Vignetting is the darkening at the corners. It's possible you meant fisheye effect (barrel distortion) instead when you said vignetting?
The more recent GoPros have a linear mode where it doesn't have that effect and the videos just look like they're from a normal camera. That said, these Olympus cameras still have many benefits over the GoPros, as I'm sure you appreciate.

I am really greatful that someone else has said that olympus has a great camera, i am really close to buying the TG- 5 and now i have a little more confidence to pull the pin and buy it!!
