@@DaDizzyDino I do think they take the look to the next level for sure. They aren't hard to do but take a ton of time. I will try to get that video done in the next couple of weeks!
It’s totally doable on a teacher salary if you want it bad enough. Mine is outdoors and I am in 2k for a bushnell, 400 for a monster mat, $700 for a cage , $250 for a TV. And 550 for a gaming laptop. So 4k or so all in. Granted I didn’t do a screen and projector so I saved some there. It can be done even cheaper than that with a rapsodo, cheaper mat or strip, and a cheaper net system.
Awesome simulator and garage build-out. Impressive! I would love to see the vinyl/foam pads. I just started framing my simulator this weekend. You have me reevaluating! 😄

Great info, so happy I found this! Just starting my sim build and you've given me a ton of great ideas. I think you've sold me on the Mevo+ over an overhead launch monitor, can't justify the cost right now. I really like the info on the flooring/turf.
Awesome. I'd definitely need the wall panels. Everywhere! As a matter of fact I'd be scared to have that TV there when my friends would come over lol. You probably understand what I'm saying by now, we suck at golf
Love this!! I'm also in West Michigan and have a golf cage but looking at building something around it so I can enjoy it during the winter time! Hmm so many ideas now!!
Thank you! My wife was astounded at what some people thought the space costed haha, can do it at a reasonable price if you're willing to put the work in!
When I was a teacher I made $21k for each of 3 years. I don't think I could afford a golf sim. I had to quit teaching to be able to afford golf. 🤣🤣. Great stuff, keep swinging
@@GolfBusters Very cool. We'll never see those rates again!!! I'm building a golf area/simulator in my barn which I'm finishing out as a mancave and building a 165 yard par 3 hole on our acreage currently. I dig the look of your's
@golfapocalypse9404 crazy. I made the exact same $21k when I taught for 3 years in Iowa. I had to leave too. Glad I did as I feel much more successful now. But Iowa pays very well now. Also, strange, but I actually have a golf channel called “Golf Apocalypse”. I’m making a par 3 hole on my acreage as well as a simulator in my HQ Barn. So I dig your name. I too subscribed. From both of my accounts.
😅 that’s if you build a whole garage, if you got the space the $6700 is totally doable! I was able to afford it with a cash out refinance. Basically our house went up in value it’s the crazy housing market and we took that cash out and refinanced our interest rate to below 3%. When I look back all the stars kind of aligned with the housing market and interest rates.
I did a video on my sim build in my garage and got many many comments for using "cheap" on the thumbnail but I did the whole thing for just under $7000 CND. When I saw this, I thought "oh many he's going to get a lot of comments about cost lol". Beautiful space but ya, the cost is much much higher than advertised.
Awesome stuff! What I am curious about now is, how well does the vinyl wall panel absorb impact from high-speed ball? Does it bounce back? Would be nice to see a video demonstration of the ball hitting one of those panels.
I made a video showing how I made the wall panels and on there you can see the bounceback! I would recommend panels to direct balls into the screen, I have some directly in front of me and I would avoid that if possible. Still works great just not ideal.
@@GolfBusters how did you mount the panels to the walls? All your panels look they are butt right to each other. Any overlapping going on to hide screws to the walls?
Hey bro love the video, watched it a total of 3 times now lol I'm starting to begin the process of getting my garage built. How tall are your walls, and did it cost extra to order vaulted ceiling trusses?
The ceilings are 10 foot on the sides and 13 foot in the middle. I’m not sure how much extra the vaulted truss cost but the cost of them is in the document in our description!
I appreciate you answering my questions so quickly and I have hopefully just one more for you. I’m leaning towards the Mevo+ but want your opinion. Idk how far your screen is from where you hit but mine would have to be around 16ft bc I have a steel beam at the 10-12 ft mark making that location impossible. I still have the recommended 8 ft behind me. You think that’s alright? I know I’ll hit the ceiling with the high lofted clubs but that’s alright, it’ll be padded. Thanks in advance.
So that would actually read really well because the more ball flight you have the better the MEVO+ will read. I would think you would get the most accurate readings possible from that distance.
Can you Share the Google Sheets doc you created? I'm looking to do this entire project. (Edited, I found the link!) Thank you! your video rocks! keep up the work.
By far the biggest cost of this is the garage/shed itself. Thata awaome you had the space. Having that big of a space with the height you need is tough! I've thought about buying a 15x30 shed for this but that alone is over 20k
Love the setup. I have very tall ceiling as well with a big space. Will have a 8.5ft by 15.5 screen.. how high up and far back from the screen is your projector mounted.. I’ll be hitting at about 10 feet and would love to find the best projector to be about 12 feet from screen.. my ceilings are 14 feet..
Great video. Trying to get my ducks in a row for my setup. May I ask how you have everything wired from the projector, to the computer, to the TV and I'm assuming external speakers? We're finishing the addition on our house and the walls are exposed so I'd like to plan for the wiring while everything is open before drywall is installed. It's tough because I'm not sure where exactly the projector needs to be and how to run all the wires. We'd like to have it set up like you guys do for golf and also hook up the Chromecast for movies and TV. So I would like to plan for adequate sound.
So I ran the cords through the ceiling and drywall before it was put up and ran it to my computer. Look at projectorcentral.com to find a projector that will work
You gotta drape a solid sheet or drop cloth behind the screen. Is will make the picture a lot better. I have a premium screen. 3 layer just like yours. And it made a huge difference. If you can see the picture from being, your losing all that light. Try a black sheet or dark drop cloth. I use a premium moving blanket. It’s black. Increased the brightness and sharpness of the picture by at least 500 lumens.
@@GolfBusters not sure. I have 2 layers behind mine. Been that way 1 year. I always flip my screen every 2 months or so. I see zero signs of that being true. A dark light sheet I’m 100% sure will have zero impact on its longevity. I think they say that because some people put heavy abrasive type stuff behind their screen. But like the other guy said, a black photography screen should not hurt it. But I definitely would wash it first. The die from a new sheet of fabric can rub off. So put in in the washer. I’m sure your wife will now how to wash the die out.
Looking back at the video, the screen looks way more washed out than it does in person. You're right that the cloth will help but the washed-outness is more my camera capturing me at proper exposure and the screen is brighter than me so it appears washed out.
They told me there sold out for a while when I last contacted them. There is a website I found that I’ve linked in these comments that seems to do good ones really cheap but I haven’t ordered from them so I can’t say for sure or not how legit the company is. I know another commenter ordered and he’s gonna let me know how it goes.
This is great and I'm getting closer to getting my wife to let me build something like this! 😂 One question for you... what are the dimensions of the space?
This video helped convince the wife. She loves the way it looks. So did you just build the extra space off your existing garage structure? Any hangups you had that you wish you knew before? Also what was the total size of the structure you built? Here from r/golf
Just trying to do the lords work here for you brother. We had a super small like 50 year old garage so we tore it down and built a new structure. The structure is 38 long by 25 wide. The Sim area is 25x25 on the outside 24x24 on the inside. I would say the biggest hangup on the actual simulator build was how long it took to build those wall panels by hand. They take FOREVER, but well worth it. The other thing is they are great for double bounces but not necessarily straight on bounces. For example, skying a driver is fine because it hits the ceiling and then it either goes into the impact screen or goes into the panels above the screen. Double hits slow it down enough to where no one would be worried about a ricochete. But a straight on hit would come back to fast, that's why we had to put the extra blue bumper on the bottom (pretty much just doubled up the wall panel) to keep the ball from coming back to fast. Also, the panels directly above the screen look great but there is one person I've had over who will hit that with his 60, which again won't really come back fast enough to hurt anyone but it is a little scary, but again he's the only one. So my changes for the next one: I would maybe remove the bottom border all together so you don't worry about thinned bounce backs, or maybe cut it down to 6 inches instead of a foot. I do really like the look of the bottom border though so they way we have it now really isn't bad at all as long as you double up that bumper like we did with the blue fabric. A change I would make for sure though would be to raise the top of the screen to 10 foot instead of 9 foot to get rid of those guys who hit their 60s really high. But to keep the 16 by 9 aspect ratio you would also need to increase the width a little bit.
@@elli0tttttttt 10.5-11 feet to the screen. I would've liked to do more but then if I moved farther back almost everyone's 60 would've hit above the screen.
@@GolfBusters thanks. I have a very similar shed that I'm trying to plan a build in but am trying to achieve 14ft ball flight for better tracking. But like you say, this would mean lots of shots hitting above the screen. Can you do a video on how you mounted your screen and all of the wall panelling? Thanks again
Love the setup! Is this American Dollars? Also how do you find having a soft-strip specifically for hitting? If you hit behind the ball will it depress the carpet and raise the ball off the ground, completely removing the risk of hitting a bad shot? I only say this because of some recent videos i've seen analysing a spongey ground.
Hey Great Sim,how do you heat and or cool this extra 1000 sq ft...did you hvac it to current home heating and cooling? or does it have just space heaters and window unit a/c?? Living in michigan i assume you get all 4 seasons being in the midwest...im here in KC Misourri and looking for something very similar to what you got here! Awesome job and great stuff!!
Thanks! We ran a gas line to the garage and have a heater hooked up in the corner and then the place is insulated enough in the summer that we don’t need AC!
Awesome setup. Wish I had a garage with all that space that wasn’t being used for car and other projects. Question: how accurate is the mevo? I’ve seen other vids showing it not being accurate compared to some expensive golf sims.
I would say when I first got it everything was a 7/10, after using it for a year and finding a consistent set up. I would rate chipping and irons a 10/10 and driver a 9/10 which I believe will come a 10/10 once they add on the RCT update for gspro. I would be confident enough to run a simulator business with the Mevo+
I haven’t used the Bushnell launch pro yet! I think the Mevo+ is extremely accurate and I don’t have to worry about moving it as a lefty so that’s nice
Starting our building this summer. Do you have capability of heating or cooling your simulator room? if so what do you use? Also, do you have a bathroom in there somewhere? Love the setup, looking to do something very similar but room will be about 19'6" x 23'
@@GolfBusters any regrets on not having a bathroom? just debating on whether to go to the expense or not. Would be nice during the winter, but not sure it is worth it

For sure! I’m not sure when that video will be but I will try to get that done as soon as possible!
Great video. Seeing it for the second time 🙂 What would be the length of the room from screen to the back wall/garage door?
That’s 24 feet!
Thank you for the amazing videos! I may have overlooked this, but do you have a build sheet on all the dimensions for the setup somewhere?
I do not! The room is 24 feet by 24 feet. walls 10 feet tall center 13 feet tall!
Super badass Job, this is awesome... Does it stay warm in the winter?
Yea we insulated really well and heated it!
Beautiful
Love the setup!
Is this American Dollars?
Also how do you find having a soft-strip specifically for hitting?
If you hit behind the ball will it depress the carpet and raise the ball off the ground, completely removing the risk of hitting a bad shot? I only say this because of some recent videos i've seen analysing a spongey ground.
Yes American! And we actually ended up changing the hitting strip. You can see it in one of our latest videos!
I would appreciate advice on most economical way to get the vinyl wall panels?
Hey Great Sim,how do you heat and or cool this extra 1000 sq ft...did you hvac it to current home heating and cooling? or does it have just space heaters and window unit a/c?? Living in michigan i assume you get all 4 seasons being in the midwest...im here in KC Misourri and looking for something very similar to what you got here! Awesome job and great stuff!!
Thanks! We ran a gas line to the garage and have a heater hooked up in the corner and then the place is insulated enough in the summer that we don’t need AC!
Boom baby!
I shat myself when you turned around and your wife was there, great jumpscare
Awesome setup. Wish I had a garage with all that space that wasn’t being used for car and other projects.
Question: how accurate is the mevo? I’ve seen other vids showing it not being accurate compared to some expensive golf sims.
I would say when I first got it everything was a 7/10, after using it for a year and finding a consistent set up. I would rate chipping and irons a 10/10 and driver a 9/10 which I believe will come a 10/10 once they add on the RCT update for gspro. I would be confident enough to run a simulator business with the Mevo+
@@GolfBusters dude. I thought I was nuts for a 3am comment. Your even crazier for replying. Haha. Thank you for the quick reply. 😉
Late night snack, don’t worry falling back asleep rn
Very nice content!! Could this software be set up for commercial space? Iike golf simulation rental spaces?
I believe it could!
I like the build but I think it's worth the extra $1k for the bushnell launch pro. It's going to be more accurate indoors than the radar.
I haven’t used the Bushnell launch pro yet! I think the Mevo+ is extremely accurate and I don’t have to worry about moving it as a lefty so that’s nice
I’m not sure if I missed it but do you know the approximate dimensions of your simulator room from screen to back? Very nice setup all around!
The room is 24 feet by 24 feet!
Damn nice sim golf setup man. Envy you. Mine looks so shit compare to yours lol.
How did you build the cushions on the wall? Is there a video on that or do you have links to the supplies for it?
Yes! One on our channel!
Starting our building this summer. Do you have capability of heating or cooling your simulator room? if so what do you use? Also, do you have a bathroom in there somewhere? Love the setup, looking to do something very similar but room will be about 19'6" x 23'
That size should still work fine! No bathroom, and we have a gas heater that hangs in the corner of the room!
@@GolfBusters any regrets on not having a bathroom? just debating on whether to go to the expense or not. Would be nice during the winter, but not sure it is worth it
We have on in our house which takes 15 seconds to get to so no regrets. In the future would probably want the bathroom if we had more money to spend
