- We went on a flight to Victorville on October 22, 2017 and took a lot of photos of all the stored aircraft at the airport | 🛑Subscribe here ➤bit.ly/VMCAviat...
At the time of our visit, the two most prominent aircraft were the two future Air Force One Boeing 747-8, which sat on the main ramp. These two aircraft were built for the Russian airline Transaero, which went bankrupt in 2015 and the airline never took delivery of the two 747-8 aircraft.
The video itself is composed of 124 photos and is more a slideshow than a video. Well, I hope you will enjoy watching the "video" anyway.

Loved seeing an L-1011 looking well-preserved. My favorite non-Boeing jetliner.
All of these planes are champions of the sky. the fact that they flew thousands of flights and carry millions of passengers to their many destinations makes them true legends. other planes were victims of accidents that cut their lives short. I wish that we had bigger museums so that we can save these birds for eternity.
👍
Nice to know so many new planes are being built. Hard to believe 10 year old A380's are being scrapped, so many of these planes were designed in the 60's
If nobody is willing to buy a used A380 they eventually will have to be scraped.
@@VMCAviationVideos 80 million in parts is pretty good for "Scrap" but nobody seems to want a 10 year old A380 for Airline duty
Most of former Varig´s Boeings 747 are stored there, including the very first one PP-VNA, which became a Cathay Pacific cargo (new registration B-HMD). This place has a very special fleet for the history of aviation in Brazil.
There was a lone 707 in there, kind of sad to see that one go.
Monarch?!?! Surprised to see 748s and 788s! Nice collection, liked!
Thanks!
Airplanes are amazingly durable... You have still got everything from DC-3s to B-29s still flying today, that were rescued from a boneyard. I remember seeing the first 707 in Tucson, Arizona sitting in dessert in the 1980s ( first flew in the 1950s ). It is now over in Virginia after getting dusted off in the 90s and flown there in 2003 after 34 years sitting in the dessert.
Neat angle shots of the two future Air Force One Boeing 747-8, which sat 4:41. Geez? Look the size of those engines and the number of the upper level side windows. Great deal.
The amount of labor it took to assemble all those aircraft is mind boggling. Hundreds of billions of man-hours. I was a structure mechanic on the MD-11 assembly line, I know!
Wow, what a lucky guy you are. The DC-10 and MD-11 are my all time favoured wide body aircraft.
it's sad to see the Delta L1011 I flew in one back in 1995
I think there is only one or two Tri Star's still flying 😕
anyone watchin in 2019 december
anyone in december 2020
Amazing video- thank you! I enjoyed seeing the DC-8, L-1011, and many unique airlines. It's sad to see new 787s and 747s going to VCV for storage. I should try going to the airport soon...
It’s interesting the amount of UA 744’s that are bring preserved...
They are probably all gone by now😕
was surprised to see 777's out there
They're old classic ones: 777-200, 777-200ER, 777-300.
Those 777's were built in the 1990's and are old enough to be retired for spare parts.
Those planes have a decent chance to be used by a second or third rank airline or cargo line. If the carrier cannot afford something newer and think they can make money with them, they will be bought or leased. And, of course, they may go for parts.

A once proud George AFB. Today, Junk yard for old planes.
0:08 damn... that’s a lot of southwest.....
Some of these aircrafts are just being stored there. Not fully decommissioned. The ones on the paced area/engine covered.
You are correct, some will fly again.
747-8s,unscrapped 747s and A340s and also all those Southwest 737s, I would buy them for free!
the music is terribly irritating
My apologies. But It's impossible to satisfy everyone.
lol- perhaps something more classical to reflect the sadness of the boneyard
I will do my best next time.
Just mute it if you don’t like it, there’s literally nothing else to listen to. That’s what I did.
Did our soundtrack for this video just jump back into some late-1990's techno club, or is it just me?
It's just you 😄
@@VMCAviationVideos T-t-t-techno!
I can see a lot of Southwest Airlines on my 2nd story house, when the 2 future Presidential Airplane took off, it was sad but it also great to see it going to good use
👍
Fico triste de saber que daqui um tempo os Airbus A380, estarão nessa mesma situação de abandono desses aviões 😔✈️
I am sad to know that in a while the Airbus A380, will be in the same situation of abandoning these aircrafts 😔✈️
Hello - great video by the way ... can you tell me if you can get a tour around victorville? I hope to visit there in May and wanted to know whether you can get up close .... liked to the idea of your flight can you share the info how costs many thanks look forward to hearing from you. Jason
I have seen photos taken from the fence, but I myself have never been there by car, so I have no real information about that. No official "Graveyard" tours are offered at the airport. You can always charter a plane to fly to Victorville , but I'm not sure how much the cost is.
R.I.P United 747-400 1989-2017. #UA747Farewell
Leon Xu will aways be queen of the sky!!!
after see costs of what it takes to keep ‘(service) 747jumbo im not suprised to see them all in desert it almost cost same as new ! .... sad to see all aussie jumbo lined up
The 3
A340-300s there are ex BWIA a340s that were sold to Aerolines Argentina
👍
We shall in Calif next week, let us us if we can have a visit at the Airplane graveyard in Victorville. Thank you
👍
2:31 poor monarch A320.
pot van only one there :(
Explain?
VMC Aviation Videos there couple of monarchs A320 A321 unfortunately half are going to be scrapped others are going to companies but some are in UK airport storage graveyard along with the airbirlin aircraft's
It was sad to see a 50 year old airline like Monarch going under.
On Planespotters it just says this Monarch A320 (G-ZBAH) is just there for storage. Is my favourite going to be scrapped???
Two 787 at 2:31 and there is one 747 8 and a singapore airlines 777
At 3:08 there is a 747 8
That FedEx 727 missing the front half saddens me.
Somebody probably wanted the front half of a 727 🙄
They probably did that with a crane
The front half of that 727 is alive and well. It's part of the building exterior at the Museum of Flying in Santa Monica, CA.
That's a whole lot of aluminum!
...and plastic.
@787 Wing Aviation Haha, YES!
This made me cry
That place is every plane spotters worst nightmare!
Why are there 747-8 sitting there? Is it sitting there as being storage? or being store away for now?
The two 747-8 are going to be the future Air Force One.
If remember all those Volkswagen diesels at were recalled, hundreds of them ended up here in Victorville with the planes
Yup, there is a big parking lot with diesel cars, at least there was one a year ago.
Nice video
Thanks!
14 minutes of outta' focus
A whole bunch of 737 Max coming soon
10:57 and now I know a Southwest special livery plane is there..
10:57 spot the diffrence
Arizona One
at 2:27 isn't that a dreamliner. why someone supposed to retire of the newest aircrafts existing ?
They might be there just for maintenance or temporary storage.
I lost my shit when I saw the L-1011
Why? Have you never seen a L-1011 Tri Star?
Any 707,727,DC 10,LockHeed Tristar,DC9,stored there presently ,I know 707s were for 707 refueling tanker program.
Great video! What's to become of Orbital's L-1011?
The ORBITAL Triangle Star is usually based at the MOJAVE Airport. It was flown from Mojave to Ontario, California on January 19, 2018 for maintenance.
Could you tell me have the 2 monarchs arrived here? If so could you capture some footage of them please.
I'm not living near Victorville, maybe somebody else can help you out.
VMC Aviation Videos I can awnser it. I live In Victorville and I have seen the to monarch planes
Thanks Gavin!
Question. I’ll be out at VCV and I was wondering- how high above the field did they let you fly? We’re planing to fly in on a heli with doors off.
We never talked to the tower about a minimum altitude. The helicopter pilot will know what can be done legally.
VMC Aviation Videos I also saw that you were in a plane for this video, looked like a high wing. Was shooting through a window easy?
Not as easy as shooting out of a helicopter with the doors removed.
It’s so sad to see them go
Yes☹️
4K slideshow...
Correct
At 1:02 can see that white 737-400 that used to belong to Alaska airlines I flew on that same aircraft when I was coming back from Mexico
Didn’t expect to see those China Airlines a340’s
Many aircraft's are in good condition
Some are just there for storage and will eventually fly again.
Did you happen to see (G-BNLA --> BA's First 747-400) anywhere or have they moved it away from the fence? A lot of Qantas 747's appear to have been moved as well...
Thats probably G-BNLA at 10:28 Sad they moved her far away from the fence Wtf?
That's NLD at 10:28 - I checked the photos
I checked all photos but could not identify BNLA.
Sad! They might have scrapped her since she has been there since 2009. I still have hope she's sitting somewhere at VCV
Is G-BNLA at 11:27? in front of the Qantas. What we know for sure about G-BNLA is that its cockpit windows are black, no winglets, no nose cone, and it might be a door donor.
If I was a budget airline id be glad to have some of those planes.
And that's probably where many Southwest 737's are going.
The 737 ,320,some a330,767 lived to fly another day except 747_400.Most airlines are getting rid of their 747-400 to be replaced by 787 versions, A350 on medium to long routes (advantage 2 engines vs 4 engines)
But some are way old past a 20 year service
Someone help me out here, I’ve seen that a lot of airlines are retiring the 747-400 United, Delta, etc, does this mean that they will be replaced with the 747-8 on those airlines, and if not why would united order 747-8 aircraft if they were planning to retire the “747” as a whole?
United has retired its 747-400 and has NOT ordered the 747-8.
The 777s can fly further at half the fuel and maintenance cost as the 747-400s
awesome!
Thanks!
Down the street from my house lol
Is N177UA still there or has it been scrapped?
Not sure. Maybe somebody else can answer that question?
VMC Aviation Videos i can awnser it. It has been scraped
Thanks - again!
What is it with the 748-788-772 (if i am correct) doing there?
Storage, maintenance or going to the scrap yard.
I was hoping for more than Ken Burns effects applied to a bunch of still photos.
I wish that people would read the video description before they watch the "video" 😕
7:02 rip that FedEx a310
So that's where United's 747s went...
👍
You know if you have the equipment you can fly one of those 737s out of there
Mateen Khalatbari they have no fuel in them.
Son Nguyen that’s what I meant by equipment
A mint L1011 in there, and l believe the DC-8 at 4.32 now flies for the Samaritan's Purse.Notice a rather shabby Emery version there too...
Rather sad...
Thanks for watching!
8:11 NOOO NOT THE QANTAS 747S CONVERT THEM TO FREIGHTERS
👍
I lost my shit when I saw all those 744s.
Does those Southwest Airlines 737 happen to be 737-500s or 737-300s
Those are 737-300s, they were all retired on Oct. 1st of last year.
737-300
Thanks
rest in peace
IVE FOUND G-BNLA AFTER 1 MONTH. its at 10:11 surrounded by the BA 767, and that Fedex plane with the Cathay planes.
Good for you!
Had to deep search twitter to get the location. Head to contact a BA A380 pilot who got to see the plane in the graveyard. Anyhow its at 10:11

Bye bye old L 1011 delta airlines we gona miss you
I feel like those Southwest 737's are out there for maintenence
No. They are retired from the Southwest Airline fleet.
VMC Aviation Videos well.. then southwest has retired a lot of planes...
Now that's a lot of retired Southwest 737s
@@DisneynuttyRBLXGames SWA flies a lot of 737s
Those are the 737-300s and some 500s southwest took them out the fleet in 2017

I took a Tour there in 2014
How did you like that?
So many BA 747 400s well BA operated 44 747 436s so i dont know why im shocked
Edit it was actually 57 747 436s

Looks like a big REPO parking lot for unpaid for planes....
Or it a Boeing/Airbus dealership....hahaha.
Welcome to Arney's Airplanes.... We've gotta get rid of all planes.... everything must go..... so we've slashed all prices and also giving 90% off of. All Airplane parts made in Taiwan.... and any parts decommissioned have been reconditioned for the sale as well.... we've also made are Inventory lighter for full economic happiness by getting rid of metal and replacing it with plastic... like landing gears. bearings. Doors. Any hydraulic controls... and every window sile. Arney's kick ass prices. Buy it and fly it today.
It for sure does look like a REPO parking lot.
Haha, sad
Can I buy the 4 planes at 3:23
Yes, and you should get a discount for buying all 4 at once 😆
And can I also buy all those planes at 13:14 for a kick ass price
I'll take the MD-11s and 747-400s if I had the money that is
I feel the same way, I always loved the MD-11.
Especially no chance in hell Air Force one is going to be some sloppy second rate leftover from some Russian deal gone wrong doesn't matter who the president is not happening 😂
They already headed to Texas
Please tell me all those beautiful Southwest planes are being restored or saved from scrap. I don’t want Southwests planes to get scrapped
If they can't make money, they are put out here. Maybe someone would have a purpose for them but, if they stay out here long enough, they will be disposed of either for parts or straight recycling.
There is a good chance some ULCC will buy them.
VMC Aviation Videos what’s ULCC?
ULCC - ultra low cost carrier
SWA upgraded to the 737 Max pretty much all at once. It's more economical for them to do so especially when the 300s would require a retrofit to keep flying.
I'm sure these birds will be sold to other carriers and they are in excellent shape.
DC 10 AND MD 11
Rip 747s
It's always sad to see 747's sitting in the boneyard.
PLEASE Subscribe ➤bit.ly/2UQ6Yw7
rip swa 733! :(
I saw a lot of old Southwest Airlines 737s
Chris Tenorio because they retired that fleet in one go.
Somebody said they had a problem with the fuel tank on that specific 737 model. Instead of fixing it, they retire that specific 737 model. I'm not sure this is the actually reason.
Same. Southwest retired all their 737 300
Its because they are being replaced by the new 737 max
@@riggin1949 you are correct. IIRC SWA calculated it more cost effective for them to replace all the fleet with 737 Max at one time than to phase them out.
sad to see al those 747's and fed ex mad dogs all of an era gone by
yes it is indeed sad
Former presidential planes dont go to graveyards
What?!?
all those southwest
B777s in boneyard already! Wow
Tractorguy Mark they are the old ones (95 and later) I guess. But yea, scrapped after 20 years is quite less.
Some planes Die Young😕
I believe the 747-8I's were originally intended for the now-defunct Transaero Airlines. They are being temporarily stored there until around 2020, when they will be flown to Spirit Aerosystems to be upgraded to VC-25B standards.
On who’s dime? You realize that the current 742s are only 32 years old right? Plus the amount of modifications necessary to bring those birds up to requirements would be ENORMOUS!
@@brandonfeldbauer7948 Well, there's always the chance the VC-25A's could get engine upgrades and structural upgrades to make them last even longer.
@@Sacto1654 That would be the cheaper solution yes.

787's !!! Already??
Probably just for storage
How come all the British airways 747s doors are gone
Maybe somebody needed 747 doors?!?
VMC Aviation Videos I needed the doors
Have you ever driven though Adelanto (City next to VCV)?
ever thinking of changing up or down on the music...
No. So far the video has been viewed 17,000 times and everybody has different taste in music. Sorry, but It's impossible to satisfy everyone.
I do accept constructive criticism, but as I said "It's impossible to satisfy everyone".
2:25 why are there 787s there
if the engines are covered they're usually being stored for later or maybe maintenance.
Yann Gorski I think that was a bbj 787. The owner didn’t take delivery, and no one else bought it. Hence in storage.
airlines returning them becoz they regret buying them
Storage or Maintenance.
unsold new aircrafts from Boeing. Boeing stores a lot new aircrafts there ,waiting for a buyer. Like the car industry , they have to keep pumping aircrafts from their Boeing plant ( to keep business running) even if no Airlines buys it now.
0:22 Aerolineas Argentinas's Airbus A330
where ?
A340
Y r there so many southwest 737s
SWA upgraded their fleet to the 737 Max almost all at once because it was not cost effective for them. The 737-300s would require a retrofit for SWA to keep flying them.
If I had billions I'd own this place and be the worlds largest hoarder. I'd get rid of nothing.
Haha, awesome. I probably would do the same.
Sorry but there's no chance the Air Force or the Secret Service is going to let 2 future Air Force ones sit on the sidelines in the middle of the desert wrapped in plastic 😄😄 definitely not in an area you can get pictures like that.
I used to do military contacting. You will be surprised with many state secret projects hidden in plain sight. Also, just because you can see it doesn't mean you just walk to and touch it.
They look great in their paint schemes, gleaming in the desert sun. Underneath? They're junk,
what are you saying?
Many faulty parts sent for destruction, are ending up in third world countries on active aircraft. The temptation of such a large collection of "junk" is overpowering to the unscrupulous part vendors.
Couldn't watch because of the abysmal music
