    I use darktable and Gimp on a Linux system rather than Adobe software. However, I can easily translate these techniques to darktable. It give a new dimension to shooting in dull, overcast weather so a very useful video. Many thanks. subscribed.

    Hey Christian, what is the source of the light that illuminates the boat but not the pillar next to it or the water around it? I'm asking for a friend who understands how light works. Great job, but the way.

    • @ThePhlogPhotography
      @ThePhlogPhotography  7 місяців тому

    Interesting tutorial, good explanations. For the masking. Where you want to “intersect” try only hold alt key. The buttons Add and substract will change. Its much faster and easier then going with full menu

    • @ThePhlogPhotography
      @ThePhlogPhotography  7 місяців тому

      Hey, thank you for pointing out the shortcut! However, I have tried this a few times, but the buttons wont change, I'm not sure whats going on here :(

  • @godstrike12
    @godstrike12 6 місяців тому +1

    Some nice techniques here, however as mentioned elsewhere in the comments the water reflections cannot be brighter than the sky. I would also add that the boat reflection on the water is now too dark compared to the hull adjustments you did. This is the danger of spot adjustments, go to far and it breaks the reality of the image.

    Great video, first-time viewer. Can you tell me how/what you're doing to be able to select everything at one time, then removing them all together ??, I didn't know this was possible

    • @ThePhlogPhotography
      @ThePhlogPhotography  7 місяців тому

      Thank you so much! Do you mean during the masking process? Basically first you create a mask (for example select subject) you can then further adjust the mask by subtracting, adding or intersecting other masks with it and thus you can create very complex selections in your photos

    • @sleekimagesphotography
      @sleekimagesphotography 7 місяців тому +1

      @ThePhlogPhotography No I'm actually referring to at the 11:00 minute mark when you go into Photoshop. You were removing several things and selecting them all together then deleting them all at one time. How were you able to select multiple areas to remove all together then delete them all at the same time ?? Hopefully that makes sense

    Excellent video as usual. One thing I've wondered about, do you add any extra sharpening upon export (sharpen for screen etc) or do you leave it as it is??

    • @ThePhlogPhotography

      Thanks a lot! I use the TK Panel plug in in Photoshop to downsize and export my images, the TK panel will also add some more sharpening while exporting

    This is a great content & editing was good. But I think the horizon line is a bit tilted, so you had to rotate the picture slightly. Thanks again 🤍

      Debatable! this is a lake not the sea, if the far edge of the lake is not parallel to the viewer then it will not be horizontal.

    Some criticism. Reflection of the sky is brighter than sky itself. boat is a lot brighter than its reflection. This is not a photo anymore.

  • @chromagraphphotoart

    Problem here is that the reflection of the clouds in the water is brighter than the sky. That cannot happen.
