    You can drop the temps into the 150 range by replacing the water thermostat to a 180 degree.The factory water thermostat is 207 degree.

    Installed on my 21 Custom TB after watching your video and doing some research. I highly recommend the Sure Cool! Traveling 3hrs on the hwy at 72mph with ac on 85 degrees pulling two motorcycles on my trailer. Trans temps were at 138-142 degrees. I'm still amazed at the cooler temps. I like the full time cooler flow over the thermostat any day including the upgraded 158 degree unit. I was unaware of a thermostat at all until your video. I assumed it flowed through the cooler already. 194 is way too high for me. Thanks for the info. Keep Bossin!

      Do you have a 6 or 8 speed transmission? I want to do it but I have 8 speed in a 2021 and I didn’t see anyone doing it so far, so I don’t know how much fluid it will lose during the process and as we know we can not easily fill top

    you loose about 1/4 of a cup of tranny fluid - no big deal. You park the truck on level ground and with the trans temp at about 100* ( now since you removed the thermostat) remove the little 10mm check fill bolt from the trans pan. You should have a little dribble of fluid come out. If you need to add you'll have to pop the fill plug out and use a pump or a long clear 3/8 tube snaked from the engine bay to add Dexron 6. I installed this kit on my 2018 8 speed and love it!

    Do you have any recommendations for the 2.7 Silverado 8L80 transmission? I’m 195-210 daily and would like to lower that a bit. It also appears the factory bypass is fully sealed.

      @@nicholas6167 I have a 2020 Escalade with the 10L80. Mine doesn’t have a thermostat housing on the side like this transmission does. It’s just a block that mounts the cooler lines to the transmission. My understanding is the 10 speed is internally regulated somehow. I haven’t towed but it hasn’t gotten above 210* going up into the mountains in 100* heat.

    • @timmer0102
      @timmer0102 3 місяці тому

      10 speed is electronically thermostated, not a physical thermostat like the 6 and 8 speeds. So you would have to get an actual tune done to make it run cooler.

  • @truettnelson9802
    @truettnelson9802 2 роки тому +2

    Why didnt you put an aftermarket cooler in? Instead of the bypass.

    • @limitedslipautomotive
      @limitedslipautomotive  2 роки тому +2

      These trucks have pretty good coolers from the factory. With the 190 degree thermostat, the cooler wouldn’t be used until the temps hit 190, opening the flow to the cooler. The bypass allows for continuous flow to the factory cooler.

      Okay, I have 2017 chevy Silverado.. my transmission just got rebuild because of the torque converter went out. Now my temp is reaching 196... so I'm still doing my research on it

    • @superiortransmissionpartsi5357

      The Sure~Cool® thermal bypass system technology allows full flow on key start. Either type of thermo block/Pellet can stick. The STL010 can't stick and it's in full flow, the pellet is static closed and if defective will smoke the unit, no matter how many coolers you wish to add.

      @ngirardo86 2 місяці тому

      @@limitedslipautomotiveyou don’t need special tools. They have a full port on the passenger side. You just need a pump to do it. You could have even pumped a little into the trans before you put the housing back on if you wanted or filled the housing back up. That tiny bit won’t even matter anyway.

    There’s an updated thermostat for the 6L80’s why did you opt out for this? The new thermostat opens at 158° rather than 190°. The sure cool didn’t work for me so I’m trying to figure it out.

    • @limitedslipautomotive

      Why didn’t the Sure-Cool work? As for the updated thermostat, I didn’t see that service bulletin until after I ordered the delete kit. I still would rather have continuous flow rather than a thermostat as I take the truck off-road often.
