brainstorm! brainstorm brainstorm brainstorm! it took me months to come up with the idea i ended up choosing. also your anecdote really doesn't have to have anything to do with the actual topic of your essay. mine had nothing to do with poetry. it's all about the connections you make

so it totally depends on the school, but for stanford specifically you'd just apply to stanford in general and then pick an engineering major when you get here

So if you make multiple drafts, did you have people proofread every single time? How was your experience of that proofread and editing process, and how would you approach them? i wrote one common app essay and several supplement essays. i don't think there's any reason to write more than one common app essay
