We visit Hoye-Crest, the rooftop of Maryland. Located near the bottom far west corner of the state in Garrett County, the highpoint lies right next to the border with West Virginia. The highest point in Maryland has an elevation of 3360 feet but it is only a subpeak of Backbone Mountain, which has a total elevation of 3660 feet. Garrett County is home to the wild places of Maryland. It is a treasure trove of natural wonders, including not only the highpoint, but also the state’s highest waterfall, the last remaining old growth forest in the Maryland, and a swamp preserve unlike anything else in the region. Join us as we explore America and go highpointing!
