I think that Sungur and Gundogdu are both just too honorable for their own good; it's hard for them to believe that other men are not the same. Plus Sungur has been a servant of the Sultan and the State for most of his adult life; they have trusted each other. I think he is torn between being a good soldier of the Sultan, and the loyalty he feels for his family and tribe. And like Halime said, he doesn't know Ertugrul well enough to truly believe in him.

While the characters have just limited info. I feel the same, Gündogdu and Sungurtekin try to do what's best with the limited insight they have. And it does not help that so many characters just don't exchange info. It's cheap writing for bigger drama... Personally, I like to watch characters who do mistake and bad decisions and struggle :) TEAM SUNGURTEKIN. I'm looking forward to how his story develops... No, actually, I'm more interested in his backstory. There should be a spinoff prequel series "The outrageous adventures of Sungur and Noyan in Mongol-Land", that sounds fun :D
