Ken White Construction everyone says they don’t back blade for grading because they are trying to look better than the next guy. I don’t care what way it gets graded, I care about if it’s graded correctly, looks good, and the job was done as fast as possible so we can move to the next job.
Only reason your not supposed to back blade is because while in reverse on track machines your undercarriage wear is much worse than it is while going forward but like u said for finish grading gotta do what ya gotta do to get the job done
We used leftover asphalt grindings for our main entrance. They work pretty well. After a few hot weeks and driving it basically turns into a paved road lol.
I get it a lot of old school Operators hate on back blading but I still find it Necessary sometimes. But if I only have minimal lines at the end I honestly just go over each one with the track them reverse on the same one and track compact. Easy way to smooth out small lines and keep your grade.
YES DOZER CONTENT! It’s 2021 right now and we haven’t seen the dozer since last years snow storm witch was 2019-2020 so we need to see some nice dozer content soon, I know that your on break now but when you come back I would really love to see some dozer content! Have a great week my dude!
Doze it brother! Great video as always! When you’re as good as me you don’t have to back blade 🤣🤣 JK I always back blade when finishing. 👍🏻. Thanks for the video!
More dozer action! Also, back blading is not a crime when finish grading. I’ve seen it done. I’ve been told it’s fine. Some people say it wears the cutting edge down faster and exposes all the hoses and hydraulics to danger, but 🤷🏽♂️. Also, the little 450 sounds dirty when she’s idling #Dozin
I agree with you on back dragging. Your not the kind of person that cares what other people think. At least from what I see and know of you on these videos. Keep making the content that’s all I care about watching.
I don’t see a problem blading both ways, as long as you aren’t trying to move tons going backwards. On loaders they say its bad because it can bend cylinders, Only thing it does is more wear as it’s touching the ground both ways. But if not, no deal.
Hey Guy ! Im a French contractor in the excavations and i love so much your video ! I made vidéo in my UA-cam Chanel again :) One question , what is your drone for filming in thé Sky ? ;) Good day for you and your team 😁👋
I've heard of you guys a lot. I live around the carp area and my grandpa has an old 1985 John deer 450C and some excavators. we should meet up sometime and do some jobs together.
Nothing wrong with back dragging for normal people. All equipment is made for such. Some equipment transmissions clutches can't take loading in reverse as can in forward but back dragging don't load as much. Ignorance started the no back dragging crap.
@@KenWhiteConstruction I never thought I needed one either till I bought one. Works great for snow. I bought a nice Champion that was owned by the state hwy department for less than 30k. Well the problem with your comment is the whole saying don’t buy fancy shirts, I ordered 2 of those Oakley shirts about 2 years ago and still Rock them, and I order hats and work shirts for my guys because I want them to look clean and professional. We get comments all the time about how presentable we look on site. Especially Ottawa being a government city. That being said I really appreciate the comment and the support! Thank you
Haha I get told all the time Brian oh you should never back drag...well how do you get rid of track marks than? Yes we are right beside a Komatsu dealer. Very handy.
what is your take on back-blading for final grading? also do you want to see some more dozer content? lemme know down below!

Knock it down the first pass going forward and while reversing to setup for your second pass back drag. That way you’re always moving material
What’d the paint job cost?
Floating the blade and finishing the grade looks smart. It’s an actual function mfr’s out into the machines for a reason, so it’s correct to do lol.

Buy a grader instead of the fancy shirts hats and decal stickers
For the one time a year a need a grader? Makes sense. Can I borrow 300 thousand dollars?
