Hi Landon good Video. I wrote you a comment about the Pickups you didn't use. Would you be interested in selling the pair? Im a Beginner player. I enjoy working on my guitar aswell. I bought a red Sparkle Squier bullet telecaster. Those pickups that you were going to use would probably be a upgrade from the ones they use in the bullet telecaster? I love your Videos. Good Info mixed with some humor. Lol let me know if you would be interested in selling the pair thank you.

Did the same mod with a Glarry thinline body. Put a humbuckers in the neck and a rail in the bridge, three new brass saddles on a fender bridge. I had a satin maple on maple neck that turned it into a killer Thinline Telecaster. Light, powerful and great tone. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I've done a few overhauls too. Look like most of the stuff you didn't fix, needs fixing. Now I always try to find guitars that don't need everything. You have to like the neck or it's not worth doing> Fun video as always.

Yup got a a cheap Fazley for £69 GBP a year or so back. I was gonna put some TexMex pickups in it but, surprisingly, after a setup and fretlevel, crown and polish, the original pickups had a certain quality about them I liked. It's currently in the cupboard in its gigbag and not getting any love, but I loved the Burl Maple veneer finish so will get it out one day and see if I still like it and, if not, pass it on to some local school or charity. A lot of fun to be had with cheap telecasters as not too much they can mess up :)

I did a similar thing. I picked up an Encore Blaster E2 (?) T style as a practice guitar as I wanted to work on my MiM Fender neck but didn't want it to be the first neck I did a fret level and polish on. I ended up liking the Encore neck so much after I pimped it that I sold the Fender. I bought an ObsidianWire 4-way, a set of Mr. Glyn's 'Cruel Mistress' hand-wound pickups, a Fender 6 saddle bridge and a set of second-hand Fender professional staggered tuners. I also re-shaped the headstock to be vaguely Tele-ish. Now it's a far better guitar than the MiM Tele ever was and it's also uniquely mine.
Happy holidays to you and yours Landon.

I did the same thing with the Glarry equivalent. I kept the pots and wiring and added OriPure Amazon Tele A5 pickups. I also replaced the green Chiclet with a WIMA cap I pulled from my Gibson LP Tribute and a Kluson round string guide. Oh yeah... I put on a bone nut as well. It's just fine now for less than a hundo.

This looks like a natural for full shielding; I'm doing that for a Gear4Music Tele with the same price point. Also a shim is good, but first it is important to measure the depth of the cutout. A shim might not be necessary if the neck cutout is sanded very carefully.

Fun and interesting to watch and one that first timer or a parent buying a kid their first guitar should see. You are essentially knowingly buying a body and neck or acquiring one that might not be the right choice. Going a step up to another brand like Eart gets better components and likely better setup. I got the same one you did here. It too had bad intonation and string height and it was painful to hear the string move over the nut when tuning. Looked great and ended up in the hands of someone with a big parts collection.

I like giving my bolt-on's what I call a 'negative shim'.
It's essentially removing the same amount as would be added with a shim from the heel of the neck.
I also remove a sliver from the front area (below the truss-rod adjuster), which keeps the frets where they should be rather than pushing the neck away slghtly.
This allows me a back relief like a Gibson without having a detrimentally high action.

Not worth putting an Obsidian wiring kit and decent pickups in a cheap and nasty guitar like this. This treatment should be reserved for a reasonable starting guitar such as the Squier Classic Vibe. Plus you won't have issues of non-fitting pickguards, pickup mounting holes too small, incorrectly positioned bridge and so on.

    • @badhabit8824
      @badhabit8824 8 місяців тому

Actually a fender bridge will not fit a squier guitar so you would have to mod a squier body to accept a fender bridge.

    • @jjjddd231

Depends on the Squier. Not the cheap rubbish models but will work for the Classic Vibe model if you select the correct bridge.

Haha, you did a montage. Like my friend in the UK does. Keep up the good work spidy. Believe it or not, the Squier SE is a monster for modding. Years made were the early 2000s. Fat baseball neck and full thickness body. Mine is better than a fender as i modded it. Duel stacked 250k/ 500k volumes pot, ans all vintage style wiring with staggered poles on the neck and middle with a single coil style humbucker in the bridge and a vintage crl 5 way switch that you can feel the avge on. The kid before me hacked the body so i fixed all the cuts that were horrible. My free trash guitar is my favorite especially since i put the XL nut in. Secondary is my 2020 CV with most of the same upgrades.

Be aware the neck is very chunky on the Glarry Tele. I'm thinking of replacing mine, but it's really getting to the point where... what's actually left? The body... that still doesn't have through holes? Honestly, If I could do it over, I think I'd either start with a Squier or try putting a guitar together through guitarfetish and just buy the parts I wanted up front. If you want to mess with fretwork, etc., a Glarry is a cheap way to go about it. If you want to actually enjoy the guitar when you're done working on it... three Glarrys later, I'm no longer convinced that's the best way to go.

Really good video. However, I just did a video explaining why these guitars are not for beginners, but for more seasoned players with the knowledge of how to do the work to make them right. Not necessarily bad guitars, but beginners beware. Well done. Subscribed

Everyone's gone cheap ass on guitars lately. Must be cost of living crisis caused by those traitorous rich politicians, bankers and Pharma - all in bed together. You have nice higher end stuff too. What bout a comparison vid between the cheap and not cheap? Nice riffs in this vid. Marshall shredmaster sounded good.
