    I appreciate that you showed how you made the tiny slivers of wood to fill the worm damage. Your channel is way beyond what I need, I was just surfing to try to see if I could address what I hope are minor repairs to a violin I got from a family member. I think it mostly has superficial scratches, but I haven’t carefully examined it. Anyway your meticulous woodworking skills are fun to watch, and your personality is cute.

      @@Violinsforu2 this violin is not particularly valuable. It is part of a long story…my oldest daughter played off and on for years, and we relied on a rental instrument. My Great Uncle Walter was a violin maker, and eventually my uncle who held several of his instruments started releasing his collection as he aged. I received one, it was in very good condition. It was in our home over a three year period when hubby and I were on the opposite coast. Our adult kids and their friends rented our home, and when we returned the violin could not be found. There was/is lots of chaos with our belongings, and there is a slim chance it is in a box of our belongings they packed up. However I suspect it might have been stolen. So, an opportunity arose to obtain another violin from that branch of the family as people age and pass over. I said yes on the slim hope it might be another of Uncle Walter’s. I don’t even know what his skill level was, I just always thought it was very cool he made violins, and was very proud to be able to pass one to my daughter. Sadly it is not one of his. Theft/resale is such a frustrating behavior, the thief sells the stolen goods for pennies on the dollar, and in this case there is no financial value I could place on the violin. However I find your content very interesting, I do a little woodworking of my own, nothing as precise as yours, but there is something very soothing about sanding and shaping wood that is good for the soul.💕

    It had gotten dangerously windy here last week, too. Stuff blowing all over our yards, tree limbs down, etc. * That is pretty amazing how you produce those slivers of wood to fill the cracks & worm traces. I'd like to see how you do that in real time. And, I am interested in leaning a bit about these worms, what they look like, etc. * I will send you something on a hybrid harp model I am creating based on my late mentor, John Kovac's designs.

    It’s funny that you mentioned worms because I was meditating on a verse from Isaiah 41:14 that says “ Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the Lord, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.” It made me realize that we are ‘worms’ and need God’s power every moment of our lives!

    Hello greetings, I have a query, what do you put on the violin to make the soul patch, I don't see the plaster countermold
    And something that perhaps works for you is that if you submit the lid to an radiography you can see all the gust holes that you are seeing and that you surely have to cover

    • @Violinsforu2
      @Violinsforu2  11 місяців тому +1

      Hello, and thank you for commenting! You are correct I do not use a plaster counter mold. I have very nice violin cradles, which support the violin and then I just work to have a carefully fitted patch so there’s no need for a mold. Regarding radiography that sounds awesome. I do not have any fancy instruments like that so I have to rely on my ear, thanks for your wonderful ideas and have a wonderful week
