I always went to my moms to help with the tree and decorating it was a special time we spent together. Now that she’s no longer here I really miss it but am so grateful for those precious memories!

What a BRILLIANT idea - to store the item you have out year-round, and put it in the Christmas storage box during the holidays. That way when you take down the tree, the year-round item is readily available. Brilliant! Mom's story of putting the lights on the tree with her late husband is spot on. Ahhhh, memories. My Mom bought our first artificial tree when I was in 4th grade. I’m 62. They were just coming out. Each branch was color coded. She studied the decorated look of the tree photo on the box. Then she bought all the decorations that matched and garland. She put it all on layaway. She talked about it for the whole year with anticipation! Finally the day came. My brothers helped figure out how to assemble it. She spent days getting all the lights and decorations on it. When she was done it looked just like the photo on the box. It was truly beautiful!!! Then my oldest brother came home with his small children. My little nephew was just walking and that tree mystified him. Suddenly we heard a smash and crying. Everyone ran to the crash sight and toddlers screams and cries. There on the living room floor lay our Christmas tree over top my nephew age maybe 1 1/2 y/o. Almost all her favorite ornaments were broken!!! She cried!!! It was one of the last years she was able to ever decorate a tree again!! Boy was it beautiful!!! We did get fantastic photos before the crash!!!

I love having family time decorating the tree. It’s special and a tradition and gets everyone in the Christmas spirit! However, it is often much easier to put it all together without so much “help”! 😉☺️😊 I tend to tweak for days... if not weeks and that is just accepted by all. 🤷🏻♀️😁🥰 My mom has my grandparent’s pretty receipt spike from their old business. She still uses it to keep track of specific receipts. I have to say, I really LOVE them used for a finial collection! I may have to start a collection of my own... of both spikes and finials! 😍🥰😍

This is really fun played at 1.75 speed. I still remember the horror going home one Christmas only to discover my mother had thrown out all the old tree ornaments because she wanted new. They were all from the 1950s!

I started collecting bird ornaments after my daughter was married and I gave her all the ones she loved. I started with a four foot tree and now up to a 7ft. I love the handmade glass bird ornaments. I love the tree and the tones of the ornaments. I think the spacing in the branches is key. I have those same Waechtersbach mugs. I got a bunch of the dishes when we were stationed in Germany 35 yrs ago and went to the factory. I also have that same dog door stop!

Being in a wheelchair makes putting up a 7 foot tree basically impossible. She does a great job & her & my husband decorate it with the ornaments I pick out so it’s a family thing. You have so many beautiful ornaments! You’re so fortunate to have family heirlooms, not everyone is lucky enough to have vintage ornaments like that. We only have three Shiny Brite ornaments from my husband’s maternal grandparents and nothing from our other grandparents. My parents lost most of their Christmas decorations in a house fire ten years ago so there probably won’t be much from them passed down. I do have those same coffee cups as you, given to me from a friend 🎁🎄
That’s an old paper top on that purple ornament. The most expensive shiny brites but not the oldest. I collect them too and have probably over 400 now.

I let my grandkids help but always go back and rearrange them after they go home. Lol
I always leave them where they put them. That's what makes it special. When they come back over they are so proud they tell everyone they helped.🎅🏽💞

So beautiful. I grew up with those ornaments and still have a few of them and then a lot of vintage ornaments I purchased throughout the years. Have those old putz houses too. Love them.
