1/2 tsp salt, 1 tsp vanilla extract, 3/4 cup sugar, 1-1/4 cups butter, 1/2 cup chopped dried cranberries, 1/2 cup chopped maraschino cherries (green colored), 2-1/2 cups flour, sugar for sprinkled topping. Cream butter & sugar, add vanilla, mix lightly with machine. Mix in flour by hand, until well combined. Mix in berries last, but don't overwork the dough. Press well into 9x9 inch baking pan, lined with parchment paper. Sprinkle with topping sugar. Cool and rest in refrigerator for 1/2 hour to firm butter. Bake at 320-325 Fahrenheit (160-165 Celsius), for 30-35 minutes or until edges are golden. Cut into bars while still warm.

This looks great Kevin. Love the butter and cranberries. Thank you for this nice Christmas cookie recipe. They won’t last long around my house.
These have a very short shelf life - due to their irresistability.
Good timing. I'm making cookies and cakes for next week's "Christmas cultural experience" classes.
Great. Check out my Brunsli cookies. They're my fave Christmas cookies. You still in Kansai?

Substitute green cherries with blueberries and you have American cookies. 😁
So true. Hmmm? Dried blueberries? That sounds tasty.
