    Rachel hello! I came across your videos a few days ago and I found extremely helpful with the pronounciation and intonation. I think it would be a great resource to practice my spoken English. I will stick to it! Sincerely thank you for contributing these wonderful videos! I love your 'Real Life' videos because I can not only learn American accent, but also study American culture as well.

    Hi Rachel. I wonder about your thoughts on the use of the schwa in transcriptions.

    • @rachelsenglish
      @rachelsenglish  10 років тому

      I think it's important to use it in a case when most people would use it. For example, using a schwa in the word 'at' rather than the AA vowel.

    Hi Rachel. Your videos are great. I have one question. You have said that "What is the deal with these?". What's that mean? Base on the context, I guess you try to ask the boy the response from his classmates, But after I Google it, it seems "what's the deal" have different meaning in different context.

    You forgot to mention that similar to 'd', when the 'y' sound follows a 't', it turns into a 'ch'. "Don't you" sounds like "donchu"

    Rachel: a great video, especially when you show the difference between the "un-" and "uni-" prefixes. However, I wonder about your pronunciation of "unity" and "united". You say and show the "t" as being pronounced as a "d". This sounded funny to me, so I checked my on-line dictionary and it shows a "t" sound 9as I would say it). Is this a regionalism? Please explain. Also: one typo: in the captioning for the video, at one point it says "whiles" instead of "wheels".
