I'm pretty sure this is the longest anyone's talked about or even thought of Rilla Roo in the history of his existence.

My guess is that they needed a character to be like Dingodile so that Crash Bash can have an even amount of players. Like how Koala Kong is like a clone to Tiny.
2024 Edit: I'm aware that Kong did debut before Tiny, but Tiny has appeared in more games hence why I said that. In fact, Tiny was originally gonna appear in the first game alongside Kong. Anyways, Rilla Roo's creation was originally gonna be a female kangaroo named Kanga-Soo, but that idea was scrapped as the developers felt concerned about beating up a female character, which is ironic since Coco's a playable female character

You didn't go over it in the video, but the obvious reason he was created was so that Dingodile would have a clone, given all of the other characters have a counterpart of some sort.

My theory is that rilla roo was originally meant to be ripper roo, but due to ripper roo's odd character model and the fact you never see his arms move freely, it made his interaction with the environment awkward. So they changed him to rilla roo instead.
Very good video but here's the short version: "Eurocom needed an extra character and so they just Bullsh***ed Rilla Roo so they could have their own mascot in the game, and then nobody liked him at all so he was never seen again."

The thing is, a lot of world creation stories involve sibling deities but no parents. It is entirely possible they did not have "parents," but instead were originally one entity which was split into two halves, one good and one evil.
Pretty sure it's that "booga-booga!" fellow Aku Aku's always praising when you break one of the Aku Aku crates.
@@cheesewizard3965 I know this comment's old, but there's pre-release concept art of Aku Aku as an elderly person wearing the mask as a feature more than it being himself. The image is partially canon.

And of course, Uka Uka's real name has to have contained the surname "Aku", for obvious reasons. Uka was likely to be jealous of his brother when they were living humans, and gave himself Aku's full name turned backwards to state they were opposites, before fleeing and gathering a following of his own. A malevolent following, no less.
Just as an aside, it's probably worth mentioning that N. Brio was the original inventor of the Evolvo Ray, so there's no real reason for him to not simply build another instead of getting N. Gin's help.
They should have used Komodo Joe in the villain side. Since he has long tail like Dingodile.

Actually since rilla roo is half kangaroo, I think the most fitting role for dingodiles counterpart would be ripper roo, I mean they seem to have formed a bond in crash twinsanity (although it may not be canon)

Here's what I've personally gathered he was created by Brio possibly with the help of Dingodile. Dingodile worked with Brio after CTR to make more animal mixes. Rillaroo is technically Dingodile's brother. He was made by Brio and his machine and he's a combo between a kangaroo and gorilla.
I don't really get the hate for Rillaroo. He really fits with the animal experimentation theme in Crash life. His existence makes sense and his design isn't bad.

I think it was definitely Brio who created Rilla Roo.
As mentioned, he tried to thwart crash's attempts at collecting crystals, via mutant cyborg animals and robots throughout the levels, and maybe even some of the bosses.
Those poor turtles...Got spikes growing out of their sides or buzzsaws slicing away inside their shells..
And some of them I think were just wild animals, like those frightened rats in the ruins levels. Poor little fellas, stuck atop pillars.

I'm sorry, but there is one big problem to your theory. N. Brio wasn't "absent," and the end of Crash 1 (the good ending I believe) that states that N. Brio returned to his former hobby/passion (whatever you want to call it) "tending bar." However, that doesn't mean N. Brio couldn't have gone off to make his own mutants, especially considering that he IS the creator of the evolvo ray.
I never thought about it, but on fact Rilla Roo was never in a Crash game again.

I have spent 17 years thinking that his name was Red’n’Rome. Childhood ruined.
I always thought Brio simply stayed in the ruined cortex castle whilst cortex himself fled and started using the space station with N Gin.
Brio is defeated and left inside the castle too so maybe he put out the fires and saved the evolvoray and the remaining animals. They felt thankful and would help him gain revenge on cortex.
The reason being is the secret warp room is the top of cortex's castle. all portals are locations for gems which Brio would have installed as he wants crash to find gems and not crystals. This is also the same location he installs his laser to tear down the space station.
If I started going around every single Yakiniku shop in Hollywood to look for an owner, or waiter that resembles an ape, they’d probably question me and the cops might be after me for questioning, or edging down Hollywood to come and look for an ape-like Yakiniku shop owner.

Why is Brio on the evil team? Would it make sense if he was on Good and instead of Rilla, have N. Gin there? I think N. Gin might of previously been a playable

I think this video was really good dude. Not being rude, but your a small channel and need more subs. I am promoting this video because it interested me and the character of Rilla Roo always seemed very bland to me. I did not even see him in bash because i choose Koala Kong who was matched with Coco, Tiny, and Dingodile.
As a video recommendation could you look into the character of ripper roo. If you can't no biggie, just thought you could do with some recommendations. =]

The part where you theorize that N Brio went to Kangerilla during the 1 year betweeen crash 1+2 confuses me because it was clearly stated in Crash Bandicoot 1's credits that he went off to become a bartender but oh well. This is honestly still a better theory than most I've ever heard in gaming.

dude, brio was mentioned in crash 2... it's said in crash 2 that he and cortex had fell out, getting pissed at each other. in fact, collect all the gems in crash 2 and brio is the one that blows up the cortex vortex, which is canon cause that's how crash warped had started (with a piece of the vortex crashing to earth and freeing uka uka).
now, the gap from warped to crash bash is where we have no clue about brio, but apparently brio and cortex had made up and started working together again by the start of crash bash

Actually I remember that in the manual (Almost, in the italian version) was written that Rilla Roo was created by Nitrus. So he can't be created by DingoDile

Thank you for that link! I feel it's just the way they interpreted the line "like how Rilla Roo was born from the genes of Ripper Roo" when translating. It could mean both things, to be fair. Brio could have indeed created him, or he just simply had knowledge of how it was done but not necessarily him being the creator. I guess it depends on how different people think about it!

What was Dingodiles and Rilla Roos strength ? because they seem to suck at every mini game.
According to the Crash Bash manual, their "tail whip attack is killer", as well as having some advantage in the tank minigames. To be honest, I was never keen on playing as either of those characters!
They had greater strength than Crash and Coco while also having a better kick/tail ability then Kong and Tiny.
Their Polar and Tank minigames were also kinda average.
I tihnk they were just more well rounded characters.
Miguel Angel Medina Rise rilla is the fastest pogo jumper in the game.
Rilla is much faster then any other character in the game in Pogo mini games
They're the worst characters. Their main "advantage" is they can fire two projectiles in tanks, but the individual shots are super weak. This wouldn't be too bad, but you get over a second of mercy invincibility after being shot that means the second shot is useless. They pick up and throw crates the slowest and least far. They're terrible.
Am I the only one who wondered why Cortex looked different in the two different times he showed CTR within the first two minutes?
I wonder if he will ever Return in a new Crash Game and we get the answers?

Since Rilla Roo has circus attire and a clownish personality, my theory is that Rilla Roo was actually a baby gorilla that was one of the animals living in the circus Dr. Cortex spent his childhood in. He escaped before the incident that destroyed the circus occurred and reunited with the doctor years later. Neo then decided to mutate Rilla Roo with his Evolvo-ray so he can help him with his plots.

Well it's presumed by some including me that Dingodile may be the creator of Rilla Roo, after supposedly opening up a hybrid pet-shop at the end of Crash Team Racing.
Other than that it is presumed that whoever created him was a doctor. It is believed by some that he was created by any one of the doctor characters - Doctor Neo Cortex, Doctor N. Gin, or Doctor Nitrus Brio. Tellingly, I don't recall hearing about anyone that's believed that Doctor Nefarious Tropy may have created him.
It is even presumed that Nitros Oxide may have created him, though this is unlikely considering that Rilla Roo fought for the side of evil, on the same side as Uka Uka, and therefore it is unlikely that he was ever allied with Oxide, despite Oxide having Uka Uka as his invincibility mask in Crash Team Racing.
It was heavily implied that tiny tiger , komode joe , komdodoe moe , where created during crash bandicoot was , in the lost crash bandicoot intro they where shown so there is a small chance that brio made them after crash bandicoot 1...

Rilla Roo was meant to be dingodile's "equivalent" like all the others paired with someone (like clone fighters). Seing as Dingodile had a tail move instead of his weapon they probably just rushed a new character that could have that same move without much touch, since no previous character had Dingo's tail and build.

Why is no one talking about how Rilla Roo and Ripper Roo are technically related?
Does crash even have a cannon after ctr. Different devs kept making games and more characters and new back stories. So when the new ps4 crash games comes out (I think the n sane trilogy will sell well and revive the franchise) who and what will be cannon. Is crunch gonna be there or nina? Hopefully they soft re oot the franchise

N.gin ,ripper roo, komodo bros, papu papu, oxide, (probably penta the penguin) and others are just random characters in their invidual stages. Buy I didnt see pinstripe p... whather-roo but he has no unique ability and there is nobody to balance his gun like how koala balances tiny tiger

I feel like if they needed another strong character to add to keep the lineup even, they could've added Koala Kong or Papu Papu. My theory is that Eurocom maybe expected to pick up the franchise and this was an attempt to establish their own original villan for the future
We can't really use the Japanese Crash Bash story ending as evidence because the Japanese versions of the Crash series are heavily altered and changed. For example, Crash Warped's Story in Japan is Crash and his friends travel around the world, while the real story is about the Time Twister Machine and Time Traveling.
Crash bash was the first crash bandicoot game I've owned. Rilla roo was the most funniest character at the time. But man crash bash was a mixed experience.
The announcers voice was strange. I thought he called Kong, Carl. And coco as CooKoo.

In the 100% ending of crash 1 ,it's stated that after cortex was defeated brio became a bar tender.So I feel like that's what happened to him in between the 1st and 2nd games.
I totally missed out on that detail, but hey, he could've been scientist by day and bartender by night... or the other way around, haha.
i'm 90% sure rilla roo was added because they already had a Dingodile model made and needed a to make a clone who had the same body type
There's no real explanation for where N. Gin comes from, either. He replaces N. Brio as Cortex's sidekick/ right hand man after the events of the first game, but no real explanation of how he got involved with Cortex is ever given. Considering how much Cortex trusts him, he and Cortex must go way back, right? Maybe N. Gin designed the Cortex Vortex, given his background in rocket science!
Goldberg1337 in Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled, there is a photo of a child version of N. Gin, N. Brio, and Cortex, along with Madame Amberly and the Evil Twins. Maybe Cortex knew N. Gin from his school.

If it were up to me, I'd guess that it was Dingodile that created Rilla Roo. Even though the translation could have been off, Brio said that Rilla was created from the genes of Ripper Roo, not that he created Rilla using Ripper Roo's DNA. Besides, just because he knows how Rilla Roo was created, doesn't mean that he did it. But, the ending story of Rilla Roo seems a bit... odd, if you consider that Rilla wasn't created by Dingodile.
So, as it's established, he's going to have to be created after Crash Team Racing, but before the start of Crash Bash. After this time, apparently Dingodile opened his lab, and Brio was still MIA. This means that Rilla Roo would not have worked under Cortex during this period, which was the first place I would imagine he would have met Dingodile. Which also doesn't work, because Dingodile was also not working with Cortex post-CTR. The only real way I could think he would have met Dingodile in this scenario is by random chance. I mean, even during Crash Bash, I don't think they could have had any real connection - they were on separate teams.
But that's just me and my logic.

Naughty Dog had nothing to do with the creation of Rilla Roo; that was all Eurocom.
There is one character who instantly comes to mind who is 100% absent from crash bash who would have made a better addition. N.Tropy, I don't see why they didn't include him.
