  • This is a review of the Canon Pro 2100, 24" aqueous printer, Canon Professional Print and Layout software, and Imageprint R.E.D./Black by Colorbyte Software (www.colorbytesoftware.com).
At Bellevue Fine Art Reproduction we have used Epson printers for the last 15 years, but due to massive problems and defects with the Epson P-9570 we finally decided to seriously explore the Canon line of printers, and we have been very pleasantly surprised.
The color is good, and the machine handles beautifully, even with heavy fine art papers that have been problematic with the Epson printers, like the Hahnemuhle Torchon, Fine art Baryta, and Museum Etching papers. The dual rolls system (optional) is a great addition and has already increased our productivity.
We hope this video helps others who are exploring options for new printers, especially Epson users who are concerned about color differences and moving to a new system of printing. We understand that color consistency is very important for commercial printers.

I went with the pro-4100, love my printer. Such a beautiful beast of a weird shaped piano.

Love my Pro 2100. I'll be eventually replacing my Epson 9570s with a Canon Pro 4100 and a Canon GP 4000.

I am in between the 2200 and 4100 !! What do you suggest ? The rebates are making it very close in price at $3k vs $2500

@@moealyasini2784 100% the 4100 if you have room for it. They're both the same depth and height so it's just the width. The 4100 comes with way more ink and can print way larger. 4100 all the way

Don't forget the ink buffer system to use all the inks out of the cartridges, replaceable printheads without having to call for printer servicing, and less finicky in less-than-ideal temperature/humidity environments-all reasons why I have the pro 4100!

Love the video - quick question - does it lose a lot of ink to the maintenance cartridge like many complain about with the Canon Pro 1000?

    • @BellevueFineArtRepro

It does appear to put less ink in the maintenance tank than the Pro-1000. We also have a pro-1000 and that thing seems to clean itself much more. I don't know why.

How are you finding your 2100 printer for consistency in maintaining print color and tone over time? in comparison to your Epson printers?
I am use to re-profiling our Epson's about every eight moths or so, due to drift in color balance. I am considering a canon pro 4600 to replace an Epson 9900. First time I have looked outside Epson for hi end photo printing.

Will the box fit through a standard sized door or will I need to unbox it in the parking lot? Thanks for the video.

How bad is it wasting ink on cleaning cycles ? Heard Pro1000 is a nightmare wasting ink
    Is this similar ?

Oh my god, we love this thing. And I'm not getting paid to say that. It doesn't clean itself that much at all. We had a Pro-1000 and it did clean itself a lot. We seemed to go through a lot of maintenance tanks. But the Pro-2100 doesn't clean itself very often at all, and we are using this thing all day long every day.
On Monday mornings after a weekend of not printing, we always have to run a cleaning cycle on our Epson P9570s, but not on the Canon. I wish I had gone all Canon a long time ago now. In fact the other day one of my employees shouted "hey, check it out! The Canon is running a cleaning!", as if it were an extraordinary event.

@@BellevueFineArtRepro hahaha that’s awesome !! I am def interested specially now they have some good deals.. it’s just do I get 2100 for $2500 or 4100 for $3k 🧐🤨

    • @BellevueFineArtRepro

@@moealyasini2784 If you can get a 4100 for 3K, only $500 more than the 2100, I would get it. But get that second roll feeder! It's a game changer. I mean, it's really a game changer. Put the paper you use the most in the top roll and then the lower roll, paper you change out a lot. For us this is like adding another printer.
Both the 2100 and the 4100 use the same ink and head. So the 4100 gives you up to 44" instead of 24". BTW we're really surprised how easy this thing is on ink.
