You can give kids the option: "Would you like A or B for dinner?"
Say lasagna or chicken and potatoes or something. Normal, healthy options. It gives you control but let your kids feel like their opinions matter, too. The only time I might give them full control, with a reasonabe limit, is on their birthday. Making it more of a treat than an every day occurence.

This is an old episode. She ended up losing almost 300 pounds and has kept the weight off. It takes a lot to unlearn lifelong habits. She felt big emotions and it was rough getting started but she stuck with it and showed a lot more willpower in the end than a lot of people could muster. We all feel like quitting at one time or another, this is a good reminder that sometimes you gotta throw a fit but keep going.

After I had my daughter, I got divorced from a monster. My daughter was 4 years old. I was totally alone, on my own, no family to support me, and over 300 lbs. I gained so much weight because I was in a horrible relationship. After my husband left everything for my daughter was up to me!! I put her needs before my own! I went to college online, worked 2 jobs, and lost over 100 lbs! Today, I'm 170 lbs, I have 3 Masters degrees and am an administrator at a school, and my daughter is 29, and has an amazing work ethic and is such a good girl. You have to love your children before and above everyone and everything, including food!! It can be done, but if you don't have a good work ethic, you won't make it..buck up!!

Part of the problem is that when people get that big, their stomachs are never full. Combine that with the psychological issues that drive some people to eat and become that big in the first place, you have a nearly insurmountable problem.

@@pontifixmax right. My point is they are going to have to go through those uncomfortable things if they truly want to get better. A lot of times they won’t get the mental health help to go along with it and unfortunately their loved ones end up having to carry the burdens and bury them. I just mean that if at all in my control, I couldn’t feel like a good mother if I put food before my kids having me in their life. And the kids suffer and follow the same path because it’s modeled as okay. I think this show offers surgery free of charge and if I was given a life saving opportunity like that, I couldn’t in good faith squander it.

You don't have to start doing heavy duty workouts. Just start walking around the block, next walk around twice and then walk around three times and so on.Just start walking. Nature walking is good for your mental emotional as well as physical health. You feel so much better taking these walks. Consistency is key. "Step by step life is a cinch, yard by yard its hard"

She outright lied to the doctor, 'I walked the whole store', she rode a scooter! 'I did not eat anything I should not'. She had fries and hot dogs. She said herself she was cheating as she was eating it.
And then says oh fine, I will starve myself for the next two weeks.
She needs someone looking over her shoulder, helping her shop for food, prepare meals, reeducating her on food and the family. How to feel full, nourished, proud of herself.
Meal prep also so proportions are sorted. Most people are not taught an healthy way to look at food, many are grazers, nibbling throughout the day, some skip meals regularly which again is not good. Education is key.😊
