i know a lot of people think it - but loona are not disbanded! what happened was they left their awful company ‘blockberry creative’, and the girls are now spread out under 4 different companies. they constantly remind us that they are still together and have plans for ot12 activities in the future, but for now they are all pursuing their own goals (as soloists or under sub-units) 💗
"Butterfly" and "PTT" capture the loona experience. 'Butterfly' was kinda the critically acclaimed/fan favorite song, while 'PTT (paint the town)' was arguably their peak before all the mess came to the surface. For sub units, ODD EYE CIRCLE is a good place to start, since they had a comeback under their new company as well. - Girl Front (2017) - Sweet Crazy Love (2017) - Air Force One (2023) To add on to the context of the fallout with the company, it wasn't just that they weren't getting paid (groups often have to use the profits to pay trainee debt, which can take years for smaller groups), however loona's contracts were set up in a way where they got more debt the more they promoted. They were responsable for 50% of the costs, while only recieving 30% of the profits. So no matter how popular they got, they would never break even.
wooooo lovee seeing a loona reaction in 2024! 🥳🥳 i would definitely recommend checking out some of loona's other songs, because they were actually pretty well-known for doing diverse concepts, it just so happens that their first and last releases were pretty similar sound-wise. since you've already checked out Loossemble and Yves, I would also recommend checking out ARTMS and Chuu! ARTMS is the other post-LOONA group and also has 5 members, while Chuu is the member that did the insane high note in Hi High! Loona was also known for their group choreography, so if you specifically check out Butterfly and Paint the Town, I would definitely recommend checking out their dance practices/ live performances as well. going to provide an info-dump because the opportunity feels rare these days. it might seem insanely complicated at first glance, but I promise once you get into it everything makes (more) sense. Loona has three pre-debut subunits and 2 post-LOONA subunits/groups. The predebut subunits are LOONA 1/3, Odd Eye Circle, and yyxy (pronounced y y by y). The post-LOONA groups are ARTMS (pronounced like the Greek goddess Artemis) and Loossemble The sheer amount of LOONA sub-units can be intimidating, but the gist of it is that each LOONA member first debuted with a solo, and then each sub-unit debuted before the full group (there are a few exceptions to this rule though). After leaving BBC (their former company), they then either went solo (Chuu and Yves), or into ARTMS/Loossemble. The post-LOONA groups don’t completely match up with the pre-debut sub-units, but if it helps, half of LOONA 1/3 went to ARTMS, and half went to Loossemble. Yeojin (who is unfortunately subunit-less in practice) also went to Loossemble. All of Odd Eye Circle went to ARTMS, while half of yyxy went solo and the other half went to Loossemble. Lots of people react to everything in debut order if they are doing a full marathon, since it helps to learn the members by the time you get to the full group. It also helps since some members cameo or feature in later (or sometimes earlier) solos. Obviously that’s a lot of reactions, so I understand if you guys don't want to, but it’s a pretty fun journey. Usually even if a song isn’t to one’s taste (which obviously not every song will be, just by sheer probability since they have sooo many), there’s something fun about it (vocals, choreo, lore relevance, meaning). TL/DR: This is a lot of information but if you guys want (and think you are gonna react more to LOONA) I can make a doc with all the info and boycott-friendly links to everything. Flip That is more like an outlier in their discography. That is probably the only girly pop song from LOONA. The rest of the discography is so diverse you can't categorize them into a genre or concept.
