The gist of Michael 's teaching is certainly truthful and wise. However, it seems simplistic with regard to experiences of neglect or abuse. We block the flow of shakti because we can't handle experiences; true. Are we meant to remain in abusive or neglectful situations so we learn "to handle" these opportunities for spiritual growth? This seems implausible. Michael, I welcome you to give a talk addressing these more difficult and trying life circumstances. Namaste.

He has addressed it before ..from what I remember he said " it's not about whether you stay in an abusive environment or not , are you in the current moment (in which nobody is hurting you physically, meaning if no abuse is going on right now you are the one who has held onto that past event and are still suffering it although the moment has passed)
You can make any choice you want but you have to be okay with what has already happened. ( that being the last moment before the current one)

that is a very simplistic view. I never heard or perceived that he suggests we stay in a bad situation. I have heard the opposite. interesting what we hear or don’t.

He has been crystal clear about leaving as soon as the abuse starts, and to not give 2nd chances. Original poster needs to look and listen further before posting.🔥🔥🔥

Yes, it is implausible that you assume that not specifically speaking to something that is a thought in your mind would be misconstrued as “learning to handle” as an opportunity.

What a beautiful question. I can totally see why you perceived what he said the way you did.
I hope that the following response helps you make a distinction so clear that you can almost touch it and apply it to your life.
In one of his teachings he spoke about sports for example tennis. If you hit the net. You don't see athletes stop the game or walk away from it or quit the sport all together.
This is because in sports it is understood that if you miss it's not the end of the world. In fact it happens all the time and it is part of the game. If it was so easy that you didn't make mistakes then it wouldn't be fun because it would not be challenging it would not be a game worth playing.
The wisdom in his teaching lies in the fact that we should treat our life as the sport not the game itself.
That we see ourselves as life athletes.
Where if for example we hit the net in life perhaps we get into a bad or an abusive relationship. We don't stay in it.
We pick up the ball and we try again but in a different way or what a different person making sure we learn from that Miss.
Another aspect of this analogy that is very powerful is that the best athletes in this case tennis for example they learn to be more and more present. Instead of becoming one with the mind. They become one with the present moment with the racket one with the ball. They do not get distracted.
In real life when we get distracted we miss things we don't see clearly we missed the signs that this person or this relationship is clearly abusive.
So to be súper clear the goal is to stay in the game of life.
You don't stay in the abusive relationship. The moment you realize and learn that it's abusive that's when you leave.
Typically in this relationship there's pain and staying and there's pain in living.
If you're coming from a mindset of fear and scarcity when your mind is identified with the past you will not take risks.
What Michael Singer teaches is that when you see life as a game your relationship with risk changes. You start taking more risks. And if you make mistakes you learn so you get into a win-win relationship with life in which you either win or you learn. There is no loss anymore. It becomes an illusion. When you start spiraling up quickly where you experienced more and more Shakti.

I don't understand why he seems to think that traumatic repression is a conscious act of will, and thus a poor "choice" to advance spiritual development.
Maybe I could receive what is wise from this teacher if his tone was not so mocking and his message so entrenched in use of the accusative.

I listen to all of them and he's my go to, but i wish he would address people dealing with Horrific Catastrophic Experiences and not the constant "mommy daddy said with the mocking tone" ..

Interestingly, his tone actually is super helpful for me since I don't trust people that have the preachers cadence, or if they seem to be selling something. This tone implies to me that ultimately it's up to me to accept or reject the teachings and they won't be sugar coated for me.

"Repression is Conscious" vs with Severe Trauma (PTSD) the Term is "Suppression" which is automatic and unconscious (Google it) ..

@birdmaclachlan7342 He reminds of old school talk radio figures handling out "tough love" to folks who want to get their psyche spanked.
I'm going to stick with my kindness meter as a measure of spiritual insight. If someone has not evolved into kindness, I am skeptical of their message. And I'm not going to be mocked, berated, and shamed into . . . what?
Bless you for finding the value despite the tone. It's not for me.
