Marcos Pérez Jiménez was a Venezuelan military and general officer who took power in late 1952 and became part of the ruling junta. He was a nationalist and an anti-communist who helped transform Venezuela from a rural country to prominent regional power by 1958. He would later go into exile after a successful coup against him in 1958.

South America is such an anomaly. Venezuela, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, all of them have once built beautiful and orderly societies with strong militaries but the instability of the region always seems to bring it crashing down.
I have hope that our neighbors to the south can rise to the greatness they are so capable of achieving.

The Philippines had a similar thing of a strongman with a military junta in the 70s. It wss called the New Society Movement (Kilusan ng Bagong Lipunan) under Ferdinand Marcos. Hope you can do one video about that too.
My father told me while I was growing up, "Say what you will, objectivly those were some of the Philippines's most successful times."

That's the only thing I admire about my country, Argentina, unlike almost all its neighbors it reached it's peak under a true liberal government in the 1910s and 1920s. I admire the anti communist regimes of the 50s and 60s but i will forever cherish our brief period of glory in the 20s.
