I currently have my 2004 yfz450 getting repaired, new motor, top and bottom. electrical issues are still present, looking into new TPS Sensor, Coils and or CDI box…first one showed is nearly identical.
Are you thinking a 1st gen 450 or 450r? I probably wouldn’t go over $4,500 on a 1st gen unless that is what you really want. You can find really nice 450r model year 2020 and newer for $5,000-$5,500 if you pay attention. Of course usually the more you spend the nicer the machine so it all depends on budget. And I wouldn’t pay $10k for a used machine unless its a 2022-2023 that was barely ridden as you are now getting close to new prices.
They did the major engine overhaul in 2006, but the oil modded wasn't added until 2007. Along with tweaking the clutch, updating the brakes, and changing the handlebars. I think I said the 80 changes occurred in 2007, which wasn't correct. Thanks for catching.

Good luck getting it sorted.
What’s the most someone should spend on a stock yzf450?
