    This book moved me to tears 😢. Thomas Hardy was a trailblazer in pointing out injustices and double standards

    This is scary... I just started watching and subscribing to your channel because it’s cool what you do. But what scary is that I just started reading this classic novel. Woah I feel like I’m in the Twilight Zone rn. Anyways, love your videos:)

    Hello, Micah! Would you say that this is a good book to start reading the author? Or maybe “Far from the Madding Crowd” would be more appropriate? Honestly, the later is the one that appeals to me the most, but I really would like to have a good first approach!

      Hello, Céfiro! I think that starting with “Far from the Madding Crowd” would be an excellent introduction to Hardy! It has a really nice presentation of all that Hardy has to offer in one novel, and it gives a great sampling of Hardy at his best!

    Personally, what is the best scene that you read in the book?

      I don’t want to spoil anything too much.. but the closing scene was by far my favorite!

      @valentinocaronte 2 роки тому

      Well that’s technically wouldn’t be spoiling. When it comes to the literature what do you believe specifically made it so impacting

      I’m not sure if I’m making sense but I’m talking about the technicality

      What I loved most about the literature, and what I believe makes it so impacting is Hardy’s approach to telling stories. He writes with such delicacy and gentleness, yet he doesn’t stray away from the harsh realities of his character’s plight.

      I haven’t, no! I actually wasn’t even aware that there was a film adaptation. I’ll certainly check that out!

      There are actually 3 versions of movies of this book The 1998Film Is the most popular in my opinion and it's online You just need to search it on youtube And I had a feeling you don't watch the movie because you pronounced the name wrong.

    Had this novel for 'A' Level Eng.Lit (one of 9 books) and I disliked it so, I thought (years later) why not give it another shot and I did.....still dislike it.
    However, I do prefer Hardy's poems !

      Sorry it didn’t work for you! I’m still needing to get into his poems.
