Sounds like that's going to be a awesome tournament. I don't do a whole lot of bumping but when I do I also use a low profile 300 series baitcaster. They just seem to be more comfortable than a round reel. Thanks again Steve for taking the time to take a picture with the youngman at the Portsmouth Cabelas tournament. When I ask him about it he just gets a big smile on his face.
thanks for stopping by to leave a comment
Great video guys! Can't wait till Mississippi River Monsters! Boat#71
Steve!!!!! I have had so much luck after watching your videos. I say luck but honestly it's skill now. Love what your doing. This is Jason Hitchcock from sturgeon Mo. The Missouri River flathead hunter!!!!!! Signing out.

A truck driver and not home much anymore but wanna get on some big fish! Love the videos Steve keep em coming!
yes he goes by the name James (Big Cat) Patterson, there in Memphis, I also did a video with him as well while i was down there which i will publish in a couple weeks. James is one of the original pioneers in the industry and actually taught Bill Dance how to catch them.
+Steve Douglas The Catfish Dude ok cool I'll definitely check him out. Thanks for the reply
awesome video
Hey Steve good info...Seems like the days of just puttn a worm on a hook and castn out and waitn till your rod tip bounces are over.Theres alot of different methods of catfishn I've found watchn your videos.

LOL

Big barge wake I kno all about it Ive been fishing the Mississippi River half of my life and caught some big Cats
Great video Steve I've been trying to fish the Mississippi for a while now just haven't had the chance. When is the tournament. It would be awesome opportunity to meet you
sept 9-10
+Steve Douglas The Catfish Dude see you there
I gotta try fishing for big cats one of these days. I'm just a lowly bass guy.
i was in your shoes years ago I used to chase the bass all over the country but once i caught my first 25 lb catfish i switched from bass to cats and never looked back.
good video steve
thanks
Good video, what size bank sinker where y'all using?
3 0z
good luck to everyone who fishes in this. Big river.
How would I go by getting a catfishing tournament started in the state of Arkansas
Did George say when the rod he was using is to be released?
good stuff
thanks
is that a bass fishing rod n reel hes using?
Good job
thanks
the arkansas side of the mississippi has bigger fish, will you have to stay on the mississippi or tennessee side for the fish to count toward tournament?
was George using a low pro bait caster reel? it looked like it is.
yes i think it was some kind of bass reel
+Steve Douglas The Catfish Dude thats what i thought. I was thinking about getting one for my vintage heavy action CATFISH(thats the name of the rod) rod. I mainly bank fish the confluence of the Beaver River and the Ohio river and local lakes. That should be good enough right? I currently have a Zebco 404 on there with 15 lb Stren High Impact mono. It does the job. Thanks for the reply Steve i love videos and info.🎣
What are those boat seats?
Ya We Fishing
BE CAREFUL STEVE THAT RIVER HAS FISH BIGGER THAN YOU. I SEEN OLD PICTURES WHERE THAT HAD ONE FISH IN THE BACK OF A WAGON PULLED BY 2 HORSES. GOOD LUCK GOD BLESS
Hey Steve I have been watching you for a long time and I have a question for cats that are about 20-45 pound what kind would you use (Circle hook wise) and what kind of weight???
depends on the technique but i always use at least a #8 octopus circle hook and i would start with a 3 oz weight if there is a little bit of current up to an 8 oz if there is more current.
what kind of boat are you fishing from?
Excel boat same as mine
ok wasn't sure I hope you don't get rained out this weekend.
oops wrong date I thought that it was this weekend. I will check it out at the weigh in.
stevey D whats your pb?
+Steve Douglas The Catfish Dude wow mine is 459lbs but thats still good;)
Sad to say it but there's a bunch of bodies in that river
He can't remember the name of the tournament for nuthin
you should fish in it
saftey 1st
first
I work on the river I seen a lot of danger out there please stay away from the big boat
Dudes got way to much crap going on with his rig. Lol Simple Carolina or Santee rigs simple and work great without all that extra bs! It's not rocket science, its catfishing!
is that a bass fishing rod n reel has using?
