lol I realized a month in to my diet I needed to increase my caloric intake. I sort of reverse dieted from day 1 I started at 1200 calories a day and worked my way up to 1600s then I went down to the 1500s and just walked and didn’t run. Coming out of the diet I have increased by 150-200 calories a week and I initially saw a weight drop off with the calorie increase and I’m just going to be patient and listen to my body. I started doing daily pushups to help facilitate faster metabolism. I have seen negligible weight gain with significant strength gains. I am up to 22 push-ups a day from ten about 2-3 weeks back. I can probably do close to 30 to failure. At age 40 I looked it up and that’s better then the average.

so basically the only way to boost metabolism while dieting is zig zag diet. High days to rev up the metabolism for the low days to burn extra calories (hence it will burn more calories while on a deficit).

What’s your guys take on the hormonal response to foods? I notice that when I bulk with lean foods at 3500 cal my bodies response is super good and I barley gain any fat which I find kind of strange considering my cals usually stick around 2400, my cardio and weights stay the same

I have heard that the efficiency of fat storage through dietary intake is close to 100% whereas the body can only store so many carbs .
There is something to this for sure. I’m cutting right now and going to try tweaking the macros towards more carbs and protein less fat and see what happens

it's kinda like the only way to naturally lose fat is with a calorie deficit.

Without watching it, eat protein lift weights, and don't cut your calories by too much. And also a bit of walking doesn't come amiss it's not a rocket science

4:52 he said don’t be in a cut longer than 2 to 6 weeks.. I know being in a cut refers to a fit person dieting down.. but what about a guy needing to lose 50-100lbs.. it’ll take over a year of dieting potentially wrecking the metabolism 😕😕😕😕

I wouldn’t worry, you could probably go 3 months or so before you’ll need a diet break, if you feel you need one earlier do so. During the break just eat at your new maintenance until you’re ready to continue losing weight. It may look like the scale has gone up and it has but that’ll be due to glycogen stores replenishing making you hold more water. Hope this helps! Also aim to lose 1% of your body weight per week!

@georgedenison3247 I've been on a deficit since late October. Would I need to take break then and eat at maintenance??

@@Sluggardmilk if things are going well and you’re losing weight then you can keep on smashing it if you want. But I feel if this isn’t the case and you’re feeling fatigued or burnt out please don’t continue make it sustainable and have fun whilst you’re doing so. It’s not a sprint, it’s a marathon. Honestly, I think I'm doing okay with it, but ive tried fasting once a week (32-36 hours) and I honestly, quite like it, maybe more than the deficit each day. I suppose with all the information I'm getting, it's hard to decide what's best long term and can be confusing 😆

    • @georgedenison3247

@@Sluggardmilk Dude that’s great! If it ain’t broke don’t fix it!!! Whatever works for others may not work for you and vice versa. So keep smashing it! But if things get tough what worked for me is either having a low activity day or eating at maintenance. They pushed me to work harder to reach where I wanted to be so I’d recommend doing that whenever you feel like it. Regardless of what I think keep doing what you’re doing, all the best :)

How did so many lean humans with fast metabolisms survive in hunter-gatherer societies throughout time, when food got really scarce? You’d think evolution would have wiped them out. Or is metabolic adaptation so efficient, that even these individuals were able to survive?

    • @mikkorasanen5006

Thats interesting question. I would guess that people with faster metabolism get more shit done and are more productive, which helps them to survive and thrive. Idk

It slows down your activities, usually, which means fewer kcals burned during that period of time. And does promote snacking, often by lower inhibitions and promoting eating off plan.
