Nice sentiments from Gyles. The Duke will be missed. The Queen especially will feel so alone now. Her family will rally round, but no one will be able to replace her husband of 73 years. Good Lord, some marriages don't last 73 days.
Why all this drama! Why king and queens ? This is very old thing ! They will not at all exist in next 200 to 500 years from now so why even bother? People love celebrity and entertainment little bit too much.
They probably will exist. Royalty aren't celebrities, those tend to be forgotten in a few years, unless iconic like Dietrich or Monroe. Whereas our monarchy has survived for about 1400 years. We tried to be a Republic between 1649 and 1660. It was so miserable that the King was invited back.
Last year The Queen paid £1,337.62 in council tax for Buckingham Palace (that's less that a one bedroom flat in Glasgow) I hope she qualifies for a single person discount now!

Duke was a very gifted man 🙏👍
Pardon.

I think at this time your comment is crass and out of place.
Frank, the council should pay her.
It's NOT her home. Buckingham Palace belongs to the State and is the chosen venue for State occasions - but not her chosen venue to live in.
The Queen also pays the Council Tax of all the staff who live there.
@@michaelmontagu3979 With the free money she gets from the prople of the UK - that's nice of her....
