powdered milk, sugar, and vanilla extract for Johan's liking. Antarctica joke! Have a good sail and see your next video. Take care,,,
You are probably right that it would be better with some sort of strike plate to protect the cone. I think we will evaluate the box now for a couple of months and then maybe make it more permanent. Haha! Definitely better food for this trip! :-) Take care!
I started (binge) watching sailing videos last month. Your videos and the videos from Sailing La Vagabonde are by far the ones I like the most. Thank you for the amazing content. Malin is so sweet and gentle. Of course, you're both very likable and make a lovely couple. I wish you the best!
Exotemporal try Sv Delos as well

I love Sailing La Vagabonde. I've been watching since I've known their channel.
Me too but also Sailing Vatara!
So much fun to look back on this time with you two. Now you're starting the same voyage 5 years later... with a beautiful 2 year old daughter and a stunning new boat.
Your videos are FANTASTIC! Keep them coming please. I can't wait to see the crossing
That's great to hear! Thank you so much :)
Ditto

Thanks a lot Peter!
So nice to find a sailing channel that's about sailing, and not about bikinis. Subbed.
Still working on getting my gal to agree, one of these days hope to be out there.
I guess it did not work out..
Great video. It's staggering to see how much stuff you have on board and the challenge to find sufficient space to store it all. I really appreciated the comments by others about the removal of paper materials in order to eliminate a breeding ground for insects of various types. Keep up the good work.
I think I found my new favourite sailing channel.
Thanx for sharing your story
Remember to take all paper off the tins because you can get bed mites & dust mites living behind paper labels & cardboard, Ace video guys.
I have heard of that issue as well .. since this is a older video - how did it go? Sharpies (permanent markers) can be used to label the cans or "tins" as the brits say.

Thanks Billy! Glad you liked the video and the Sailing Antarctica mini series :) Cheers
Magnus, Falköping
love the sound of your voice, so soothing
I really enjoyed the content of this video, especially the provisioning process. Then ending with the chart explanation helped me understand your travels much better. Thanks. Keep 'em coming.
Glad you like the video Phillip! Stay tuned for more :) Cheers Malin and Johan
Now I see how you guys stay in such great shape. This boating stuff is hard work. Stay safe.
Haha :)
Loved the chocolate provisioning!
Great video on how to provision! You guys rock!!
Nice having a good helper, makes the Entire time a wonderful experience, 😁 looking forward to seeing you again, be well !
Wow, that was a SERIOUS provisioning run! I would guess you might be good for more than just a few months.
I really like these "technical" videos regarding how you are working things out for the adventure. Good to see how things work out.
Chain locker! Twice is always the charm!!! That was a fun video to watch!
Great job! The detail on shopping and other preperations before a passage is very interesting to me.
We loved our time in the Canary Islands so much, I'm glad to see you were able to have a great experience as well! Cheers on your Atlantic crossing, good luck!
Thank you guys!
Fair winds and wish you both all the best. Can't wait to see the video's from the crossing
I'm a Patron, but had to cut all my donation amounts because I'm buying my own boat and wanted to be a little more flexible. Your videos are great and are always of the best quality and content. Thanks for the inspiration and the views. I look forward to your posts!
Thank you so much for your support Joel! Great to hear that you're getting a boat! What are your plans? Take care!
Was an excellent idea to make curtains. It will definitely cut the heat and the boat inside will look nicer. I have made mine some time ago, and it added some charm to the boat ;)

Be safe, all,the best from another world sailor from Holland.
Thank you for your kind words! :)
Thanks, good subject, have a safe and enjoyable sail. Keep posting.
Yours is the best sailing you tube of all of those we've watched, bar none! Waiting for the next one, after. vancouver. Wondering where you are now
This episode was a hoot! Fun editing on bopping the food down on the table!
Absolutely with you on the nectar stuff. We've bought that by mistake here in France several times mistaking it for juice. It's revolting!
Love you guys. Great video and editing. A little better food planning than the Antarctica trip... That was crazy!
Good luck for the crossing ... A good informative video on provisioning and always look forward to your videos ... awesome
Thanks Ben!
Very nice- they delivered to the boat!!!
VERY INSPIRING !!! NICELY DONE, GOOD VIDEOS, LOVE IT !!! GREETINGS FROM CANADA'S WEST COAST
4K thumbs-up. Very educational. Great story telling.
you guys have a lot off fans now so cool too see that
It really is cool :)
Great video thanks for sharing. Having seen the South Atlantic videos I can see why you want more than tins of tuna this time - Fair winds and stay safe
Yes, now we have a lot of tins with tomato sauce as well, haha :) Thanks for watching and fair winds to you too!

This trip has rekindled my desire to do some more ocean crossing. Be nice to do it with my family, too. May it be so.
We're glad to be able to inspire to go sailing! :)
Wow! That was a lot of onions. You must really like them. Nice to meet you and fair winds.
Onions last for a long time but yes, maybe we overdid it a little bit :) We'll have to eat a lot of onions now!
You must be excited to be crossing the Atlantic to explore new places ? Thank You for sharing with us .
look forward to the trip
That was very informative and funny as well. Really enjoyed and have a good idea about what it takes to cross in style. Be very interesting to see what you do in 20 days when trying to find that last can of tomato paste. Good luck on your crossing and will be watching for your next installment.

Very nice, that should keep your boat cooler, great job. You are both very handy. That's a lot of food, but a good price though.
Another nice video! Best wishes from Natal (Brazil).
Safe Travels to you both! Love your videos..thank you for making them!!!!

We'll probably do this when we stock up food in more undeveloped places. And if they come, we're prepared with roach baits :)
probably to late for this comment, as you'll probably be on your way by now.

Hey guys, love your videos. If you allow those soda cans to rub together for long periods of time in a rocking boat they will rub holes in other.
Thanks for the heads up! We'll make sure to put something between them so that won't happen. Don't wanna have soda and beer and the bilge ;)
At least the beer!!!
I've also found that if thin aluminum cans come into contact with seawater, they quickly develop pin holes. :-(
You are living the portuguese sailing era!
Madeira, Cabo Verde, Brasil, ...
In a few months you will be fluent in Portuguese eheh
Fair winds amigos!

Thank you! :)
Great content.... Thank you...... Btw, those curtains will produce a beautiful diffused light in the salon, on a bright day...
Looks like more and better food than the Antarctic trip. :-) Look forward to the passage videos. And I like the Sock Cellar also.....

We like you videos very much! Thank you!

Awesome guys.... if you come to South of Brazil, to Santa Catarina let me know! It would be great to show you around!

Thumb's up 👍, now fully appreciate me hahaha 😂! Have a safe sail you two.

Very nice video.
Malin, you look better then ever!
Fair winds.
Thank you and thank you :)
Hope you guys aren't anywhere near hurricane Matthew in the Caribbean! Stay safe!
We're on the other side of the Atlantic so we're fine :) Thanks!
Thanks guys..
I would love to read your list of groceries and also your meals from the list. Curious what your meals consist of. Love your videos. Good luck in your travels.
We eat a lot of salads, couscous, quinoa, pasta, fish :)
Kudos to you guys for all the effort of stocking and making this video. I would feel like an ahole if i don't give a thumb up
You guy are awesome, I watched all of your videos in the row as soon as I found your channel. I was just wondering how are you guys in POVO, when are you planning on a new video. Spotwalla service is awesome, I am buying myself a SPOT to do the same when I am trucking.
Good video guys thanks.!
Hahahahahahahahahaha!!!! Chocolate or beer!!! You guys are killing me. Love it!
Greetings from Indiana! Catching up on a binge day... and enjoying your channel greatly... great blend of sailing, travel/scenery, boat maintenance, and cool projects! WOW! Good stuff...
I see other videos where they take off the labels from all the canned goods.
Something about insects in the glue and paper. Keep a close eye.
Safe travels look forward to your next.😎

Fair winds and following seas on your journey.
You have it raining there , funny thing it`s raining now here in Melbourne Australia.
Perfect editing. .....again,,,,,,,,,,,,,/),,,,,,,,,,thank you, sail on
They deliver your provisions to the boat? How nice.
Great vid, thanks guys. Wow lot-o-chocolate haha.
Very very nice video. : D
You guys should make a video on solar still for water or some water purification video :) if possible thanks

Nice red dress! Your dress blended in All the beautiful colors in the salon when making the drapes! Check it out!
Interesting to see how your doing things. I'm getting some good tips from you. I'm now in the Algarve and will cross to the canaries in a few weeks. Have a safe sail.
Great to hear that you are soon in the Canaries! We arrived to Mindelo yesterday morning after a 6 day sail from El Hierro. Take care!
Is it funny that I have a Viking sewing machine and you have a Singer? For the chain locker, do you think you will need a strike plate on the face of the cone where the chain drops onto?
