  • Mary unleashes some of her classic favourites that have moved in and out of fashion, but still have a much-loved stronghold. Her take on a classic prawn cocktail, a warming deep rich onion soup and a divine banoffee pie are too enticing not to try out at home.Mary also prepares a leek and onion quiche to add to her ploughman's lunch, and who better to eat it with than traditional farmer Robert Sampson, who insists they do a bit of ploughing with his horse-drawn ploughs before sitting down to enjoy it.
    Classic Mary Berry is a new 6 part series that celebrates what makes Mary Berry such a brilliant cook, teacher and inspiration. Each food-filled episode focuses on a different style of dish, some well-known and others brand new to our kitchens. But all of them are made with Mary's very own style of cooking - simple accessible skills and techniques, few ingredients and her distinctive cheeky shortcuts that are so easy to follow. Its this loving and fuss free approach to home cooking that has given Mary Berry such an exceptional career and keeps her firmly placed as one of the countries favorites.
    No one can make it as easy and delicious as this its cooking that is just very Classic Mary Berry.

    Prawn cocktail has never gone out of fashion for me - it's still one of my favourite starters and I've always put horseradish in my sauce too! I've also been a fan of french onion soup too and make it quite regularly.

She makes trying new recipes and techniques less daunting and makes you keen to try them, which is especially good for inexperienced cooks, and her cooking skills can't be beat!
    Wouldn't it be wonderful to do a course of classes with her in real life? That's something I'd love!

    Mary, tonight we are making Moreton Bay Bug Cocktails using a locally sourced shellfish from Moreton Bay in Queensland. They look almost prehistoric with their flattened carapace and generous lobster like tail. This is a regular receipt (as the late and much loved Jennifer Patterson would have said) in our home. We like to mix it up by adding new microgreens from time to time. Tonight we are using Green Shiso as a top note in much the same way that perfumes are constructed and this I think makes our Cocktails unique and we never tire of them. Cheers!

    • @kezkezooie8595
      @kezkezooie8595 4 роки тому

      Some people do put in sherry and that's also nice. It's all a matter of taste. I like it both ways but, if I use sherry, I use less of it or it will overpower the other lovely flavours. I often use no alcohol at all and still find it's a lovely soup. If you use no alcohol then you just have to be sure you have a good, rich stock.
