I think what this really goes to show is that the fast track switch should be recognized as a notable modern innovation in the coaster industry. After Pantheon and similar coasters, Intamin seems to really be going crazy with it now. And I welcome it!
FYI, in a Q&A with the RCCGB, they confirmed they will be randomising it nxt season! I love this ride, the launches in the dynamite shed were suprisingly punchy!
It did open randonmised this season, and the "chance" worked totally against me who got the same setting 3 times. It wasn't until they changed it I got setting 1 later in the season!
This is my favourite coaster at Drayton Manor, I've had some amazing memories as the friends I was with got scared by the second cycle, they didn't know it was coming!
You guys need to get to Jungle Rush then at Dreamworld. It looks like Vekoma’s take on this concept. It just soft opened, it it appears that you either board backwards and take the first half of the ride as such before turning around and finishing the layout forwards or vice versa.
I'd ridden Jungle Rush! It's great, and is indeed basically Vekoma's version of the Gold Rush concept, but with multiple modes instead of 2 thanks to the inclined turntable
Great to see you giving the UK some love bro. ❤️ Drayton Manor used to be one of the best UK parks during the 2010s with Shockwave, Appocalpyse, Stormforce 10 and Ge Force and even the awesome lil zoo. Sad to see how far it fell during the last 15 years. And as ever, the main thing that has crippled its potential along with all UK theme parks is the crushing building restrictions placed on them. All it takes is one unruly local resident to object to the council and boom there goes your new Intamin or RMC Hyper. And no council in the UK would even come close approving a giga for said reasons. Hence they have to compromise and make it a ‘Family Park’, instead of the absolute Classic RTC beast it initially set out to be.
Drayton hasn’t got “crushing building restrictions”, anything under 25m in height doesn’t need any additional planning permissions, hence why no one could find the plans on line.
while nimbyism has been a problem across the country you are exaguratting its affect on theme parks. blackpool are pretty much fully lenient, thorpe is next to an airport and has been allowed to build two hypers. i dont think drayton has become a family park because "the council wont approve a giga", theyve become a family park because alton towers is 40 minutes away and isn't worth trying to compete with for the thrill market.
@@spark3395 completely correct, remember Drayton has had a structure 158m total height before, all the Lichfield planning wanted to see was how tall that was on the skyline which was shown to them with a large tethered weather balloon lifted to that height (I kid you not as I was present for that). What people forget is that all theme parks employ many people (and as such councils look favourably at planning applications (within reason)) who may struggle to get work elsewhere such as teenagers and over 60’s. In the late 90’s early 2000’s Drayton was by far the largest employer within Tamworth, this has only changed recently due to companies with large warehouses such as Amazon, Ocado, and even MoonPig 😂 making Tamworth there base.
I've never put a complaint in! Growing up it was the best playground back when it was tickets and your mates older siblings were running the rides so it didnt matter. Hearing the people on Shockwave is actually quite plesant in the summer. Shut the windows and can't hear it, infact in the back garden you can't really hear it at all
@ Ooooh a whopping 85 feet tall! Coar blimey imagine all the things a coaster could do with that! 🙄 Dude if they were able to build the coasters they actually wanted to when they had the money back in the 90s/early 2000s, then they never would have had the problems drawing the crowds in later years that caused them to have to sell up and rebrand as a family park. Instead they had to settle for Ge Force (which was build to the restrictions you describe) which was both not great to ride and extremely unreliable. If they were actually able to build a good old hyper or two to begin with like or God forbid maybe even a giga, then Drayton Manor would have every bit as popular as Alton Towers (which is the ultimate case of a park being utterly crippled by insane building restrictions).
We just got somewhat of a family coaster similar with different settings on the coaster at Dreamworld Australia l, Jungle Rush, although we don’t have a launch but we have the opportunity of going forwards and backwards, it opens public this Monday
It's cool how there are 2 different experiences with the layout but I dont know how I feel about it changing throughout the day, that seems odd you would have to get the right rides at the right time and only get one experience at day and one at night.
It sounds very cool but also is it not complex? Does it have as many issues as Hagrids? Because that was also a long complex ride like this does with simular systems just a lot bigger.
Would it be possible to get a true adults or ride height requirement only "Thrill Park"? Full of rides geared towards thrill seekers with no family coasters or kiddie lands. Just straight adrenaline seekers only. I think one would do killer business especially in maybe Vegas or New Jersey(I think you should be 18 to enter New Jersey*).
Thanks, I'd love to see the same idea in the States. I thought of this after a trip to Dollywood earlier this year. While Dollywood is a gorgeous park with a few great rides, the family oriented theming, rides and attractions were a drag, dodging strollers and the stray crying kid became tedious by days end.
Whoever designed this layout is a genius who deserves more jobs in the industry for sure 👏
Omg Yes Silvarett in the house guys
I've used your blueprints for planco 2 so much lol
Until it turns into a maintenance nightmare like a baby Hagrids.
Can you build a better version in Planet Coaster?

very cool, good to know!
0:56 "alternate endings" 😅 The elusive tree haunts me

The second cycle was brilliant! It shocked me the first time, and I went on about another 10 times just to experience it again and again!!
On a different note....Formula rossa was testing this morning....
I thought the launch was in pieces ??
Not anymore@CoasterThunder
Nice to know
wait are we actually back

I would love to do it one day, it sounds awesome!
So cool!!! Great video Taylor!
Both settings it's like 2 roller coasters 1 layout. It's genius.
This has to be the best family coaster I’ve been on (after storm chaser at Paultons park)
Vekoma have slowly become one of my top three manufacturers.
Interesting video to comment this on considering this is an Intamin coaster.
Maybe in some years, but for right now it’s intamin, Mack, and rmc
When Gold Rush stops on the lift it’s not just dropped but also launched back down the lift.
that’s actually good to know; i rode this when it wasn’t too busy and wondered how a half empty train picked up so much speed over a small lift hill
Would love to see something like this on a thrill ride. Not getting my hopes up, but something like this could keep a ride exciting for way longer.
Great family ride however I will say to me I wouldn't describe this as family thrill as the park were saying it was to me its just a family ride.
I agree. But I think they only consider this as "Family Thrill" because of the launch on it.
I think they threw the word thrill in there because the backwards part might freak out some little ones.

Please rank all new for 2024 rollercoasters!
soon!
Gold Rush and the Wave are my favorite rides at Drayton Manor.
I'm finally ob wintee break! And what better way to start then watching coaster studios!
Perhaps at the end of the queue, there should be three lines for "one", "two", and random
Knotts berry farm should take note. Imagine that ride indoor and themed
Intamin innovating again, gotta love the company!
GREAT review, thanks!
Wow, what a great layout!😯
It would be nice to see a top view for the layout. It is hard to follow. Super cool ride tho
I know this wasn't on your list recently, but we should see what the potential for this technology could be
Brit here. Loved it ❤
Kind of expanded the idea of Firlefranz at Bayern Park.
Are both settings the same ride length of time? Seems like Setting 2 may be slightly longer, not sure.
not sure on exact durations but they certainly felt about the same
So do the two settings count as new credits?
It's cool how there are 2 different experiences with the layout but I dont know how I feel about it changing throughout the day, that seems odd you would have to get the right rides at the right time and only get one experience at day and one at night.

Somebody call eltororyan to analyze these block zones.
Id love to see a thrilling version of this
It reminds me of Firlefranz at Bayern park

@@brigurugi this exists in U.K. it’s called Thorpe Park, aimed at older teenagers upwards

The goats 🐐
questionable runtime...
Interesting
Do vasuals even know this thing has 2 settings?:p
