  • In this video we set out to create the world's cleanest worship keys rig ever without spending massive amounts of money. If you're looking to level up your keys rig on a budget this video explains simple best practices to keep things looking clean and functional.
It doesn't have to take an extra 30 minutes every setup to get things looking clean. On the contrary we theorized that if you put a system together for how you setup your rig you'll end up actually saving time AND have a prettier looking rig because of it.
If you're not sure how to begin the transition to a software keys rig, this new video is a crash course in midi and audio gear for worship, what keyboard and computer to pick, and how to get yourself set up fast for success.

Another cable concealing method is cable raceway. 3M backing, has a lid, and you can get them in black. Perfect for use on square tubing style stands.

As someone from a synthesizer/sampler background, these photos are hilarious... you should see the cable mayhem I was able to manage on my desk of 20+ synths and samplers. cable trays and zip ties are your biggest friends when doing cable management.

Found this really helpful. I've got an old M-Audio Prokeys 88, hooked up to MainStage. I honestly don't do much with it right now, but want to compose more and create fun kids music to complement what I do. Loved your studio, it's lighting and your video editing. Keep up the great work 👍

I don’t have fb, would love to see the pics people posted on something like ig. But this video is exactly what I wanted and needed to see. Thank you 🙏🏾

Nice video! I’ll add that I bought an inexpensive “percussion tray” that mounts easily to my laptop stand. It holds my interface and powered USB hub so it’s not sitting on the ground. Makes for a clean look.

I like how the screen shakes when he says "chaos," but the screen is shakier when he says "total chaos"

One thing I found very helpful was automotive plastic conduit for wiring harness which you can pick up at any auto parts store. You can get them an inch and a half wide or 2 inches wide, and they help to keep your cables all together so it doesn’t look like Skylab on the stage.. another thing you can do, get yourself every color of electrical tape you can possibly find. Colorcode all your cables. Never have a cable that doesn’t have color codes on it. It’s very quick to identify your connections then. Keep one set of cables for what you use at church on stage, and another set of cables that she use for anywhere else. Yes Expensive but it’s worth the time savings they will come from it. So you always have the cables you use at church already set up and bundled together, and then it’s just a quick plug-in.

One tip that I see in your video, but usually doesn't get mentioned explicitly... put the audio interface on the floor. You can see this in the example pics in the video too. This gives you usually one (USB) cable to run from your laptop to the interface and thus one wire to tie to the stand. Then the other additional audio cables are more easily hidden on the floor or gaff taped down. Any volume adjustments should be done from your keyboard with a fader, so there shouldn't be any reason to touch your interface while you're playing once it's set up.

Nice ideas -for keyboard rigs - and that is not only a purpose for worship.

A lot of this applies for guitarists like me, too, esp. since I'm starting to integrate some synth hardware/software into my guitar rig. Fortunately for us, most of our cables are all down on the floor, and we just need to make sure things are long enough to reach back to an amp and/or a snake interface to avoid being a tripping hazard. :D I am going to need to put together a small stand for a keyboard, a laptop, and a small mixer, so this is giving me plenty of food for thought.

The great thing about the new Sunday Keys app is that the new iPad Air, and Pro have magnets in the back so they kind of stick to stuff like steel music stands.

I want to buy a rack case to store my kit in tidily, interface, cables etc. What’s a good thing to have it sitting on? Mini keyboard stand? I can see with your set up you just have your interface lying in the floor and taped up?

Hello, I would love to watch a review or demo of “SundayKeys Standard version” using mainstage 3.
