Just experienced a photoshoot with a three year old. Like trying to dye the whiskers of a kitten while driving a car on a highway. Impossible.
Louis was perfectly four. I love that they didn’t try to overly control him and that he even was okay with acting his age.
😂👏🏼
@The mysterious Miss X good for you! Give yourself a whole pack of cookies for being so good. And a couple of pats on the back to make yourself feel better.
@The mysterious Miss X kids of to day are different from our times growing up . Let P Louis be himself .like all 4 year olds he's doing his own things . Remember these celebrations were once in a lifetime for us and the little one .he was excited and wanted to cheer and have fun . He saluted the guards which was sweet of him and those gestures he was throwing with his hands we laughed so much . Let him be .......
@The mysterious Miss X I agree. It’s not normal behavior in my opinion.
@The mysterious Miss X kids of this age you would 1 need to smack them.2 shout and give them the evil eye either way is not good you end up with scared children.
That child behaving like a child made me so happy.
@The mysterious Miss X WTF do you mean by "you people"? Do you mean the people who are happy? People who disagree with you? I don't care how many fathers you know, or what you think is proper for a four year old child. You sound a bit too unhinged by a four year old touching his mother.. maybe the "mysterious" about you is that your a judgemental biotch?
@The mysterious Miss X Do you have any children?
He likes her as much as I do 😂 She just has creepy Gwyneth Paltrow vibes and IS NOT personable. Diana would, like, shake her
@The mysterious Miss X honestly my child did it all the time , it’s a stage all kids go through . Let him be child , go get a life or a hobby thank you.

There is a story about the Queen many years ago going for a walk near her Scottish Palace at Balmoral (she has several, it's a queen thing) and meeting some other walkers coming the opposite way. Not realising who they were talking to these people got chatting with her and said "we heard that the Queen has a home nearby, have you ever met her". Apparently the Queen said no then pointed to her security guard and said "but he has".
Search it on UA-cam - the security guy himself tells the story!

@@user-yz4rw7mb6s I was going to say there was no way any British won't recognize their Queen. Now it makes sense. They were tourists.
I remember one time when she visited President Reagan at the White House and was reduced to being a talking hat on camera, which she joked about.
The Paddington bear scene was very cute and the holograms of The Queen when she was younger was really special.
Weak sauce.
The hologram was of the queen as she rode to the cathedral in that same gold coach on her coronation day 70 years ago. It meant something to the Brits for sure!
Absolutely spot on.

The marmalade joke was genuinely funny. Which can't be said for any of Colbert's jokes in this video.
As a teacher of 25 three and four year olds I can confirm that Louis is just living his best life 😂 the hand over the mouth got me 😂
Some years ago i took my four year old son and my eight year old daughter to see the secret garden film at the cinema .As a mother i thought that they would love to sit at the back of the cinema in the highest seats which they did .Yet half way through tje film my four year old son got totally bored ...my daughter was enjoying the film so much that she kicked her shoes off to relax on seeing this he decided to pick her shoes up and frizbee them to the front of the cinema skimming peoples skulls along the way.Needless to say i was so livid i dare not leave until everyone else had gone.He is now 33years old so YES he is still living.KIDS are marvellous .

I am not a royalist but I do think the Brits do it well when they celebrate their history such as the Monarchy is; it is their history and the Queen as the 'figure-head' is part of that history. I have enormous respect for the Queen; not many people could fulfill her role such as she has. Her life was given up at the time she ascended the throne.
Very well said Lilly. Thank you from a Brit.
Again…well said. Give credit where credit is due. The Queen had the role thrust upon her unexpectedly and after 70 years is still doing the job. Some respect please. 🇨🇦

I took my 4yr to a Disney movie, thinking old enough to sit watch .

Louis did amazing to behave four days straight in such a setting.
Yep better than 10 yr old Baron at inauguration hitting at his mom. His eye roll was classic though.
I thought what I liked was the way Kate and will and even their friend Mike handled him. They didn't just call for a nanny. He seemed like a regular 4 year old hassling his mum.
How do you not know your own child? Have you never spent time with them? Children are extremely different when it comes to attention spans and ability to sit reasonably still. Some kids aren’t ready yet to sit still and/or pay attention for a longer period at age 6, some can do it at a very young age.
My eldest I took to see Frozen when she was 4, because I knew she could definitely pay attention from start to finish and stay in her chair. We probably could have done it earlier, too. My 2nd one, I knew he wouldn’t stay in his chair or pay attention that long at that age. He was 5 the first time we took him. The first time we took our youngest, she was only 1,5 years old. She had a remarkable attention span at a very young age. She sat on my lap and nursed a couple of times during the movie. Apart from that, she was riveted to the screen.
Kate handled the healthy 4 year old brilliantly.

That kid was hilarious- but he's four and probably was at all these long events during that whole weekend and tired of them, plus, 4yr. olds still have to take their naps. My nephew when he was that age didn't like to sit still. One day after visiting his grandpa in the nursing home, it was a very hot day too & he missed his nap he was in a bad mood and acted up. Except he yelled and at one point in the restaurant pulled my sister's (his Mom) hair. She took him to the bathroom and had a talk with him (no, don't spank, he was exhausted and was 3 1/2. Just needed a time out). When they came out, he was quieter, played with his crayons at the table, and ate his chicken fingers. Later he was excited to see a fire truck (he was into fire trucks & school buses back then). So children of that age get tired and misbehave, esp. if, at something long where they are expected to sit still, the other two older children (and George used to act up when he was younger) were well behaved, Charlotte so lady like and sweet. Just gently correct the child and don't make a big deal over it. "Royal" children are still human beings (just have more privilege & money) and act just like other children and get tired, upset, bored etc.
That’s so funny. I’m remembering my 4 year old. We were at nice restaurant. He was tired, hungry, and acting out. I lifted him and carried him away to have a bathroom talk. As we were going, he cried out, “Not the bathroom, Mama! PLEEEEASE!! Not the bathroom!” He didn’t like my lectures and I can only imagine what the other diners were thinking. He came back to table as meal was being served and was a good little guy the rest of the night.

@wendyReis @CathyB @SamCroft Queen Elizabeth II became Queen the moment her father died on February 6 1952. Her coronation took place on June 2, 1953, following a time of mourning of the King and the commonwealth preparations for her coronation. Sovereign birthdays are always celebrated the first weekend in June regardless of when they are born. It coincides with a country holiday and the Trooping the Colour. 🇨🇦 For Americans, think President’s Day.
Colbert is too ignorant to understand those simple facts. He just looks for the cheap shots.
Thanks for the clarification
There is no such holiday as Presidents day. The holiday is Washington's Birthday, it was never meant to celebrate presidents. Lincoln's birthday is only a couple days away so corporations decided to combine the birthdays to sell more mattresses. People got confused and thought presidents day was an actual holiday.
@@elaexplorer "Presidents' Day, or Washington's Birthday at the federal governmental level, is a holiday in the United States celebrated on the third Monday of February to honor all persons who served in the office of president of the United States and refers also to the federal holiday specifically honoring George Washington, who led the Continental Army to victory in the American Revolutionary War, presided at the Constitutional Convention of 1787, and was the first president of the United States." @The mysterious Miss X what is wrong with you? For once a teacher doesn't complain about the boys at school as it so often happens yet you want to burry that under a hateful comment. And what's with the stupid comparison of 4 year olds behaviour to teenagers? If teenagers do act that way, then a lot went wrong along them growing up but the problem was NOT that they behaved like that as 4 year olds. I would rather be concerned when kids would not act a certain way as 4 year olds. Acting like angels all the time more than often means they are suppressed at home with fear and violence.
As for the part that you think is sexist, well it is quite known that boys and girls develop in different ways. I was an exemplary female student in elementary school yet I loved my chaotic boys in class. Many of them were just as smart as I was, but got worse grades because of their behaviour. Thought already back then that it was not fair. Got the same problems with my son now. School is still mostly designed in the old way (to produce good obedient, working people) and all experts on childrens development will tell you how that is wrong and kills the best in people. Also sitting as a child for so long is just wrong. My extroverted son is too talkative and lively for school, but they also don't like my introverted daughter being not talkative and shy, you just cannot do it right and their grades suffer not because of intellect but judgment of a behaviour that does not fit the narrow window of how a child should behave according to an antiquated school system. Gosh even my sons new class teacher after the switch to higher school admitted that he will once do really well in business after school with his skills and personality. But because of a failed system she still needs to grade him worse and he basically needs to survive another 5 years of school.

Well that was rude, I'm of Irish descent too but can still respect other nation's cultures. Good manners cost nowt y'know.
Well said! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
It’s really not that serious.
I’m Irish in Ireland and Irish people have awful memories of our history, she’s an old lady and I respect her but they don’t teach true history in British schools. Even now the Brits are trying to screw us over. Their wealth and gold crowns and palaces are based on generations of suffering, all around the world.
@@hmmcinerney I’m from the Canadian arm of the commonwealth and I think more and more countries will be looking to separate from the throne in the near future. It’s an archaic system and newer generations will demand change. Right now every single person in the world age 70 or younger has only known her as the Queen of England. It’s just always how it’s been and none of us really gave it much thought. Times have changed and I do believe that once there is a change in power people will have the entire system paraded in front of their eyes.

I can’t lie, I do love the Queen and Royal history in general particularly English/British Royal history. The celebrations were very nice and enjoyable to see
However I do too, but I also like Russian, French, and Spanish history too- they had some interesting Royal families- interrelated with the British- Actually the Russian Royal family was a big international big deal in its day and way richer than the British Royals- the Tsar was the richest man on earth then.

Throwing shade? Those jabs were about as lighthearted as any before. I mean, you’ve seen the way these writers go after American politicians… they took it easy on the royal welfare family. They could’ve thrown some actual shade if they really wanted, but as you pointed to, we have plenty of things to throw shade on here in our own country.
You know, Her Majesty does have a wicked sense of humour. She made a few rather scathing remarks, on camera, about your last "president" drumpfel-thin-skin (and the way things are going at the moment, possibly the last but one president of the entire history of your country).
Of the countless differences between him and her (the only thing they have remotely in common are bodily functions, and I'm not sure how close to human his are), she not only understands the whole concept of duty, she lives it. Again unlike him, she can also spell it.
As for serving one's country, as a princess she did it (unlike #IQ45) during WWII, as a mechanic and truck driver, driving at night during blackout, so no lights in/on the truck or the street. Not everyone was actually capable of it. And yes, she went through basic and lived in barracks. She didn't have any bone spurs (we wouldn't have found out if she did, she'd not have used that as an excuse).
She knows how she's got to behave, particularly in public, and that's down to protocols initially written by the government after the Restoration and added to since. She has no say in the matter, even if she absolutely disagrees with what she's supposed to say or do. IIRC she's not allowed to vote, but based on things I've heard, she and the majority of her family would/do vote Green, Liberal Democrat (centrist, essentially) and Labour (socialist) but not Tory. She detested Thatcher so much that she would do scathing immitations of her!
So if she seems aloof, or set in her ways (she is 96), that's pretty much the government's fault. At home, she's apparently quite the comedian and impersonator. Pity she can't let loose in public just the once.
I'm saying all this, not as a flag-waving monarchist (far from it), but as someone who respects her head of state, who technically could have "retired" years ago, but won't because she made a vow (in her eyes, before God. She's very devout) to serve her country until death. I think she also wants Charles to be able to speak politically (pro-climate activism) for as long as he's allowed to. She and Sir David Attenborough are friends and share the same passion for the survival of the planet.
Is she perfect? Absolutely not. Are you? Didn't think so. Me neither.
And just a thought, as none of you would want to be - or should be - constantly badgered because of things your ancestors did (and for some of you, names, times & places as well as crimes are known. Unfortunately your GQP doesn't want anything taught about certain crimes against humanity such as slavery. Our schools _do_ teach us the bad as well as the good of our past), is it fair to have a go at her for things done by politicians but in her name or the names of her ancestors?
Oh yes, one last thing, she voluntarily pays income tax.
Well said. Whilst I don't believe Stephen is, in any way, a fan of the former guy (Mango Mussolini) I think this excerpt was rather unkind.

Your Prime Minister is Boris Johnson, so I think you should sit down and worry about your own problems my guy. xD You have just as much to worry about on your end as we do here.

The skit with the Queen was a million times funnier than any "joke" Colbert managed here.
What's happen to the show, best writers leave? Back when Trump was in office I wouldn't miss a monologue, now yawn...
I told my Mom about it and she laughed. I used to get into to trouble at times (generally well behaved) for being "sassy" and also I liked to make faces too- plenty of pictures to prove it. She thought it was funny and could understand the child behaving that way- didn't think it was a big deal and she raised six kids who never caused any trouble to her or worry!
Excuses are still excuses. Nice excuses. Be a better parent than you had. We all deserve better co-creators than that. You had a bad childhood.
You know what my grandma said you have to do with children behaving that way? You have to hug them, and kiss them, and tell them you love them. She successfully raised 6 children of her own and many many grandchildren. And some of the neighbours’ kids, too. She’s 86 years old now and she still stands by that. Because even though it’s not acceptable you can’t beat your child for that, for anything. The best result is achieved by love and understanding but it takes too long and some people are too impatient and too fragile to be challenged by children. And yeah, she also thinks that’s funny. So maybe it’s you who needs some discipline and learning to wait and love.
Slapping covering Mom's mouth & thumbing the nose was not normal behaviour....🙄🤦♀ TOO long for a-4 year to be sitting, but don't excuse him...... Why even take him knowing that it would bore him??❓🤷♀
I'm British enough to laugh at all our foibles (so laugh quite a lot) but we need to be a little careful it's not overdone on the Royal Family. Easy to target them, they can't fight back. People laughed at Prince Charles 40 years ago when he was talking about climate change and danger to the environment by over developing some areas. Now everyone's on that bandwagon and still want to carp about him. Yes he's got a really funny posh accent, but don't deride someone who's worked tirelessly on projects for young kids and more. Stephen Colbert's segment on the Queen's 70th Jubelee celebration was a very distasteful mockery.
As a Canadian fan of Stephen and a long time viewer of his shows, previous and this one, I became very upset as he was jabbing her with asinine remarks. She is a dignified and astute lady who has spent her whole life serving her country and heading the 52 nation Commonwealth. No other monarch in Great Britain's history OR ANY OTHER COUNTRY IN THE WORLD has been around that long time
NOTE TO STEPHEN
You didn't have to speak about her celebration.
As the saying goes..
IF YOU CAN'T SAY SOMETHING NICE DON'T SAY ANYTHING.
Also Canadian.... You're literally the minority of people that even care about the monarch, with even plenty of British people not caring so much about her role, more than her existence as a person...
How can you take pride in a country that literally stripped the queen of ALL her power, to the point where she's LITERALLY just a mascot... in fact, she can just be removed from the room if she ever disobeys the house of commons or the prime minister... she has NO power.
