MIDI Remote | Walkthrough of the New Features in Cubase 12
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 сер 2024
- MIDI remote in Cubase 12 has been improved with the new MIDI remote control function. There are scripts you can choose for well-known hardware, so you can define your controller in Cubase 12, but creating scripts for controllers is also quick and easy. You can easily define input and output ports, controller knobs, faders, buttons and drum pads with the Cubase MIDI remote mapping assistant, letting you control numerous parameters in Cubase 12 direct from your MIDI controller.
We hope you find this video entertaining and useful. If you like what you see, please leave a comment and tell us what you think. Thank you.

Steinberg, you are really COOL! My suggestion for developing this direction is to make LED feedback for devices like Launchpad and Akai APC KEYS 25.
Great walkthrough, thanks! I need to try this out now.
Very helpful. I had failed to get it to work before watching this video - I'm set now.
Great update, guys!
Super interesting. Is there a default / factory preset for Native Instrument Komplete Kontrol?
Probably not because Native Instruments is a direct recording software competitor to Steinberg. But with this new “midi remote” functionality integration with your NI equipment shouldn’t be difficult. Novation and Arturia don’t have this problem because they are not recording software companies. Arturia writes software VST plug-ins, but that’s not the same.
How to assign faders/knobs to track fader levels and have them (if only 8 for example) follow along as you move across tracks in large track project?
Great, thanks for this inof!
Thank you for this video! I have created a new midi controller script. But with the opening of Cubase, the Dewalt script opens. How to save a new script as dewalt?
Thank you for this video!
I have mapped out my Novation Remote 25SL , but nothing happens in Cubase. Any help would be appreciated!
Perfect timing, my m-audio oxygen mini turned up 30 minutes ago :)
Half way through... Perfection in communication. Exemplary !
This is the best part of Cubase 12. I hope they fix the endless encoder bug. Midi jitter happens when using endless decoders like on NI Maschine.
Still not fixed in Cubase 13.
I've been trying to use my Midas M32 soundboard as a surface control with limited success in Cubase Pro 10. I wonder if this will do the trick in Cubase Pro 12?
How do you setup an endless encoder to operate a jog/shuttle like the jog shuttle of a generic Mackie HUI? I’d like to be able to setup a frame by frame jog wheel on my midi controller.
I've never been able to get this to work. I have the Nektar P6 and followed all the same steps but when I move any controller pots or faders nothing responds in the MIDI controller surface. I suspect it has something to do with the MIDI port set up which keeps changing. Can you do a tutorial on the MIDI port set up and its relationship to MIDI remote mapping?
A database for commercial MIDI controllers may seem large, but is essential
Thanks Greg. How do I delete a controller? I prefer to use my old Generic remote config because I cannot yet map certain functions such as "Insert 1 enable" "insert 1 disable" and "edit insert 1."
Great feature. Anyone out there who created a preset for the Ableton Push 2 maybe and might be eager to share ,-) ? Thanks in advance
now taking shared scripts for a beatstep pro :)
Darn it... I deleted a script but the control surface I created has also gone. Any way of getting it back?
complicated, how do i assign my akai mpd 18
thank you
I need to update my Cubase ;)
I cannot get this woirking. PLus in your midi remote and in Doms, you have the input out showing first yet in my version it asks for the vendor first. I have follwed this to the letter and it simply will not work! Driving me insane. I have two controllers, an Alesis VI61 keyboard and A Novation Nocturn auto map midi. Neither will work. I do have CC121 which dioes thankfully work. So what am i doing wrong? Why is my choice in the menu the other way around? And most importantly why won't it work! Please, before i lose the will to live haha. Thanks
how do you import scrpts
Track/plugin focus feature not working well with Komplete Kontrol. The moment a KK track is selected/highlighted, this functionality is lost.
@Cubase now raise the number of Quick Controls number to 16 and you will be even more awesome than you are right now! :)
Are you by chance using a nektar panorama for this demo?
:)
oh nvm it says in a menu later on in the video.
Will this allow you to map your own key command macros to a button?
yes
Okay but nothing about MixConsole, Mixer Bank Zone === Setup ===, having the 8 faders/knobs/buttons track across multiple tracks in banks of 8 faders.
I'd love to make this not AUTO in the Panarama, so that the 8 bank wont move when you select a different track. The bank of 8 only moves when you tell it to. I believe this might be limitations of the Panarama code though. But the same happens regardless to using Mixer mode (expected) or Internal (not expected).
How to configure the white and black keys?
You could make a layout that looks like a korg nanoKey or a McMillen qunexus by creating buttons as proxies for the keys.
Novation Impulse 49???
It will work. I have an Impulse 25 and it works. The only thing that I Can't find til now is how to map the pitch band and the Modewheel, since they don't have a specific CC.
@@arnelpierretime2210 thank you
@@arnelpierretime2210What do you mean they don't have a specific CC?
There is a utility in Cubase which when moving a hardware midi cc controller, it shows you the midi information that Cubase receives from that controller. I don't remember its name and i'm away from my studio right now. Search for it.
When you try to assign the pitch bend and the modulation wheel, moving them on the hardware does not automatically assign them to the clicked control inside MIDI Remote?
Is the Cubase MIDI meter/indicator showing any activity when you move those 2 wheels on your hardware?
