    The brother in law is sketchy. He wants 6 figure salaries and isn't prepared to do any work for it. I'd get rid of him immediately.

    The best line in this episode was when he told him "I could get Schuler to do Facebook."

    I loved their relative: Marcus, I'm just the marketing expert, so you'all work the line, I'm back here on the internet. Marcus told him exactly where he could get off and put him in his place. He later seemed to disappear when most needed; some relative; some employee?

    Shulers in Latta is a great place to eat. The BBQ is wonderful.

    With Inflation, and what Marcus usually does to the prices, I bet lunch is $14.95, and dinner is $22.95 now. Let me go check. Edit: Not bad, $9.95 lunch and $14.45 dinner. Marcus knows his customers.

    As someone who has owned a chinese buffet, 42% food cost at those prices is insane. They shouldn't include drinks in that price. Also, they're obviously offering waaaaay too many dishes/desserts. I was making more profit than they were and my sales were half what they're doing...

    Marcus: As a blue ribbon award winner I will tell you only the truth. Don't go below 50% butter on those biscuits or you won't see the sales you were hoping for. Don't change her recipe too much as no one really likes the taste of those commercial leaveners either. And yes, my specialty is baked goods. I know what wins blue ribbons.

    Their PR guy was just riding the owners' coattails without doing much of anything. I also feel like Marcus is sacrificing the quality of the BBQ in return for better profit for the business. That's got to be so disappointing for the customer.

    Ewell (brother-in-law) is shady as well. This fool tried to negotiate a $200,000 salary for him and his wife for Facebook posts(...PR work) This dude was trying to take advantage of his in-laws. I'm glad this snake in the grass scammer was stopped in his tracks.

    40% .... Rights to the biscuits..... Da f#!k outta here baaaad deal . all they have to do is raise the price $1 take a pay cut for a while get a bank loan reinvest and expand 100% ownership

    • @rogersmith7808
      @rogersmith7808 3 роки тому +2

      They could do that but then they wouldn't have gotten rid of that leech of a brother-in-law and he would be bleeding them dry. Also, they would still be getting ripped off on their food costs and her biscuits would never have made it into production and that's where the big money is going to be if it's successful.

    Ewell had some videos on You tube when he did marketing for the state of Louisiana. So he's good at that kind of work just not a for profit business and not as a GM.

      The profit margin was terrible [on the lunch alone it was twice as expensive as the thought].
      Unsustainable food cost & no space to grow the business [for the couple & their son].
      They're happy w/the expansion; why would you deny them that?

  • @aznnp77
    @aznnp77 7 місяців тому

    I know the margins weren't great, but 500K for for 40% a business that does over a million in sales and is explosively growing seemed like too much. Marcus took advantage of that nice family. It's probably been about 10 years, and if they were profit sharing, Marcus would have made back his investment by now, and still owned 40% of the business.

      There is a difference between revenue and profit. I invested in alot of companies. One thing that gets companies is they make decent to good revenue but cogs etc eats them up. Why if people listened to the negotiations some if these companies have they have good revenue yet still losing money or making very little.
