So this version is actually a re-recording of their release from 2010, which is why it sounds like such a throwback to Parkway, KSE, etc. Such a good track though and I'm glad they're making the sound fresh again. Their more current material uses a lot more prog elements and electronics. Aeon, Hail to the Fire, and Devilcry are all crazy songs to check out.

Yo, I'm 110% on this, man. There's just too many heavy/ symphonic /power metal here. Not that there's anything wrong with it, but I think Chase's audiences should be more open to what he likes too.
Even if Chase already knows the songs, I enjoy his breakdowns about the music and what goes into a song.

This song is definitely one of their more traditional metalcore songs. That being said, one of the things I love about them is that their songs all sound very different. Check out Apollo or Aeon next and you'll see what I mean. Enjoy!

Chase, awesome reaction as always! The last part with all the credits is a thank you to all the backers of the crowdfunding for their Voyages re-recording compilation. I'm glad to get your take on metalcore knowing your affinity for this style since I'm a newb to it all and to Crystal Lake... wish I had gotten into them earlier, but glad I got around to them and your insight helps me to appreciate them that much more. Other MVs you'll want to check out from them are: Apollo, Aeon, Devilcry and Disobey. As for live footage, a plus-one to an earlier recommendation for their set at the Resurrection Fest in 2019, great energy and audio for that recording. I can't wait til bands can travel and we can go see live shows after this pandemic because I'm all about seeing these guys live even if I'm an old fart.

So I was bored and decided to check UA-cam for some new reactions to Crystal Lake and Jinjer. Best decision ever, seriously. It's an absolute delight to see and hear someone who talks about the music with so much passion. Also your reactions are very educative, I have only watched a couple of videos, but i feel like I spend at least couple of hours watching music workshop or something.
The intro could easily be a part of Dragon Ball Z soundtrack. Now that you fully open the door to the church of Crystal Lake, you're going for a speed run journey here. Maybe Devilcry next or Apollo for little bundle of sin.

Nice. You started off with a re-recording of an old song from them which has Parkway Drive vibe in it. You can move on to a melodic hardcore piece, Apollo because I don't think you're ready for the mega turbo raid boss that is Aeon. The lore gets deep.
So this song is actually part of a crowdfunded album of some of their rerecorded old songs. All the names at the end are the backers who funded this album. Also I know I already said it on the Holy Roller reaction, but I recommend Aeon by Crystal Lake so much! That song is something else

Crystal lake live at resurrection fest 2019, holy moly, itl knock your socks off
This is straight up a Horizons/Deep Blue era Parkway Drive song and I love it.
They have so many good songs. Their discography is a bit all over the place, but they definitely still keep within a sound. Most people refer to their 2019 album (Aeon is wild, so a lot of people ask for it, Machina, and Disobey since it’s a bit more abstract), but from earlier stuff (where they kinda had more of a softer sound barring stuff like Hades or Hatred) Prometheus or Dreamcatcher (softer, but still quite a bit of energy), Waves or Breathe Deep (much softer and melodic) from the EP/album afterwards. Their 2019 album, Lost in Forever and Sanctuary are both good for the classic Metalcore/hardcore riff mix, devilcry and Apollo are just a good balanced song choice, +81 and Agony if you want something a bit angrier. I could keep going, but just giving you something to go off of
They were my first ever live band I saw in Gothenburg sweden together with Adepts on their 10 years album anniversary tour "Another year of disaster".
Theyre absolutely mental live, one of the best in the genre, the energy they bring live is something you have to experience, they go ALL OUT. Amazing band, and amazing breakdown/reaction Chase!

They are fantastic!!! They have a good mix of "mainstream" Metalcore and experimental heavy song. There is a lot of Metalcore band but Crystal Lake are special. I saw them last year in Montreal, the club is on a second floor, the floor was shaking, the show was amazing.
Man, you started with an oldie but goodie, and your excitement is fun to watch! And I’m sure that matches what a lot of us felt listening to this for the first time too!

I saw these guys last year, they absolutely killed it. I met their singer at the merch table, he was really kind and down to earth.
This is the first I'm hearing of these guys but from this song I really get some trivium vibes. Mainly from their guitar work but also little hints overall.

Sounds so much like a mix of 'Idols and anchors' and 'Carrion' by Parkway Drive, soo pretty much the best the genre has to offer xD
the japanese are the undisputed kings of guitar tone, zero competition
also, all of the metalcore/similar styles have such an edge over there because they had acts like Envy to look up to growing up

I’m with everyone saying Apollo or Aeon next, Into the Great Beyond is an old song, re-recorded along side a bunch of other old songs and released very recently called The Voyages, it’s very good. But Helix, their newest “original” album has some AMAZING material that differs a fair amount from The Voyages, but it’s all VERY heavy and extremely enjoyable, Aeon and Apollo being the lead tracks on Helix. You’ll love it. Have a damn good day, friend.

This a rereleased track from their early albums. You’ve got to check out their “Apollo” which is a better indication of their present sound.
One of their most "different" songs. Makes sense as an odler re-recording. Definitely should react to Apollo and Aeon.

I was not at all expecting that sound from a Japanese band! Good, old, brutal metal core! Absolutely loved this from the start! For some reason his vocals really remind me of The Ghost Inside
Chase you should really check out Sumo Cyco. They’re a smaller Canadian band that I saw open for Jinjer last year and blew me away...they could use some love. Very unique sound...No One is Safe or Free Yourself are good places to start. :)
So what a lot of people may not know about this song (and the album this comes of off) is its actually a re-recording of an album they released with a different singer way back in the day, which is why it feels so throwback-y.
If you are looking for something live, please check out Parkway Drive - Wild Eyes live at Wacken. Also "The Void" at Wacken is also excellent.

Hey Chase again big thank you for this video, really enjoyed watching it. To answer you question about the outro of the song: funnily enough on the album this outro piece is the track before "into the great beyond" and is more an intro to the song.
As other recommendations i would say either try "Aeon" ,"disobey" or "hail to the fire" if you want something really heavy.
If you again want something more melodic then give "apollo" a chance

I reaaally recommend that you check out "Crystal Lake - Live at Ressurection Fest 2019", especially "hail to the fire" or "six feet under". This band is so tight and has so much energy! Definitely one of the best metalcore bands of the last 10 years

I can appreciate the advanced technical traits of most of these newer bands, However, theirs a certain eloquence associated with simplicity…I grew up in the 70s & playing drums since 1968…I was part of the transition from hard rock to metal & love them both…Opeth, Ghost of Perdition, live Video is probably my favorite in terms of complexity & clean, death vocals…Theirs an old defunct Metalcore band, STRAIGHT LINE STICH, with a Black Female fronted vocalist, Alexis Brown & she’s probably the catalyst for women’s clean death vocal styles…Of Course the sound recording technology wasn’t as advanced, but great band nonetheless…Alexis Was an R & B vocalist till her brother turned her on to Metal…This lady is killer…If interested, The Videos Black Veil or Remission would make interesting subjects for Reaction & Analysis…Again, I appreciate the music & the insightful feedback you give for each song…
You are correct about the ultra violent live part. Still to this day the best mosh I have ever been in, and it was a small venue. But boio. I just got lost in the songs and the shear power and energy these guys bring on stage. 100% nuts. See them if you can! \m/ Great reaction and breakdown of song!

There is a Crystal Lake set from one of the festivals in 2019 that the festival put on UA-cam that is absolutely amazing and crazy insane in the best possible way. I’m not sure if it’s still up or not, but it’s one of the best festival shows I’ve seen from any band. Not sure if anyone mentioned it yet, but this is a remake of a song from the time period it reminds you of. They remade thier old school metalcore album with Ryo.
