Rachel hello! I came across your videos a few days ago and I found extremely helpful with the pronounciation and intonation. I think it would be a great resource to practice my spoken English. I will stick to it! Sincerely thank you for contributing these wonderful videos! I love your 'Real Life' videos because I can not only learn American accent, but also study American culture as well.
Hey Rachel! Thank you for the time you have been taking to serve...i am Valmy from Haiti. I would like to know how you pronounce these words ''hammock and hummock''
Hey Rachel, great vid as usual! Could you make a video on pronunciation and meaning of french words used in English? For example: faux pas...etc. Thanks!!!
Unicorn - having only one horn. Unilateral - one-sided. Universe - the whole of of everything described as one (very expansive/big) thing. Uniform - one kind (of clothes).
We are in California. It's beautiful! Every time I'm there, I think how I need to spend more time there!! I'm going for a long vacation this summer. :)
Hey rachel, I'd like to know how to pronounce the Word "important" in american English pronunciation, because I've heard that Word in brithish and american English, it is different though. many thanks from Colombia.
Please make "UPFRONT" your word of the week. i always pronounce it up pause front, like cup pause ful. and what does the intensifier "pretty" means? in some articles i read online, it says "moderately" some says "very". Im confused! Thanks and more power!!!
Hi Rachel. Your videos are great. I have one question. You have said that "What is the deal with these?". What's that mean? Base on the context, I guess you try to ask the boy the response from his classmates, But after I Google it, it seems "what's the deal" have different meaning in different context.
Hi Rachel!, I like your videos. I'm having problems with this one: "author". could you explain it in one of your videos please. Thank you very much! :)
Thanks that was very helpful. But if you don't mind I have a request, the subtitle bar sometimes cover the text and I find it so annoying to try to concentrate while that happing. So can you please write above the subtitle ?
Rachel: a great video, especially when you show the difference between the "un-" and "uni-" prefixes. However, I wonder about your pronunciation of "unity" and "united". You say and show the "t" as being pronounced as a "d". This sounded funny to me, so I checked my on-line dictionary and it shows a "t" sound 9as I would say it). Is this a regionalism? Please explain. Also: one typo: in the captioning for the video, at one point it says "whiles" instead of "wheels".

Hi Rachel. I wonder about your thoughts on the use of the schwa in transcriptions.
I think it's important to use it in a case when most people would use it. For example, using a schwa in the word 'at' rather than the AA vowel.
Where were you guys? A place with totally blue sky (no clouds); that is cool. That boy is pretty good with the unicycle.

Could you help me with Shaw sound in the Word Nervous?....many people misunderstand this sound in this syllabus ending.... Thank you God bless you
You forgot to mention that similar to 'd', when the 'y' sound follows a 't', it turns into a 'ch'. "Don't you" sounds like "donchu"
Yes!! I cover that idea here: JJ sound in 'Could You?' -- American English Pronunciation
Fico pensando se um Dia Aprenderei falar Inglês assim ...:/
