- In today's Tips & Techniques Tutorial, I show my method to create a free-standing 'Midollino Root Structure', perfect for designing your flowers foam-free in a large bowl or low glass cylinder.
This mechanic is inspired by ROOTS, mimicking the organic foundational structure for flowering options from lush garden style to minimalistic Zen design!
Let me know how you could see yourself using this structure!
You'll see two of my previous mechanics shown in this video as well! The Chicken Wire Pillow and Midollino Extender tutorials can be found via the links below!

This is such a cool idea!! I'd imagine it'd be very fun to design with silk flowers to have a permanent sculptural piece. I might grab some supplies and try it soon!!

Omg I can't find where to buy medollino in Australia. I'd buy it from overseas if any offer shipping to Australia, can anyone help?
Kelly, you can use round reed from basketweaving supplier. The recommended gauge is #3 or 4. Hope this helps you find this similar material that I am using now. It’s stronger. Xxx💚
Thank you so much! Does some one know how to translate Midollino in french? I don't see what it is but would like to buy some. Thanks!
It’s a type of cane, or rattan.
