My 4-year-old loved the ride. Cycle 2 was first, and my daughter said it's a bit fast. Zero tears. Cycle 1 after. My daughter said she thought she was going to fall out when it launched down the hill. Sitting Front row. No tears again. She can now go on a ride with her teenage sisters without them complaining about going on baby rides. Huge hit with my family. Making it 1m tall to ride is a huge win.
went on gold rush for the first time today. had 3 rides on it and its safe to say this is the best family roller coaster in the country. that launch on cycle 2 is honestly so snappy, especially in the back row. my friend and i just couldn't get enough of it. one of the ride staff told me that gold rush has never opened on time. the ride needs maintenance checks, operations checks, switch track checks, effects need to be checked and also the each cycle needs to be ran 3 times on each train without any problems. so it needs to do 12 different test runs before it opens to the public. its mental! but i absolutely love it and its the best investment the park has made since Thomas Land back in 2008.
It's amazing how far we've come in roller coaster engineering, to think 10 years ago switch tracks where relatively slow and cumbersome where as now they are insanely quick!
Several roller coasters have a spinning seat or backwards seat as an optional ride experience. But in terms of ride settings like this? This is a first but it’s going to be immediately followed by Jungle Rush from the same manufacturer(i believe) in Dreamworld Australia which has an inclined turntable.
Hey Shawn! I’ve been told there will be 3 cycles but they are just using 2 right now to settle in. Interesting to see how they would do 3?? Might not be true but a couple workers have told me.
I grew up in Birmingham for the first 16 years of my life up until 1994 then I moved to Devon. I lived 15 minutes away from Drayton Manor in Castle Bromwich. It was the theme park of my childhood. I returned there several years ago from Devon with my wife and step son. I wanted to take them to my place that I loved as a kid. At the time (2018/19) it still had the same charm but also some decent thrill rides. The Shokwave & G-Force roller coasters and the best ride of them all, Apocalypse. It was the first time I'd been on it then as it wasn't there during my younger years. What a ride. Sadly I won't ever return to Drayton manor now they're coming away from the adult thrill rides and going more family friendly. Getting rid of Apocalypse really surprised me. And to replace it with this very tame family friendly ride (Gold rush) is sad in my opinion. I totally get it that there has to be family friendly rides at theme parks but it doesn't mean you have to let go of the big thrill rides. Drayton Manor is big enough and I'm sure they have plenty of land to build one or two big, adult, super adrenaline coasters??? Shockwave is still decent. Although I hear they've either taken the stand up feature away or included a seated train??? That could be improved as a ride and made bigger maybe??? I've just returned from my 3rd year in a row visit to Thorpe Park where I had a blast on the new Hyperia. That park will be my go to now. Having not been to Alton Towers since 1992 I'm planning on a trip next year. The case against my angst at Drayton Manor could be that Thorpe park and Alton Towers exists for the thrill seekers and so Drayton Manor doesn't have to be like them and it would be a great case to make. But I think I'm just gutted that Drayton Manor, the place of my childhood is drifting away from the adult thrill rides 😞😞😞
Such a great family coaster, plus it’s been open longer than 1 day in a row without having to be shut down…. Go Intamin ❤ I do love Intamin though, so maybe I’m a bit biased 😂
What if gold rush enables the train to go backwards while traversing the route (starting at the top of the lift hill, towards the launch barn, and not including travelling down the lift hill)?
It seems like only a month ago we had no clue what this ride was going to be, and suddenly it’s open….??? Very much looks like a great little coaster though!
I'm going on this ride on the 14th of September. I'm going on it with my niece . My niece is 6 years old. I'm 13 years old. Would you recommend it for a 6 year old and a 13 year old?❤❤❤. Thank you so much. This really helped.❤❤❤
@@ThemeParkWorldwide yeah I know a video don’t do a coaster justice, I have to try it for myself. But compared to maybe Big Bear mountain in Dollywood, also a family ride, this looks like it crescent every hill just too slow
Jesus looks naff. Drayton Manor has purely focused on just being a little kiddy theme park now. Which is great for them but for anyone older than 11 its worthless. Bare in mind most kids from the age of 4 - 11 so 7 years of age group to worth coming here, then everyone else from ages 11 - lets say 60 wants bigger. So thats an age group of 49 years will go somewhere else for a theme park. Good call Drayton.... what a way to destroy your profits. And yes i'm aware people still go there in teens, school trips etc. But its a go there once, never again kinda thing.
Thank for sharing your thoughts. The park have definitely changed direction to be a fully family focused park, however it seems to be working great for them!
@@Beefy2203 well people are always jumping on the hype train when something new comes. Give it 6 months see how it is still going on amount of rides done compared to before. And how many people returned and i guarantee it will be massively less. So yeah i do know what i'm talking about.

Definitely

It’s such a great ride. Fantastic family coaster!
I was confused by the concept of this at first but it makes so much more sense now. What a great family coaster and addition to the park!
It’s a great ride!
Love the commentary on these POVs it sets them apart from others. 😂😂

This makes me think of wicker man where the POV looks like it would be a boring ride but in reality its probably a really fun ride

It feels so much faster when you’re on it, I’m watching this 3 days after going on it and I can’t get over how slow it looks!
Cycle 2 is supreme, we love gold rush and it has really set the bar high for family coasters. What a brilliant addition to the park.
It’s a great ride!
amazing, i have been watching this channel for ages!

I'm going in the October half term and as a roller coaster enthusiast, I'm hyped!! Awesome POV by the way ✨✨
Wow great ride thank you for sharing Charlotte and Shawn look that view amazing .
Thanks for watching!
Great 4K POV’s Shawn and Charlotte, setting 2 looked more quick and snappy than setting 1
How cool would a full scale blitz coaster be that utilised a similar setup to this to allow for two or more layout configurations
That would be awesome!
Looks great! Great theming with the backwards barn part.
Really impressed with it!
Like the second one!
Looks like fun thanks for the pov 😀
Thanks for riding with us 🤠
Setting two is the best with some good forces for a family coaster!
Definitely!
Great pov Shawn and gang
Thank you!
are there any other rides which have multiple variations in the ride experience? I know hagrids has 2 drop tracks but that is for capacity.
Nope this is a world's first
This is definitely the first kind of ride like this!

A fantastic family coaster!

They have done a great job!
This looks good fun tbh
It’s a great ride. So much fun!
I love this ride
I’m going tomorrow morning and I can’t wait to ride gold rush
Back row on that 1st cycle you did is my favourite. Get the best view of park when you reverse back up the hill, and there seemed to be more airtime.
The view is fantastic looking out over the park!
seen u their on Sunday nice meeting you definitely a good investment from Drayton manor
Hope you had a great day. It’s a fantastic investment by the park!
Excluding family thrill coasters like wickerman. This is the best family coaster in the uk by far
Definitely. It’s a brilliant addition to Drayton Manor!
Excellent all around
Sure is!
This is a Nutty Jake’s Goldmine of the future.
Such a fun ride!
Such a complex design for basically a kidscoaster, amazing. You could enter that 3-4 times in a row and not be bored i reckon.
It’s so re-rideable!
This ride so scary!! Luckily i go drayton manor every year in the summer holidays!!!! I go on every ride
Looks really fun and well paced but I do wish there was some audio on the lift hill, would really add to the immersion.
That would be great!
Looks like a cool little family coaster. Cycle two looks to be the better one. Does the ride just alternate cycles?
It runs completely at random at the moment!
Looks amzing love it
Great ride POV 👍👍😃😃
Thank you!
I miss apocalypse:(
Didn't do any research before going on this and thought it brone when it stopped then started rolling backwards. Never been so scared 😂
Nice to have another multi launch in the uk as well. Looks like a fun, pretty long ride
It is indeed. A fantastic addition to the park!
That is very interesting for a roller coaster as you never know which way you're going to go
It’s very unique!
Is there any way to predict which cycle it does or is it purely potluck?
It changes after 2pm now usually

Super innovative ride it’s a great idea for theme parks. Pay one price for two different ride experiences
Definitely
The new intamin track is beautiful
It sure is!
How do multiple trains run? Is there a train in the station until the one on the track comes back, or are there multiple trains on the track?
2 trains, train in the station is sent when the other hits the brakes
There’s 2 trains with 24 riders each. One train cycles and when it returns to the brake run the other train can dispatch!
@crashcoaster3852 thank you so much for letting me know
@@ThemeParkWorldwide thank you so much for letting me know
So, is the cycle setting totally random or is it like someone else did mention: In the morning one cycle type and in the afternoon the other?
It’s completely random now
Shawn, do both settings each use all parts of the track?
Yes!
It was only running setting 1 today so i had to know what setting 2 was like. Yeah setting 1s probably better
How do you tell which setting you want to go on?
They change it in the afternoon now
What if gold rush enables the train to go backwards while traversing the route (starting at the top of the lift hill, towards the launch barn, and not including travelling down the lift hill)?
do u get to experience both settings in 1 ride or 2 seperate rides
It’s 2 separate rides

I feel like as the years go on they'll introduce new cycles, because there are so many possibilities
Possibly so!
It's unfortunate I get so sick driving backwards, looks like a lot of fun!

Very smooth!
