A fantastic reaction 🙆🏾‍♂! I see that you have reacted to Boyz II Men before: Motownphilly, End Of The Road, Vibin, Let It Snow (w/ Brian McKnight), One Sweet Day (w Mariah Carey), Hey Lover (w/ LL Cool J). On Bended Knee was released as the second single from Boyz II Men's 1994 album: II. It was written and produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. The song reached #1 on the Hot 100, #2 on the R&B chart and #8 on the Adult Contemporary chart.
The music video was directed by Lionel C Martin and featured acclaimed actresses: Kim Fields (The Facts Of Life/Living Single), Renée Jones (Days Of Our Lives/Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives), Lark Voorhies (Saved By The Bell/In The House) and Victoria Rowell (The Young And The Restless/Diagnosis Murder). The music video was filmed in New Orleans, Louisiana. It includes footage from Audubon Park, a streetcar, and the French Quarter.
    Critical Reception 🗣:
Gerald Martinez from New Sunday Times wrote that the song, along with its predecessor "I'll Make Love To You", "tries to recapture the magic of "End Of The Road", and they come close. Big production numbers with solid hooks, they should be flooding our airwaves for the next few months."
Paul Evans from Rolling Stone declared it as a "lush swoon-and-croon" ballad "of the kind the Boyz' hard-core fans demand."
    Boyz II Men Info 📜:
Boyz II Men aka B2M, are from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and best known for their emotional ballads and a cappella harmonies. During the 1990s Boyz II Men were comprised of: bass singer Michael McCary, baritone Nathan Morris alongside tenors Wanya Morris and Shawn Stockman. Michael McCrary left the group in 2003 due to health issues which were eventually diagnosed as multiple sclerosis (MS). Boyz II Men still actively tour as a trio: Nathan Morris, Wanya Morris and Shawn Stockman.
Boyz II Men, originally named Unique Attraction, was formed in 1985 by Michael Grimaldi, Nathan Morris, and Marc Nelson at the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA) along with fellow schoolmates George Baldi, Jon Shoats and Marguerite Walker. In 1987 Wanya Morris, who sang in the school's choir along with the members of Unique Attraction, joined the group and became a permanent member as a freshman. In 1988 George Baldi, Jon Shoats and Marguerite Walker all left the group due to their HS graduation. The remaining members then recruited Shawn Stockman after seeing him perform a solo in the school's choir. After an encounter in a school bathroom, Michael McCary started singing along with the group and eventually became the group's new bass singer. With a permanent lineup of members, the group rehearsed in the high school's bathrooms, on the corners of their schools, and in other local areas. At CAPA, they were mentored by LaDeva Davis.
Finding inspiration in New Edition's harmonies and routines, they eventually renamed the group "Boyz II Men", after New Edition's song "Boys To Men", from their 1988 album: Heart Break. After performing at a Valentine's Day party at school in 1989, they snuck into a concert put on by local radio station Power 99 at the Philadelphia Civic Center. Their plan was to find Will Smith backstage and perform for him. However, while looking for Will Smith, they happened to cross paths with New Edition member Michael Bivins. After they sang New Edition's "Can You Stand The Rain" for him, Michael Bivins and everyone in attendance, including other celebrities, were impressed. He then gave the group his number and told them to give him a call. Nathan Morris eventually called him, and he agreed to manage and helped produce the group.
The delay before recording their own material and reported personality conflicts led founding member Marc Nelson to leave the group, making Boyz II Men into the quartet that found international fame: Michael McCary, Nathan Morris, Wanya Morris and Shawn Stockman.
The group gained international success in 1991 beginning with the release of top 5 singles "Motownphilly" and "It's So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday." Their number one single "End Of The Road" in was released in 1992, and topped music charts across the globe. "End Of The Road" set a new record for longevity, holding the number one spot on Billboard Hot 100 for thirteen weeks. Boyz II Men broke this record with the subsequent releases of "I'll Make Love To You" and "One Sweet Day" (with Mariah Carey), which, at fourteen and sixteen weeks, respectively, each set new records for the total number of weeks at number one. "I'll Make Love To You" topped the charts in Australia for four weeks and garnered international success.
Consequently, Boyz II Men is among the music industry's elite with regard to time spent at number one in Billboard history - with 50 cumulative weeks. Boyz II Men has received four Grammy Awards, nine American Music Awards, three Billboard Awards and seven Soul Train Awards. These achievements were enough to earn Boyz II Men recognition as Billboard magazine's biggest boy band during the time period of 1987 to 2012.
In June 2017 a section of Broad Street (from Christian to Carpenter Streets) in Philadelphia was renamed "Boyz II Men Boulevard". This section of the street is near the Philadelphia High School for the Creative And Performing Arts, where the members once attended.
Also, the group made a guest appearance on the tv sitcom The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air (Season 4 / Episode 13: Twas The Night Before Christening) in which they sing at Nicky Bank's christening.

Some good Boyz II Men songs 🎶: It's So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday, Uhh Ahh, A Song For Mama, I'll Make Love To You, Water Runs Dry, In The Still Of The Night (I'll Remember), Thank You, 4 Seasons Of Loneliness, Please Don't Go, Doin' Just Fine, I Will Get There, Pass You By, Thank You In Advance, What You Won't Do for Love, I Remember, One More Dance, Losing Sleep, Color Of Love and One More Try (w/ BBD).
Fun Fact 🕵🏾: On Bended Knee is notable for having replaced the previous Boyz II Men single, "I'll Make Love To You", as the top song on the Billboard Hot 100. This was the first time that an act had replaced itself at number one since The Beatles, when "I Want To Hold Your Hand", "She Loves You" and "Can't Buy Me Love" monopolized the top of the chart for a total of 14 weeks.

Yeah they shot this video in my city of New Orleans. I remember in High School in 96 or 97 when this came out everybody was saying that. See y'all younger people don't understand how good BET use to be. They had so many shows back then on BET. They had Video Soul, Video LP, Rap City, Teen Summit, Caribbean rhythms, and some other shows showcasing all these black music videos all day long. And these shows was like two hours long. And they also had serious shows like Our Voices and BET news and other shows. I remember back in the day we would watch BET all day long! The Entertainment was so good to the only time we turned away from BET was because our parents wanted to see the world news and local news, but right after that it was back to BET. BET was doing so good to where MTV came up with Yo MTV raps and they use to have the MTV unplugged to try to compete. But they mainly had MTV weekend rock and then VH1 came along and they use to play music videos all day long trying to compete too! But BET was the first music video station. I going to try to come back with some of the old BET shows to show you how good we had it back then.
