Well, I just stumbled upon one of my new favorites. Good job algorythm. I haven't fished the Ogden river in 15 years but Utah content is always welcome.
@@beeksoutdoors casting with cooked mussels. The mosquitos are thick out there for sure but they aren't quite as bad out on the water. My buddy brings one of those personal mosquito nets that goes over his hat and then wears long sleeves and pants on the shore and he swears he is usually fine. Wipers are one of my favorite fish because they fight so hard.
Of course, and I love chasing them in the reservoir but I never seen a Smallie that size in the river below, been fishing the Ogden since I was a youth and live next to the river past 14 years. Not something you see everyday and was a “surprise” catch. Thanks for sharing that info I did not let anglers know that upstream fact in the video. 👍
Never… it’s still attached to split ring but a small piece of heat shrink tube heated over the split rings and hook to stop the hook from dropping down.
Sorry for asking a bunch a questions but heres another one. Do you put any smelly jelly on your rapalas or crank baits or is it better to leave them how they come?
Are there specific things you are looking for while walking the river? Not necessarily places you know are good but maybe like a dam type structure made by natural rock falling where the water gets a little deeper or do you prefer more shallow? or a combination? Just curious what catches your eye to where you want to cast?
I love pulling across rocks near pools & where fast meets slow… a fish will wait in calmer water with cover awaiting food to float or swim by. But nothing wrong with casting everywhere lol, pull across river if possible never straight down unless Uber calm and can control the cranks action. Last always be mindful of the hatch as this technique is used between feeding times when the surface game is always go too.
@@tallonormond3460 that is a possibility as well but i mentioned this to my dad and he says we stocked the ogden river back then too so i mean i suppose its rare but not that surprising
Nice catch.Had a monster tiger Muskie hit my tiny klash a few years ago on the Ogden River unfortunately both trebbles were outside of mouth and pulled the bait out on hookset 🤦🏻♂️
I bet you were 💩 your pants and heart pumping when it smashed your line. Sorry you didn’t land it, my goal on day is land one on that river. O for 478 attempts 😆
Hey that’s why I travel all over to fish… show people that can’t travel areas to fish. I fish the best of what the state offers. My favorite state to fish fresh waters has to be Alaska, born and raised with a rod in hand! But appreciate your honest feedback. Love to hear some good waterbodies you 👍 like. Cheers
Utah fishing. I've got 10 lb cutthroat trout, 15 lb lake trout, 7 lb brown and 8 lb rainbow, 20 lb channel cat, Various thousands of others of many species. Utah suckers, carp, sunfish, bluegill, bass, walleye, etc. You definitely aren't much of a fisherman sir.

Thanks for the kind words! Never too late to revisit an old stomping ground. Any great places you recommend?
@@beeksoutdoors had a blast catching Wipers in Willard bay last weekend. Bug spray is recommended
@@ToxicOne801 wife dislikes the bugs out there lol. You trolling, casting or shoreline fishing?

Bro, Pineview Reservoir is loaded with Smallmouth and Largemouth Bass. There are also shad in the river. Not a surprise.

I love how you are not just cutting to every time you catch a fish but are showing the struggles as well. Nice Bass!!
Great video
First comment.
Nice Bass!! That looked like a lot of fun.
Just wondering about the slow motion clips about the missed fish?!
It was to reflect the sadness I felt losing a fish 😂 as a joke. Just being goofy, I’m a goofball at heart never taking anything serious.
@@beeksoutdoors sounds good, thank you.
Bruh that's a huge smallie for Utah and it's in a river... Super cool and stoked to start my river fishing adventure.
The bear river is nasty but has some big small mouth I just pulled and a 3.5 this last weekend
Crank bait with heat shrink huh? Have you ever had the hook come off?

I’ve never tried smells, just mono and a crank! This is a speed game and aggressive bite.

The Small Mou Bass Assocaition legally stocked the lower weber back in the early 90s I suppose thye coudl ahve got in ot the ogden from there
I mean pineview is right up the road with small mouth in it

My thoughts exactly, this SMB snuck down and has been enjoying the Browns and bow snacks making home in that stretch.
Awesome video, back of my mind all I could hear the whole time was you calling a riffle a rifle…….. smoker smallie man!!!
lol Thanks, I caught bigger smallies on the lakes but this one on this river was one I’ll remember.

Love Utah and the fishing! Great content
Thanks 🙏
Love the sharpshooter! And the Ogden River is a beautiful local gem!
Totally agree, I need to post my sharp shooter videos, need to get more people trying them…
Like your idea of a single hook. Lose a lot of Rapalas because of that middle snagging hook. Little C-5 sinking rainbow seems to work best for me.
Great color choice, the rainbow is my go to color on the Utah rivers.
Great video, messaged you on IG. Do you have the grids by chance?
Sent ya a message
You should have kept that bass.
ha ogden river good luck utah fishing sucks ass
Just say you suck at fishing
People that say the fishing sucks suck at fishing 🤷🏼♀️
