- Steve and family end their trip with a visit to Huahine, French Polynesia in the South Pacific and carry out two hikes. The first is a family hike to the summit of Mount Pohue Rahi. The second is a solo hike by Steve to the summit of Mount Tapu. Also includes feeding the Blue-eyed river eels in the village of Faie and snorkeling off the beach of Hotel Le Mahana. Part 5 of 5. Filmed June 27-July 1, 2022. (Be sure to read the important Safety Alert about South Pacific hiking at the end of the video.)
I dedicated this film to my mom, whom I lost on July 8, 2022. The last time I ever spoke to her was during my visit to Huahine.
Looks like a beautiful, green, and flourishing adventure. French Polynesia is definitely a nice area.
Hi Steve, thank you for the great videos of your hiking adventures! Your videos were the only ones I could find on youtube of hiking in French Polynesia. What are your island recommendations for great/safe hikes (shaded a plus!), calm (glass-like) water, lush, rainforesty, jungle-like and dramatic mountains? We're planning our visit. Blessings!
There aren't really any fully safe hikes in FP due to the climate and lack of trail maintenance. Two hikes that might fit most of your criteria are Three Coconuts Pass and Three Pines Pass on Moorea.
Where's the Trailhead????? Thats what we all want to know!😢
Did you cruise with Paul Gaugin?
No, we did not. We took short flights between the islands.
