I think you might be onto something, just checked and the later ones have casting number 71-2805, not that clear on the video but it does look like it has that number on it!
I thought for sure you were going to button it all up without the back plate on. I can imagine myself getting the primary back together then spotting that cover sitting on my bench. When I replaced the stator on my 64 TR6 I had to cut off the bullet terminals and some of the sleeving to get the wire through the hole. I put some wire sleeve on from the opposite side once it was through. There's always a few parts of any job that should be the easy part (slide new wires through hole) that end up adding an hour to the process.
I did a complete engine rebuild (videos in the Bantam playlist) so it's hard to pinpoint as the noise has now gone but I think it was most likely a worn/slack primary chain, so that's probably the best place to start.
looking good Ian onwards and upwards, Adrian.
Seems to be a steep hill!
@@InTheShedUK well Ian it is a triumph
Crankshaft sprocket may be to suit a 1970 on bikes which do not require a seal.

Yes that was a close call with the back plate!
Great work on resurfacing the seal surface Ian.
Lathe saved the day yet again!
@@InTheShedUK you can't get by without one.
Hi, did you find out what was making the strange noises from your Bantam about a year ago? Mine makes the same horrible sound!
I did a complete engine rebuild (videos in the Bantam playlist) so it's hard to pinpoint as the noise has now gone but I think it was most likely a worn/slack primary chain, so that's probably the best place to start.
Thanks, I will replace the chain and clutch bushing. I have seen chain tensioners but they cost more than a new chain!
