Nice to meet you Carl , great video. Sorry I couldn't let you have the wheelbarrow to put your pack in smiles. Keep up the good work with the videos Rob
Thanks mate really appreciated and thanks for watching at least you have now seen what I was doing as I probably looked a bit dodgy. I will have your wheelbarrow for the next one😉 have a look at part 1 and keep an eye out for the next one and maybe our paths will cross again one day 😁👍
Great video there Carl, nice editing!👍😁Great hike, glad your son was ok in the end but you did the right thing going back. Alway’s another day! Thank’s for sharing, atvb to you, Paula & Adrian😊👌
Thank you really appreciated and I will be back there there in a couple of weeks not sure whether to start the whole thing again or start from where I left it last time 😁👍
Dartmoor Explorer do what you feel is best Carl👍see nearer the time how you feel, either way I’m sure it will be a great video. Have a good evening! ATVB to you😁👌
Great video, your footage and commentary was excellent. Glad your son is ok. Regarding the discrepancy between the OS map and waymarked signs, I think they recently re-routed the trail to avoid crossing a road, so you were right to follow the signs rather than the map.
Thanks for watching Chris and for the kind word's it's really appreciated.im glad I did follow the ground marker and I do believe that the ground markers are more up to date than maps and even though I only brought the map for that area last year it was on a deal in WHS so more than likely it's an older map😁👍
I think it's really good the Dartmoor Explorer out and about Carl. And what a fabulous way to hike. It looks beautiful. Mind you watch out for them cow pats as you enjoy the woods. Ha ha! Hey you could always sit on your pack - I do. They make for a good seat (the sleeping bag end). The stillness was wonderful Carl - doesn't it make us feel good mate? Aaah it just goes in! I was sorry though to hear of your son Carl. I would do the same - ensure his well being. I hope he fared OK. There were some good highlights on this one though. I'll watch part 2 later. I haven't been getting notifications - have to check them manually so didn't get this but well done - really pleasant video. Until next time all the best. Mark
Thanks mate yes it does make a change going somewhere different and I will be doing a lot more of it as well. And I would much rather stepnin cow poo than dog poo in fact on my next video you don't see it but I step in dog poo and end up trying to find cow poo to step in to clean my shoes. My sin was better than we thought he would off been but better to 've safe than sorry. And that's strange about not getting notifications unless you need to press the bell icon again.😁👍
@@Intotheoutdoors69 A pleasure. Yeah you're not confined to the Dartmoor. We used to play cowpat fights when we were young. There alright to step in but the dogs - maaan why so smelly? Good that your son was well. As for my notifications they're not coming through to my inbox. I can still search subscriptions via my channel but that;s manual and some day I miss uploads.
There will be big changes to my channel soon but all will be revealed soon anyway I had better get back to watching your part 1 of the Elan River and really enjoying it I've just got to the part when you reach the road😁👍
Nothing to be ashamed about the size of your pack, I get a sweat on just looking at it lol. Nicely done and a good watch. Glad the lad is ok and better to be safe than sorry M8 ATB Steve.
Hi Carl, Nice video mate and well filmed and edited. Like you said family comes first and I'm glad he's ok Looking forward to you uploading the ext one ATB Mike StayCornish😬
Hi Carl...nice to see you back, even if it was for a short time. Sorry to hear about your lad and hope all is well now. Looking forward to seeing the rest of your journey. ATB to you and yours for the future. BTW I have started some short filming on the moor and hope to publish when and if their quality improves. Take care ! Mike (Tucker)
Thanks Mike didn't think I was gone for longer than normal. My son is fine now thanks and I'm sure your videos will be fine my first one's aren't that good but I have improved and that will be the same for anyone that starts you tube we all get better. And I noticed you changed your you tube name 😁👍
Thanks Patrick and the train passed me going the opposite direction towards Exmouth train station which I wasn't to far from and that is the end of the line so I decided to wait for it to come vack as I k ew it wouldn't be at the station for long before it come back. And I knew it would make a great shot😁👍
Great video mate you were certainly doing well. We will have to arrange a long walk about soon. Glad your son wasnt as bad as last time. Take care and remember the trail will still be there. Cheers Karl
Thanks Karl and let's just hope it's still there in two weeks time😂😂 Dave has said if I give him dates he might be able to come and tour more than welcome to come if you can make it😁👍
@@Intotheoutdoors69 if it anyway of it goes into Friday after 1400hrs into weekend I'm down for meeting you on the trail for a stealth camp.. Take care mate cheers Karl
Great to see you tackling a long-distance path, Carl. I enjoyed every moment and I'm always impressed by how well you capture things with your phone. Sorry to hear about your son (I also saw your Instagram post) and I'm pleased to read he's doing better. Interesting to notice that discrepancy between the path on the map and following on the ground. I guess you could always try the other path when you revisit. Regarding pack weight: I think we need to start off with something (even if it's too heavy) before we can have a true idea of what's right for us. It's all part of learning. All the best!
Hi Olly thanks for watching and it's the first one I've done since starting you tube and will start to do a lot more. Thanks for the kind words about my filming it's really appreciated. And my pack weight really does need to come down. I'm going to attempt it again in a couple of weeks not sure of exact dates yet but your more than welcome to come and do it as well if you got the time😁👍
Thank you, Carl. I'm really grateful for the offer, although I don't think I'll be able to do it on this occasion. I would like to meet one day... Maybe for a wild camp in the spring? I'm a bit too soft to attempt camping at this time of year... ;-D
That's fine mate it's not everyone's cuppa tea to go camping this time of the year but we will definitely do something in the spring. Whether it's Dartmoor, long distance or I do fancy doing the quantock hills sometime and I know that's your part of the world. Don't know if your allowed to camp there or not😁👍
Definitely not allowed to camp on the Quantocks (although I've thought about it) but it's a place I'd strongly recommend. ;-) I may be down near Okehampton in late November with a walking group but it all depends on finances right now.
Yes it looked stunning and if I did camp there or would be on film that I respected the place and not trashed it. And hope you make it down in November I'm lucky that I get free travel on the busses so if we did meet up tour way in the spring or won't cost me travel money😁👍
Woodbury Common, well known to all RMC's, it's where we cut our teeth to become a Green Beret. It sounds like your son may have CROOP, our son had it, has trouble breathing and iff they panic it gets harder to breathe, a Nebuliser is useful but we would take him to the bathroom and put hot taps on for the steam, steam helps ease the symptoms and their breathing, hope he's alright 👍
Thanks for watching mate so you know woodbury common well then it's lovely up there and when I go back I will be going to the view poi t bit didn't have time on this occasion. Yes steam does help but it's not croop and he's good now thanks 😁👍
Thanks for the upload. I'm embarrassed to admit this, but despite walking in area around the Exe a great deal, over the last few decades, I had never heard of this walk before! Opps! 😂 I'll add this to list.

Thank you and my son is ok now and glad he wasn't as bad as we thought he was going to be. The trail was great and when I'm on Dartmoor my pack is normally heavier but because of the miles I was supposed to do it was lighter than normal but still heavy 😁👍
I was really enjoying this video as it’s somewhere new and makes a change from Dartmoor. I hope your lads ok now family always comes first. I was getting off of the Matford park and ride and could of sworn that was you who got off as well. Didn’t want to say hi in case it wasn’t you.
