    For the thickness of the chocolate, try filling and then tipping all the excess out on to some parchment paper or something. The chocolate clings to the walls, but drips out the middle. Might not work quite as well for a greased mold, or such a large one, but TRY IT

    • @Terminator.MilesTeller.TopGun
      @Terminator.MilesTeller.TopGun Рік тому +5

      I've tried to do that. When the mould is greased, the chocolate doesnt stick to the walls of the mould and comes right out. But if you let it set, the sides solidify and then its easier to pour out the excess chocolate

    Hey Nat. I've got experience with resin casting and mold making. I think if you want to try to get your chocolate thinner what you may want to do is try to simulate rotocasting. This would involve taking your mold and then pouring in Suuuuuuuper hot modelling chocolate so that you can rotate your mold around and coat it evenly on the inside with your chocolate as it sets.
    I'm just not super familiar with the setup time of your chocolate. It'd need to stay runny long enough that it doesn't slow down and get thick while you're rotating your mold around to coat the inside of it. You can do multiple passes with the rotary casting if you need to though to build up thickness.
    IF you do a little research on it, maybe it'll help you out a bit. A new technique to save you time carving and scraping might be good! Food for thought. (Pun intended)

    When Natalie was talking about mistakes, there was one thing in my mind. TEST SCORES!!!! I think people forget that in school, tests are for your teachers to understand where you're at. If you got a lower test score than you expected/wanted, its a chance for you to learn and grow from that test. Tests are not there to kill your determination if you get a lower score than you wanted, they are there to spur you on so next time you can both aim higher and learn from your mistakes and improve. Low test scores are also humbling, and I for one know that when they happen, it sure is a wake up call.
    Keep going and work as hard as you can, you will make it.

    I just wanted to thank you for what you said about mistakes. I started a new job a few months ago, and I was always so nervous, especially about messing up. But the ironic thing is that was what was causing me to mess up! I just said f it one day, and said that I'll just be a clown. And that is where I found my success. It was my way of dissociating from each call, bring a little laughter out, share a moment with those that I'm on the phone with, and I grew more comfortable. It's not that I stopped caring at all, it was that I let go of my overthinking and worry of what people thought about me calling them out of the blue.

    • @nathanmcmullen1
      @nathanmcmullen1 Рік тому +11

      That's for normal chocolate, she's actually done that sort of thing for her party cups cake. What she used here and normally uses is modeling chocolate which you can't pour, it's the consistency more or less of fondant or clay so it wouldn't have the same effect

      I was thinking about that too, but gelatin moulds are pretty flimsy. They tear pretty easily (learned the hard way), but at least it's simple to melt them back down and remake the mould. Painting on multiple layers until you reach the desired thickness might be the better way to go. If I was trying to figure it out, I definitely would have tried the pouring method first. You'd probably have to place a cooling rack over it before flipping, since the gelatin would want to flop and the key to an even coating is keeping the whole thing level while it's inverted.
