the is NOTHING to do with COPPA. COPPA is about privacy and UA-cam collecting data from those under 13.
The stricter advertising laws are for those under 11.

Yes it does. What Jake is doing is advertising products that he wishes to sell to his audience, which he KNOWS are under-age.
So if you connect the dots, you'll see how he is explicitly targeting these kids with things that he wants to sell them. That in, indeed, covered under COPPA and is a blatant violation under such.
You are misunderstanding coppa. It is saying there should be no *personalized* advertising (targeted based on what they do on the platform).
A static ad in a video is not personalized. Yes, it is targeted based off the audience, but not based off of the user's past actions on UA-cam.

Undertale is known for having a really toxic fanbase, add the fact that the video was wrong poorly search/made just made him less credible. I know anyone can make mistakes but on his case (UA-camr with millions on subs and views) the audience will be misinformed and stuff because they think *"everything"* you say is truth. He should show his video/script to a small portion of people before upload with that he can fix mistake, calcul errors and have a feedback to see if the videos gonna make sense.
Also the Fortnite meteorite video where his completely forgot to add *gravity* on his calculs.

@@sambalekouy7298 Well to be fair with him, he does say in the end of every video, that it is just a theory (and therefore should always be taken with a pinch of salt) despite it being poorly developed some times (not that I don't agree that he should discuss it with a small set of people, if possible, before releasing the video so he can make sure it would be good when released). Still doing this would require more time and sometimes whole projects canceled, leading to big delays between two videos.
And the gravity factor didn't change the outcome of that fortnite video anyway, I think :/

Thank you for not sugarcoating what Shane Dawson's series really was: damage control and image rehabilitation. Wish shane would stop absolving people who have done wrong of what they've done and then getting mad at fans who reasonably dislike his work.
Jake Paul is actually doing something illegal when he is advertising towards kids the way he doing. There a reason why we don't see cartoons that focus on completely selling toys

I lost so much respect for him after his 'series'. I was already disappointed because of how badly planed and executed it was, but his reactions on Twitter were the last straw for me. A fan, that was concerned for his mental health, had to delete her Twitter because Shane publicly "called her out", which obviously led to all his fans attacking her. Shane doesn't know the difference between a concerned fan/constructive criticism and a hater.
After watching NerdCity's (and now Mat's) videos it also becomes very obvious how poorly Shane researched Jake.
I'm a Shane fan but I agree. Shane is too forgiving and kind, and he makes great videos to help people turn around. For this reason he shouldn't choose to make videos with or about people who aren't worth redemption. I mean, Jeffrey Star's series was great because we learned about WHY he did what he did and we learned about his business and actually heard about things that were new. Tana's and Jake's series were really toned down and I have to say Jake's was even worse than the Tanacon one because he was actually harsh with Tana at least in some parts but with Jake he really was too kind. I mean, Jake probably is a likeable guy when you're around him but the things he has done and continues to do doesn't deserve redemption or an image change, and Shane said he was going to be harsh but he really wasn't. I don't think Shane knows how to be harsh honestly. He's way better at being super nice and funny so he should stick to that kind of content. Maybe help people with problems that effect them personally versus trying to call them out. Like maybe help Trisha with her content and her eating problems because Shane can relate and stuff and help her make healthier content that is as fun as Mukbangs. Just an idea.
If jake paul gets sued because of his advertising, I *hope* this video is used as evidence. Probably won't be, but it would be pretty cool.

I feel this series shows a more netrual and business side of Jake Paul's life, while Shane's documentary videos are based off of why Jake is the way he is, which makes it more personal. I kinda wish Shane didn't hold back, one of reasons why I followed Shane very long ago, is because he's brutally honest but it seemed to come down and now he's just almost to empathetic.
I think that's why having two documentaties of different executions and different mindsets is very important, there is now a middle ground to this whole Jake Paul scenario.

Shane walks a very fine line that the common viewer will not appreciate because they cannot see it and they have nothing to lose. That family needs some serious therapy and confrontation and Shane realized it right away, but his crisis was the same as any chemo doctor's: how much help becomes irreparable harm? At the same time, this is something Shane wants to continue to do and as such, must remain professional.
At the end of the day, Shane's series helped people heal and revealed things that needed revealing. People go too far demanding anything things that the government does not.

I still remember when Shane talked to the Therapist, Katy I believe, he needed to remind himself that he can't help anyone unless they want that help, and I think Shane didn't want to push cause honestly? This is Jake's life, and his decisions, whether they are good or not. I mean I didn't like it that Jake still won't admit the way he's influencing children, but that's on him, it's not Shane's fault for pushing him.
And maybe with some therapy, it'll help Jake a lot, and also for his family. Shane's goal was to never find the absolute truth anyways, it was always why Jake is how he is. And yeah the guy did a lot of shitty things, but it all comes down to how the parents raised both Jake and Logan. (the mom and dad are terrible are terrible..)

Thank you for not letting Jake get off as easily as he did with Shane. With that being said I love Shane and his series, but sometimes I do feel like his videos in this category aren't always revealing the entire truth or that he's not going as in depth as he could with seeking the truth in regards to allegations or rumors surrounding the person, or that it's leaning more so to the side of rebuilding ones image rather than being brutally honest and revealing all sides and truths. Now, whether that's all intentional or not who knows, and with someone like Jake who is on a corporate leash I'm sure there were some legal boundaries in terms of questions and usable footage and so on.. but I have yet to sympathize with Jake as I slightly feel I am encouraged to do so in Shane's series with the way it is edited and done, and take it all with a grain of salt. But I seriously do hope that many more viewers will come to this, the way you edit feels more unbiased and doesn't appeal to ones emotions the way Shane's does with how it is edited, and your videos is backed with tangible evidence and facts, rather than partially being based on someone's interpretation or professional opinion. Anyway, you're doing great, keep it up! 😁

Jake Paul exhibits very immature behavior so that's why it appeals to kids and not adults.
His brother Logans channel has the same kind of fan base. During backlash to his Japan vlog and the whole suicide forest scandal, a lot of videos defending him were from teenage girls and prepubescent boys. It was seriously horrifying to see how many kids came to his defense, not even really understanding why what happened was so awful.

God damn, this is why I like MatPat; he actually does research and puts facts together in a good way, especially when he wants to. Thing with Shane is this; it is okay if he could not show or ask some things here and there but he promoted this thing as "nothing is off the table" but it was clear that some things were off the table.

MatPat didn’t sign a contract Shane did. He probably had to follow some rules to get this. Yeah he had to take things out and that sucks but it’s great when people like Mat come along and see something missing and they are like “heeeeey!” and point it out for the world to see. I think MatPat does have to be biased as well mainly due to his YT consulting that he does. He needs to be biased in a way that should potentially help UA-cam as a whole and it's creators, which I think is the only for of bias which is appropriate in these cases.

I liked Shane's series but how they ignored or quickly passed over the business side of his life and channel reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallly bothered me. Especially since Shane let him slide so easily. You're 100% right it seemed like he wasn't allowed to put it in based on whatever he signed or agreed to before recording. Shane could easily abuse his "documentary" style to show his(or whoever he is talking about) biased opinion.
I mean, he did abuse it's format to manipulate his audience in both the Tana-con and Jake Paul series. But w/e
Shane keeps wanting to portray himself as a journalist, but he's really not. He didn't go as hard on Tana or Michael as he should've about Tana-Con, Jeffree was the one who opened up about his self-harm struggles and offered to take Shane into his factory instead of Shane asking him about it, and now he didn't even bother with Jake's business. He's biased as hell, and the whole Twitter backlash surrounding the Jake Paul series showed a really ugly side to him that made me honestly disgusted.

Shane also tweeted about the length of time if would probably be until his next project and talked how much the Jake Paul series took out of him to make. A girl tweeted him respectfully suggesting that he add more people to his editing team to reduce time/stress/toll on him. So he singled her out after which his stans tore that girl to shreds. A lot of people are defending him singling her out by directly retweeting her, as it's not like it's the first time he's directly retweeted a fan,; also saying that it wasn't his intention. However, a lot people are also arguing that he full well knows the weight of his influence over his audience and how it might appear (his reply in the retweet came off pretty passive aggressive imo) considering how long he's been a social media influencer. Not to mention he also liked some of the replies that were tearing this girl to shreds. Ultimately she deleted her twitter account.
