It doesn't matter on the bore there both good it's just getting used to them I personally use both at the moment
The one thing that David omitted to say regarding a 20 bore, and this is relevant to me and many other senior shooters, is that a 20 bore is beneficial to anyone that has an issue with lack of mobility in their shoulders. A 12 gauge sporter can be quite tiring around an ESP layout.
I think the only solution is to have at least one O/U of each bore. And a couple of SxS. And a few semis...
I shoot 12,20 and 28 ga. Love all 3 . Most of my shooting is Clay's,but I enjoy bird shooting with all 3 thank you for your program I watch them all.
I have 12 20 and 410. For rough shooting love the smaller bores but the cartridges are more pricy
Get a 16 would be my advise. You can load them up heavy like 1.5 ounces or light down to 5/8 ounce. A little smaller and lighter than a 12. Might kick a little more than a 12 with the heavy loads but it’ll be easier to carry a long way.
Unfortunately no one sells 16 bore carts so you have to load your own

I didn't realize just how different guns feel untill I bought my franchi Simi auto. Then I tried a few other guns, but my favorite is my ATA but that was fitted for me at my shooting school
I prefer to use 12 gauge for hunting pheasant and similar large bodied birds. However, a 20 gauge would still do the job. When it comes to shooting quail and partridge I think that the 20 is actually better because the bird does not get as shot up so the meat remains in better shape.
But whichever calibre you use, if you are shooting steel shot be careful defrosting and cooking frozen birds - the meat can be contaminated with .... rust !!.
16 or 28? My favorites! I love the 12 and 20 but the 16 and 28 are my favorites!
My partner shoots a 20, it’s a Beretta 686 game 30”, out shoots a lot of 12’s actually! No recoil pad like he keeps chiming on about, Beretta’s own wooden one, doesn’t snag on gun mount, 21g Cartridges, no recoil, admittedly Coley’s fitted it to her, with all the appropriate alterations carried out by Rupert Blackwall, lovely little gun.
I bought both, I own a 725, 20 bore Browning love it,and a ceazer guerini 12 bore 32" limited from the custom shop these two

Cartridge prices are a major factor. Then there's the fact you can buy a 12g and get 20g tubes (tubes not barrels)
Just bought a Browning 525 20 bore sporter , softer to shoot than my 682 using 21 gram good video
Still can’t make my mind up. Liked the look of the new Browning Medallion you showed on the National Shooting Show video. But it is expensive?
I own and shoot both 12 bores and 20 bores , I generally use 12 bore as stated in the film easier to control, I bought a kofs 20 bore a few years ago far to light for me and tended to over swing, got rid and replaced with browning 525 20 bore which is a lot better, the reason I went to 20 was a shoulder injury a few years ago at the time couldn't use 12 bore without pain , now have arthritis in shoulder if it gets bad revert back to 20 bore
Can I just say that from the Mississippi Delta and East 20 gauge is king. The 20 gauge is not a girl gun, I mean hell Americans take them up into the Appalachians, through swamps, through briar covered fields. The 20 gauge is a light versatile gun built for the field. Out west where they're shooting high flying pheasants, a lot of people shoot 12 gauge. In the far northwest when people shoot high flying, very high flying, very high and fast flying geese some people shoot 10 gauge. But with that said, in the farthest regions of the west in the coastal states, 20 gauge is king again. Because it lends itself very easily to those pine forests. And if you're tracking through the mountains, 12 gauges are heavy. And even a pound adds up real fast if you're stomping through 20 miles. I own a 20 gauge, don't own a 12. Most of the people I know who only own one shotgun, it's a 20 gauge. Is what you hunt with. Some duck hunters I know who don't hunt upland on a 12 gauge. That being said, some duck hunters I know who only hunt teal in the autumn, we have two types of teal here green teal and blue teal, well they carry a 20 gauge. Some of the people I know who hunt quail and snipe only, well some of them carry a 28. In fact, I know more people who own a 28 that I know who own a 12. But 20 gauge is overwhelmingly the king here
Anything flying from doves to ducks I use a 12 because of the pellet count and I shoot a heavier gun better not because of the power. Turkey, deer, rabbits squirrel I bring a 20g

Hi . I think everybody is missing the biggest problem with shooting nowadays especially clays , is the never ending cartridge price increases its a joke ,I know a few people that have cut down from 75 to 100 and now to 50 ! 😠😠🤠🤠🤠🤠🦈🦈🦈🦈
I notice when you shoot your nose is very close to your thumb. I'm interested in your preferred LOP. You shoot many different guns, but your nose thumb relationship seem to stay the same.
You either adjust many stocks or your a much larger stature, which is it?
I'm interested because I'm a shorter statue preferring a shorter LOP. Most shotguns out of the box are too long for me.
My wife has a 20 bore ATA SP and finds the recoil too much. Little upper strength so need the weight of the 20, we’re looking at a 20 bore beretta ultraleggero as an option.
Your reference to the amount of lead is incorrect you can fit more lead in a 2 3/4 12g than you can with a 12g. Yes you can find heavy 20g and light 12g rounds
If you shoot steel on game with a 20 bore you may have to push up to 32gram or more for tall birds.Then the gun needs to be heavier . So better going for a 12 as to much recoil on a 20bore

Another great video. Love the channel. Is there a big difference in cartridge price between a like for like cartridge? Is there more cartridge options with a 12 since they are more common or am I wrong? Keep up the great content.
With the recent increase a box of 20 bore can easily be £4 more than a box of 12
Good Grief, you are actually shooting 34 gram loads at Sporting? That is nuts. Do that too often and you'll have to stop shooting due to the damage to your shoulder. When I go out to shoot Sporting Clays I take my 28 gauge with 21 gram loads. With enough choke breaking clays 60 yards out is simply a matter of putting the shot string on target. No, you wont see smoke but I'm not impressed by smoke. I'll also note that a gun can be both Stable and Light in weight. To do that it's a matter of choosing the correct barrel length. Note, barrel weights can also serve the same purpose.
Most grounds ban anything over 28gram
12 bore can kick less than a 20 guns tend to be more heavy and 21 gram shells lighter than any 20 bore shell

For me it’s got to be 12 bore side/side and I can also shoot as well with a 20 bore all be it I do not own a 20 bore .

I use a 20 as i mostly do rough shooting and ducks over ponds and for clays I use my 12.
3 years using a triple barrel 20 bore on foxes. No complaints.
@@mchughcb I´m sure there have been and are complaints...the foxes just can´t articulate them.
