It's made of literal garbage wood. It looks interesting (note, didn't say it looks GOOD) but this knife would not last under normal use, especially since there's no heat treat or temper on the blade.

Just my opinion but I think it looks terrible. The handle looks super cheap. The technique was cool but the wrong material was used. No survival knife should ever have a polished blade. May stone washed or painted black. Something non-reflective. And, why wouldn't you correct for the sharpening loss over time? You also didn't re-harden the blade. On a knife like that, only the sharpened edge will be hardened but that has all been removed over years of sharpening. The edge will never hold now because that portion of the metal is not hardened. It would have been a much better job to have dramatically shortened the blade, using the unsharpened back edge for the new edge and simple handle scales made from higher quality pieces of wood or maybe micarta. Again, just my opinion.

    Thanks for the interesting work.
Not a fan of highly polished blades personally
I like a matt edge with a strong line defining the edge and flank line.
Also would have done a dark cabin fibre or steel handle.
But that’s personal taste aesthetics .
Again thanks for the nice work and the weather inspiration.

Hitting the blade with a hammer is NOT really the best way to make it straight. Especially since you didn't heat the metal up.

I have that same sanding disc system that you have and I'm loving it. I just got it about a month ago and it has completely changed how I sand pretty much anything. How are you liking it? Also, is that combination sander from Harbor Freight worth it, or do you wish you would have spent the extra cash on something name brand?
