Cheap vs Expensive: Digitech Hardwired Valve Distortion vs B.K. Tube Driver
Вставка

- The B.K. Butler Tube driver is one of the most revered drive pedals from the 70s. It has been used by Dave Gilmore, Eric Johnson, Billy Gibbons and Joe Satriani. However, even the current units are very expensive. There are some clones and inspired by pedals out there, the most impressive in the affordable range would have to be the Digitech Hardwired Valve Distortion. But how does it compare?

Love the old Digitech pedals... Wish they remade them in a more modern package
I've got an original BK Butler 3 knobs. And bought the 2nd version 4 knobs. They both kick ass. Still work. Highly recommended.
Always love the videos 👍
Have a nice Easter Jason. Thanks for the video.
Enjoying from Southwest Florida, we appreciate you brother
Thank you sir
Very nice comparison. Both with their own strenghts. And some real nice chops to demonstrate it.
The greats who used this pedal, they had the pedals moded, they added a bias pot to control the tube better with different tubes and ranges for sound. Also there should be eq mod.
Possibly it's also idea to remove the transformer out and use an old portable computer power transformer source. Internal transformer maybe has pronounced hum. Remove it and or add more grounded points with a new neutral wire.
Boss Blues Driver deserves a head to head with these
That's an idea🤔
My favourite youtube guitar channel.
Kinda odd when the Digitech is the "cheaper" alternative.
Thanks Joe
Hello, I do know that it's a trend, but I don't think those were made to go into an amp effects loop...Try with a clean amp and crank them up!
I agree, but you are likely mistaken, as he mentioned changing the channels on the DSL in the beginning of the video, which indicates he did use the guitar input and not the effect loop
(possibly you were misled by the little black box with the 2 loops, it is just used to switch between the two effects. The output goes into the guitar input of the amp )
the hardwire is totally solid state, however i think it sounds not bettere but for sure tighter.
Thank you. I suspected that because there would have been more information online if it had a tube inside.
I've noticed the Digitech pedals have dropped in price generally here in oz.....or is it just me?
They're not cool anymore. Everyone wants something that something that was hand made by an enthusiast.
Where’s Cliffs of Dover?
Yes, I should have learnt something by EJ
There’s definitely no tube in the Digitech, my guy!
Thanks for the info!
I had a B.K. Tube driver in the past, but I sold it. I didn't like the sound at all. Too fuzzy, too muddy. I've now a Behringer Tube Monster. What should I say ? It's ten timmes better than the B.K. Butler.
🤣🤣🤣
