- अध्याय 1 का श्लोक 13
ततः, शङ्खाः, च, भेर्यः, च, पणवानकगोमुखाः,
सहसा, एव, अभ्यहन्यन्त, सः, शब्दः, तुमुलः, अभवत्।।13।।
अनुवाद: (ततः) इसके पश्चात् (शङ्खाः) शंख (च) और (भेर्यः) नगारे (च) तथा (पणवानक गोमुखाः) ढोल, मृदंग और नरसिंघे आदि बाजे (सहसा) एक साथ (एव) ही (अभ्यहन्यन्त) बज उठे। उनका (सः) वह (शब्दः) शब्द (तुमुलः) बड़ा भयंकर (अभवत्) हुआ। (13)
हिन्दी: इसके पश्चात् शंख और नगारे तथा ढोल, मृदंग और नरसिंघे आदि बाजे एक साथ ही बज उठे। उनका वह शब्द बड़ा भयंकर हुआ। (13)
किसी और के जीवन की नकल करके पूर्णता के साथ जीने की अपेक्षा अपने भाग्य को अपूर्ण रूप से जीना बेहतर है। आत्मा विनाश से परे है। कोई भी आत्मा को समाप्त नहीं कर सकता जो शाश्वत है। प्रत्येक निस्वार्थ कार्य, अर्जुन, ब्रह्म, शाश्वत, अनंत भगवान से उत्पन्न होता है।
