  • This short recording was produced as part of a project which Michael Fortune conducted with young people from the Castletown area of North Wexford.
This recording was made by Michael as the young people sat behind him as he asked their neighbours questions relating to local folklore in their school. The Castletown area is on the northern tip of an area called The Macamores on the east coast of Co. Wexford. The areas accent and folklore has changed dramatically over the recent decades. due to a variety of reason.
This project ran from September 2014 to June 2015 and was produced as part of Wexford County Council's 'Artist in the Community Scheme' and supported by Wexford County Council, Castletown Liam Mellows GAA club and Scoil Ghormáin Naofa, Castletown.

My uncle was born with a caul on his face. It gave him the ability to see and speak with spirits that hadn't crossed over.
